What If Kirby Had a New Moveset in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?

Does anyone else feel like newer characters in Smash get way more creative movesets than older characters? I'm quite sure Kirby would have different Copy Abilities for each move if he was added to Smash in Ultimate. Anyway, would you like to see more of these videos? :-) BTW I didn't include Neutral B in this video as Inhale is too important to Kirby to be replaced.

No you're right. A lot of the characters from Smash 4 onwards have better movesets. Then the older characters from Brawl, Melee and 64. I think some characters like Mario and Ness are left on touched because nostalgia, but Characters like Roy, Ganondorf, Y Link are still clones and don't have proper representation like Joker, Terry, Megaman, The Belmonts, and honestly even Byleth too. It's a shame because so many characters don't have proper movesets like the infamous Fire Emblem characters, Sonic, Dark Pit, Kirby, Y & T Link, Ganondorf, and etc. Sorry for my little rant but I really wish some of these outdated moveset to be updated.

i actually think the ultra sword is a really good pick for kirby's final smash. a lot of people say it should be the robobot armor or the hypernova, and while i think those are still good picks, imo the ultra sword definitely is the most iconic of modern kirby's final weapons. most of the games since return to dream land have referenced it in some way so it feels like a move that encompasses the series in a much broader sense than a lot of other picks. it feels more timeless, is what i guess i'm trying to say! other than that though, yeah kirby's current moveset is pretty odd and outdated feeling by now

If you're gonna make Wheel his Side B, then I suggest Hammer Flip as his Forward Smash instead of Jet, which would probably be a better Dash Attack. Other than that, this was incredible creative. Hope to see more in the future!

What sets Kirby back from all the characters in smash is that he kinda has a limited amount of things he can do in a competitive setting. It doesn’t really have anything to do with his attributes or whatever, I think it’s just his whole moveset in general is kinda flawed. Pretty much all of his specials are sub-par at best with the exception of Up-B, and his regulars/grabs are really the only dependable things he can use. To top it all off he’s really squishy and easy to KO, so adding a limited moveset on top of being a lightweight makes him that much less viable in competitive. That’s why I think Kirby should get a rework. Not a buff. Give him specials that he can actually use in neutral or for punishing and in general rework him into some kind of pseudo-technical glass canon type character. This is just my opinion though. Others can main Kirby and do well as much as they want, but imo if Kirby wants to climb up the tiers his specials at the very least should be changed or revamped in some way.

IMO his current up tilt is fine, and what you chose for his new up smash would probably get the same treatment as bayo’s smash attacks because it’s so big, so I’d suggest using the stone upper for his up smash and keeping his old up tilt. Otherwise it’s a great list.

I have a better image of the way he should be, utilizing stuff like Friend Heart, Starlight Rod, and Sweet Dreams, but this was a great way too! Him using his more well known Copy Abilities is good enough, and it makes me glad others want his moveset to change. I think his Final Smash should still be the Ultra Sword, but made better. Like one single swing from the Ultra Sword that does more damage and knockback than it already does in Smash. Great job imagining another moveset for him!

Personally, I think that the Ice power used here would work better as a neutral-air while the Hammer could be forward-air. Also, Wheel would work better as a dash attack and Jet as a side-special/recovery move.

As a Kirby main, I definitely think something needs to change/be added since Kirby feels a bit too lacking right now. I've been messing around with an idea similar to this: I think it would be cool if Kirby could get his standard copy abilities by inhaling projectiles instead of the laggy, inconsequential 1% heal he currently gets from inhaling them. It would make certain match-ups very interesting... and would fix up a big current weakness of his (that heal is REALLY laggy/punishable and REALLY inconsequential...). Ex: While fighting Samus, you can still swallow her to obtain her charge shot, but you can also swallow her plasma shot to become Plasma Kirby (more movement increases the power of the shot), her down-B to become Bomb Kirby (throw bombs similarly to how Yoshi or Inkling throw their projectiles), or even her missiles to become Jet Kirby (think an Ike side-B that keeps going). There are a lot of cool options it could open up!

In my opinion the only ok moves that Kirby has today are: - Jab: already a reference to the Fighter copy ability - (maybe) Up-tilt: has become kinda iconic on his own - Dash attack: best way to put the Fire copy ability - Down Special: the perfect down special - Throws: are ok since are all taken by the Suplex Copy Ability, perhaps a couple of them could be changed to represent Beam and Ninja

I've an idea, but it'd take a lot of work; Kirby's base moveset would consist entirely of kick attacks(in Kirby games, you can inflict a tiny bit of damage via the slide move), and his specials(besides standard) would be based on the power-ups from the original Kirby's Dreamland. Inhale can also be used to spit projectiles back at enemies. This is to give a sense of playing as 'normal' Kirby. But why did I say 'base moveset?' Kirby's Copy Ability copies the victim's entire moveset. Imagine playing as Mario but with Kirby's hitbox and stats. It'd be like that. However, Kirby wouldn't wear hats based on the characters. Rather, his hat would change depending on what move is performed. It's silly seeing Kirby wear the Sword Ability hat while using an Archer Ability Move. Going back to Kirby's Dreamland, our favorite Super Tuff Pink Puff's final smash would be a powerup from that game that became its own copy ability: Microphone.

