What If Shonen Jump Made a Hero Shooter?

I think its a missed opportunity that there are so many cool jump characters who are canonically healers that were not considered for support roles. Sakura, Tsunade, Chopper, Marco, Orihime, Josuke, Giorno, just off the top of my head.

For balancing reasons maybe Sanji could do extra healing to female allies and extra damage to males at the cost of not dealing any damage alternatively simply have him do reduced damage and increased healing for the case where a whole team attempts to switch to all females to make one party member useless damage wise.

3:08 for the naruto franchise, you could make Sakura a support, because she's mainly a healer in naruto shippuden. You could potentially make Naruto and/or Sasuke a tank, by using Kyubi (and the other Susanoo). You could make them a dps, that when they transform (using your brand new mechanic) they become tanks.

Naruto could honestly work for all three roles. He can share kurama's chakra and use the six paths chakra to heal as support, use the tail beast form as tank or use his rasengans and rasenshurikens as dps. He should be a jack of all traits

Yeah I agree Sakura should be in this hypothetical hero shooter considering she makes way more sense as a Support character than Naruto (not to mention Female representation). Other than that my only criticism include the fact that MHA gets 4 reps when he said 3 reps Max, Josuke would be more interesting in this game rather than Jotaro considering his Stand can heal and deal damage, and Zoro would probably not make it in the base roster because he got lost

Honestly, out of all your ideas, ultimates being turned into transformations is the best one. Not only is it a mechanic that would make the game stand out compared to the rest in the genre, similar to how it is now in MR with the team ups, but it also gives the developers the chance to experiment with making more hybrid characters. Let's take Naruto for example. If he really is a support, I feel a lot of people could be kinda disappointed, however to mitigate that, just give him his six sage path for like 10 seconds where he has more dps abilities, maybe even add something like a healing "aura" circle, where if his teammates are in it, they still get to be healed, and not lose their support just because Naruto ulted. Honestly, this video was great and the idea was even better.....that's how you know it's never happening or at least any time soon xD.

I really love the idea of yugi as a support. He could use pot of greed to refresh an ally's skill cooldowns and monster reborn to revive allies - think similar to Rocket's respawn in marvels rivals, he'd set Monster Reborn on the ground and the first ally to die would get revived on it instantly. His primary fire could be having dark magician fire orbs, and his alt fire could be summoning mystical elf to heal allies. In terms of other supports, you could also do Josuke from Part 4 of Jojo as an obvious pick.

The fact that Shonen Jump and Shueisha have basically infinite money and haven't ever really been able to make a decent crossover fighting game or other crossover game is insane. Like the video pointed out, Shueisha doesn't just own the big three and dragonball. They own Chainsaw Man, Kagurabachi, JJK, JoJo, Dandadan, and basically every other manga you could ever think of under the sun other than like Berserk, Soul Eater, and Hiromu Arakawa's manga. There is so much potential for great crossover games that Shueisha somehow screws up every single time

That's not how that works, the manga you listed is under Jump, and Shueisha doesn't own most manga, they publish them, and they're are other publishing companies like Kodansha and Shogakugan that own around the same, if not more series. Shueisha can't crossover other series from different magazines unless the magazines themselves want to, thats why we havent seen jump crossover with other manga properties to this day

its bc anime as a whole has a video game problem, for whatever reason they’re allergic to making games that aren’t slop cash grabs unless it’s for dragon ball once in a blue moon. they treat games the same way movie tie-in games were treated in the mid to late 2000s, so as long as they feel that way we’re never gonna get a good crossover game. the fact they don’t even wanna just return to known heavy hitters they’ve literally gone to for games before like cc2 or arcsys or even koei tecmo as a cheat code to make a good game with a proven formula is beyond me. they haven’t even thought of giving any other franchise the fighterz, warriors, or ninja storm treatment and atp i’ve given up on hoping for it. i can count on one hand the amount of anime games ive played in the last decade that felt like jump actually cared to try to make a good game, even less of we don’t count dbz games.

