Gale‘s reaction about the spider is the funniest. The second one even more. Spoiler if you don‘t want to know about the spider carcass: The Orthon fed the displacer beast meat he secretly dosed with succubus stuff to make her willing. If you pretend to side with Yurgir, you can tell her about your findings and she wants to help kill him.

Mortal souls have free will and can fall into any alignment. Drow are typically considered evil because most of them are raised in a Lolth-worshipping environment that encourages evil traits, Githyanki with Vlaakith, Goblins with Maglubiyet, etc. Planer beings are the very essence of a cosmic force, Celestials are the manifestation of Good, Fiends are the manifestation of Evil, etc. There are rare exceptions of planar beings breaking from their alignment but that typically requires powerful magical interference. 26:10 Jaheira was actually a Druid/Fighter multiclass in the previous games, she was my tank for pretty much all of BG1&2. 51:17 The fact that Shadowheart still has Cleric abilities speaks for itself.

For the alternative rat resolution, if you attacked it you would have needed to survive multiple waves of rats before Lyrthindor manifests in his old humanoid form, though he seems to have gone a bit mad after living as a horde of rats, and attacks you. When you defeat him he gives much better loot than the bargain; a Justiciar great shield and very rare scimitar. But beyond that it doesn't change anything much unless you wanted a different resolution to Yurgir's fate.

From what I gathered, the spider carcass was the displacer beast's meal and Yurgir put Succubus spit on it to keep the beast under his charm.

D&D Forgotten Realms Lore pointer: Sentient Humanoids (all the playable species) are capable of any morality. Some races are more associated with some alignments than others. You mentioned Drow, which are associated with evil, because most drow are evil, due to growing up in Underdark Drow society, worshipping Lolth. Exceptions like your character exist that follow the Seldarine (the Good Elven Pantheon) but they are rare. Meanwhile, Outsiders (creatures from another plane of existence), specifically the 16 outer planes (where mortals go when they die) are representations of the moral forces of the universe. So yes, devils and deomns are always evil, and have been in an eternal war called the blood war since the beginning of this universe's existence. This is why devils, demons, and undead are popular villians, as it is morality free killing for your band of weirdo heroes.

@9:05 the orthon was feeding his pet displacer beast (the cat) this so the cat would be in love with him and subservient to him. You can tell the cat about this and turn the cat on the Orthon. Obviously the fact that the meat gives sexual arousal implies that the orthon was doing unsavory things with that cat. @49:10 Orin's race is a Changeling. Its another playable race in Dungeons and Dragons. @1:01:33 I think what Minthara means is that constantly preserving the status quo can potentially do a lot of harm. There are a lot of corrupt people in power, preserving balance only ensures those people remain in power and it stifles change.

We're so ready for Act 3! I 100% guarantee that Welonz will start the journey in one place and ends up doing a bunch of side quests all together because that's how Act 3 is built lol There's also one thing that needs to be addressed - maybe not right now, but in one particular case the order of quests matters, I think. But I trust Welonz to understand the logistics of Act 3 for herself and deal with it properly.

I know you already leveled Jaheira as a Druid but, if you want something simpler, she was a Fighter/Druid in previous games. So, forgetting about multiclassing for this, making her a Fighter would be in character a bit still. Give her high DEX/CON, pick two weapon fighting style, pick the Champion subclass, give her a good pair of weapons and some light or medium armor, and watch her blend her way without any fuss.

So we were at 50 for the first Act and 33 episodes for the second. I think I might amend my initial guess and say 130 for total episodes for the game. Giving you an ample 47 episodes, especially since you’re a lot more experienced at the game but the third act is the biggest.

It just time consuming to play long (given the fact how Welonz explore things 100%) old games when there's new releases constantly show up, so I understand why she would hesitate to ever play them for the channel as there's a lot of work besides simply playing it. And, frankly, while BG2 is a great game, playing it after BG3 will be difficult to adjust to as it's less exciting visually and more grinding in terms of collecting things and especially fighting enemies (old school BG games are ruthless in comparison with BG3 lol). I think it's fine to recommend Welonz to play it for herself just to feel the difference (pros and cons of each version), but to ask her to play it for the channel is asking a bit too much, with all respect. I think asking for first looks of BG and BG2 probably more realistic as this can be done without putting too much stock in commiting to another long game. This, I hope, can happen in the (not so near) future!

@@IsilionNELE It's not about loving/hating or the quality of old BG games, it's about managing channel on KZbin and keeping it always fresh. Plus Welonz rarely plays "mediocre new games" on her channel, she often checks out reviews cause time is precious and commiting to playing so-so game is not fun and useful (of course, there are exceptions as happened recently with LIS: Double Exposure where it was a continuation of a beloved brand both in game world and for this channel's community, but usually Welonz chose games very precisely).

1:50 responding that... Mortal races (like drows, dwarfs, elves, humans, tieflings, orcs) can have cultural and racial tendencies, but that's not a hard rulling. For example, Drows and Tieflings tend to be seen as untrustworty for other races, for cultural and historical motives, but the individual can negate these pre-conceps about them, or totally embrace those views. A lot of drow culture as a whole accepts these views and are mostly merciless, strategists backstabbers. But it isn't a native thing. NOOOW with races from the lower and upper planes, like demons, devils, and the gods themselves, are kinda made of pure energy directed to their nature, and is waaays harder for one of them to go against it, first because are foreign concepts that they can't comprehend, second because sometimes there's heavy repercussions for it. Those who escape these concepts ar mostly anomalies (think Omeluum escaping the will of the Grand Design, it's an anomaly, an incredible one, but yeah)