Kirby uncreative moveset is more an issue of being added early on and never touched upon. When you look at how creative are some Ultimate DLCs. Plus. It's the beginner fighter. It's moves will go on the same direction as the stick to not confuse new players.

I think this is true. Kirby is actually fun to play and his specials are fine (Hammer Swing and Final Cutter in particular), but I've always felt like he had a lot of wasted potential. Most of his moveset is really bland and basic (mostly deriving from his "brawler" copy abilities such as Fighter and Suplex), so a revised moveset that actually utilizes more of Kirby's signature copy abilities would be amazing, as well as being more faithful to the character. It wouldn't even have to be super major changes, maybe just like a few moves like how Mario and Link got their moveset changed in Ultimate to reflect their home series.

I do not really think Kirby should have projectile for an up air or crazy disjointed smash attacks. I do not mind many of his basic attacks at all, for they have been a staple in smash since the beginning. How I would buff Kirby without a rework: - Kirby will heal an equal amount of percentage compared to the damage of a projectile after inhaling it - Increased run, initial dash, and walk speed - Increased air speed while not double jumping - Decreased charge time of Hammer and increased speed of uncharged attack while grounded - Decreased start time of Stone - Stone now has a spiking hitbox at the beginning of descent if used in the air - N-air start time decreased - F-air launches earlier - Reduced landing lag of up-air - Increased shield stun of B-air - Increased shield stun of F-tilt - F-Throw now puts Kirby and the opponent at a slightly lower position - Final Cutter start up time reduced and initial horizontal speed increased - Final Cutter's spiking hitbox always active upon descent - Final Cutter now has an initial hitbox upon activation. - Final Cutter gives Kirby invincibility after start up until Kirby reaches his peak height.

Kirby can already combo and kill. He already is a great character yet all his abilities are, are Fighter (Kicks and punches), Cutter (Up special), Hammer (Side special), Rock (Down special), Ninja (Up throw), Suplex (Forward, Down, Back throw) and Fire (Dash attack). It may seem like alot, but in reality it’s not. Fighter makes up 8 (and probably more) out of 13 (Attack and Special) moves. Kirby hasn’t got that much. I propose that his moves get redesigns, but not actuall changes (The moves look different but not really). Or maybe, what I think would benifit is shadow Kirby. Shadow Kirby could have an entirely different move set from Kirby. More copy abilities, think of the potenial for Shadow Kirby!

What if Kirby's copy ability worked like Kirby games, instead of copying the neutral B of every character, each character is designated a transformation from Kirby games. For example, sword characters have sword like abilities from Kirby, fire, bomb, yoyo, mirror, jet, weel, etc... Changing the play style depending on the transformation. To make it different every time, each character has more than just 1 transformation.

i would replace the final smash with the robobot mech(it really needed to be in it instead of a spirit alongside replacing great cave offensive with a stage from star allies,triple deluxe,64,air ride,squeak squad,return to dreamland or robobot as we didnt need another superstar stage.) but yeah i agree with kirby's moveset including his copy abilities(im so happy his burning move from melee was brought back in ultimate.:3)

Honestly if we want new Kirby abilities in Smash, and we know Kirby's Moveset is never gonna change, why not just put Bandana Waddle Dee in the game? He'd already have Spear, Parasol, and Beam, which are three big abilities already, and possibly other moves based on motions from other abilities, like Staff, Water, Spark, and maybe other Suplex and Fighter moves. Maybe an element changing mechanic to have even more abilities like Fire, Ice, and Wind? Hell, even the Megaton Punch Final Smash you mentioned could be used for him, since it was his first appearance! There's so much potential here that shouldn't be ignored, but probably will be anyway.

final smash possibilitys mic ability: he takes out a mega-phone and screams into it, damaging everyone on-stage crash ability: lightning strikes him from both sides, and he starts doing flips while the screen turns white, exept kirby and his opponents. when he lands, all enemys are lauched tornado ability special: he charges up, and then becomes a giant tornado. he can slowly move across the stage, but in only last a few seconds attack rider: an attack rider bike appers next to him, , he jumps on, and it charge across the stage. one the bike reachs the blast zone, kirby is teleported back to where he started the final smash beetle ability special: he trusts forward, and if he catches anyone, the flips up and smashes them onto the stage. it damages everyone close to where kirby smashed, but the person he grabbed has the most damage done extra idea for king dedede: the dededestroyer (yes thats the actual name): the dededestroyer appers in the background, simular to the giga bowser punch, and he has the choice of eather shooting an exploding missle or punching
