I feel that Luke would've become a gray Jedi in this case because of his attuning with the light and curiosity of the dark side, and if he knew that he could get to the Sidious, he would more likely accept the training while taking the opportunity to steer Vader into the light. Overall, Luke was dedicated more the fall of the empire and the Darkside cave would've tempered him against his fear.

This makes sense. I always thought it didn't make sense that in Star Wars, when someone is tempted by the Dark Side, he automatically becomes a Sith. For example, at the end of Return of the Jedi, where the Emperor tells Luke to strike down his father and join him. But why exactly would Luke want to join the Emperor and destroy the Rebellion? That doesn't make any sense.

Sorry about replying to a year old post, but I wanted to say that I did not believe the choice Luke made in Empire. Until Vader told him that he wanted to destroy the emperor, Luke had no reason to believe Vader was double crossing the emperor. In that instant he had evidence of Vader's true intentions. Vader tells Luke that together they can end the conflict, that he is his father, that he can destroy the emperor, and that he wants to rule the galaxy with Luke. That should have changed everything. Vader would have most likely started plotting against the emperor when he learned that Luke was his son. Vader was being honest with Luke in Empire. Work together to destroy the emperor. Luke should have also understood that he was in a perfect bargaining position. Vader needs Luke far more than Luke needs Vader. Make a deal. And attempting to turn Vader, or defeat him if necessary, may be easier once the emperor is gone. Then of course, Luke and Vader would still have to devise a plan to reach and defeat the emperor, without getting themselves killed.

katakisLives You're right, but true to his loss on mustafar, he'd always been overconfident in himself. Sidious also taught that the sith way was to eventually rise above the use of lightsabers altogether, except for the purpose of humiliating jedi. Seems kinda like after losing all the dueling tactics and maneuvers pre suit Vader had, he'd focused more on force discipline and overall strength in the darkside. He'd believed he was on Sidious and Yodas level of force control, rather than doin what he did best, which was striking opponents down with his lightsaber.

I doubt Luke would fall to the dark side so quickly. Vader's dark side was already weakened by Luke's presence and after the Emperor's defeat, Luke would continue to try and get his father into the light. With no one to whisper lies of hate and betrayal in Vader's ear, I think his love for his son (and daughter) would be victorious and he would've been redeemed.

This is the logical path. One way or another, Vader was the one destined to balance the force. As Anakin he culled the light side. As Vader, he'd eventually temper the dark. Vader as Dark Side and Luke as Light would balance each other out and the empire would eventually bring peace and order.

I was getting the chills listening to this. Man this is so good!! Taking into consideration that Luke later founded the Jedi Academy, we can assume that he would make something of similar with the Sith. A temple, solely dedicated to the new ways of the Sith with Luke as the new Lord. Although it is said only 2 Siths can exists at any time, Luke may just change that teaching and amass armies of Dark Force users or Siths to take over the galaxy.

several things..... the rule of two... vader should KNOW everything the emperor knows, he just lacks the able body to do anything with it. Force lighting would straight rape vader. the emperor would sence luke the second he got near the second deathstar, much as vader and luke senced each other when they went to the forest moon of endor. vader would not have bothers to go into the place luke was smaked with the dark side, he would know what was up and be like, "your training shall being son" for the fight with the emperor he would just let luke get in of his own power and fight his way to the emperor, then attack the emperor, or at the very least let the fight push them near the old bat so they could both take a swing at his old wriinkled butt

But why would Luke be angry with his friends? This doesn't make sense to me. The Dark Side is powerful, but Luke would need a little personal motivation to tune in with it. Before his battle with Vader in Bespin, all that Luke cared about was the safety of his friends.

Still not strong enough to build REAL HATE in Luke towards his friends. The worst thing would be dissapointment, but not hate, and even with that he wouldn't join Vader, the evil murderer of his uncles (I know that it was actually done by the Empire, but Vader was involved somehow).

This was really good. The only thing I find it hard to imagine is that Palpatine was unaware of Vader's betrayal. It seems likely that Palpatine would sense Vader was lying and would play along, unsurprised when he arrived with Luke. Personally I would also have Leia's lightsaber be white :) just my preference

I can honestly imagine a scenario where Vader would be charged for war crimes, and be incarcerated by the Rebels, but he'd at least make peace with Luke and Leia. Nonetheless, it'd be an interesting scenario. Maybe even give Vader a newer suit that didn't look as menacing.

They already did this in The Return of the Jedi Infinities by dark horse comics. He becomes the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, joins the rebellion, and changes his armor color to white.

Sega Nesquik Yea but it would be a big mistake on the Rebels part to do such a thing. They have one of the Empire's head honchos, the Emperor's second in command, in their custody. The Empire may have been fractured by the death of the Emperor, but it wasn't going to fall that easily. The Alliance would need Anakin's resources to help them out. Also, I imagine Luke wouldn't allow them to incarcerate his father. He would probably take full responsibility for whatever Anakin does that would be considered out of line with the Alliance. Plus, with Anakin's tutelage, Luke would be a full-fledged Jedi Knight in no time. Why have just one trained Skywalker when TWO will do? Between the two of them, The Force would be strong with the Alliance.

I honestly believe that this would be in reverse. Vader is a loyal and powerful sith, but he cares for his son deep within himself. He'd most likely not change to the light, but would teach his son as a father should. I believe he'd see Luke as more of an equal- Erm, maybe. Together they'd destroy the emperor and rule together, but Vader would find at least a hint of light and find parts of Anakin that he had neglected within himself. Luke would bring out the good in Vader, and it would severely change his attitude from heartless and ruthless to something much more tamed. But that's just a theory. A Star Wars theory.