Plus, there have been crossover games in the past that have used properties that were only published by the companies like Dengeki Bunko and Nitroplus Blasterz (albeit those were for visual novels)

Other JoJo’s Classes Jonathan: Melee Tank using his hamon for offense and defense. Transformation: Overdrive Joseph: Mixed DPS using hamon imbued weapons for close and far ranged combat. Transformation: Red Stone Josuke: Melee Support who can heal people in his range (if this game has a destructible environment maybe he can reform destroyed structures.) There technically already is a Shonen Jump MOBA, called "Jump: Assemble" It features characters from One Piece, Dragon Ball, BLEACH, Naruto, Kimetsu no Yaiba, JuJutsu Kaisen, Undead Unluck, and Mashle as its core characters (and I thing a recent update also added Hunter X Hunter) it is on smart-phones tho, so it most likely won't last

Funnily enough, they already did this... kinda. There was a Black Clover game - Quartet Knights - which was reasonably similar to Marvel Rivals. As in, a team-based third-person Hero-shooter-esque game with objectives similar to Overwatch. While Quartet Knights fizzled out very quickly due to not drawing in enough players to sustain a live-service game, if Shueisha made something similar with the entire Jump brand behind it and applied more polish they could quite reasonably make a name for themselves in the subgenre.

There is a problem with the "Transformation" mechanic - Zorro, Black Beard, Jotaro, Light, Kenshin, Koro Sensei, Saiki, Gintoki, Arale, Ryotsu, Kenshiro, Ryo Saeba, Bakugo, Megumi, Mash, Cobra, Kinnikuman, and Momotaro, do not transform to my knowledge and neither do any of the sports protagonists

Some of of them could go some ways, like Zoro transforming into the three headed demon, Saiki taking off his antennae, Megumi using the Mahoraga summon maybe but I get what you mean. Unless they add new abilities to the characters or change rules most cant transform

@MVXXll While I can totally see transformations being a special ability for some characters, it should not be a universal mechanic heck, I'd say in case of some characters, transformations should be treated differently Like some transformations can have multiple stages, some transformations only trigger when a character is at the brink of death, and some transformation drain the character's HP the longer they stay in said form

Imagine Goku gets to tap into Ultra Instinct after staying in the fight for a long while, getting super low in health, or something like that. That would be super sick. Maybe instead of transformations being the big unique factor of the game we can have something else that can accommodate every character, while also including transformations. I'm too lazy to think in depth right now though. They could possibly grant each character a powerup or an ability if certain conditions are met, just like the Ultra Instinct for Goku I talked about before. I could see this working. Not sure on the specifics yet, only thought about the most obvious character haha. Also maybe the game could also spin itself in a different direction away from the traditional 6v6, 3 role, objective controlling hero shooter model. Some characters abilities just wouldn't be able to fit into a marvel rivals replica. I want to see something unique that also has the combat and feel of hero shooters. Sorry for the yap sesh just really like thinking about what they can do with this, love the way the new Marvel game came out. If Shueisha actually wanted to they could create an amazing game and print money, just as Marvel has done, but they don't... The concepts are already there, it's just about fitting them all into a game now. I pray they do it some day. They just hate spending money on things lol.

Before watching the video, I'll just say it bluntly. No shounen jump game will be purely great as long as bandai is the primary IP holder for their games. They only exist due to mantles rather than games first. Only reason why fighterz in general is an exception is arcsys are extremely experienced in their craft. Exceptions do not make the rule. I would love both a shounen jump hero shooter and smash bros like jump ultra stars, but as long as shounen jump refuse to use someone else aside from bandai to watch over development, release, etc. It's going to be either mediocre or an unrefined mess with greed because "it'll sell due to the IP alone so we don't have to put in much effort" which is only partially true for a launch, never long term. I hate bandai's involvement with anime IP based games and have no hope in any at all until they stop being given the rights alone.

I'd definately like a Vanguard Toriko. Make him a bit like the inverse of Mr Fantastic where he starts out going full tank and then becomes a full on DPS with his Spiked Punch being able to do MASSIVE damagev and CCing enemies, his shivering ability giving him a way to completely shake off enemy CC and give him temporary max health, and maybe even an "Honoring the Food" ability where he can gain more health from alliy heals and apply anti-heal to the enemies if he builds up a meter like Dr Strange. His transformation would obviously be his Gourmet Spirit form. He could be beastly

Will be transformed btw) UNIVERSE 7 TEAMUP: (If frieza and goku are together, and goku uses instant transmission while frieza is doing nova strike, they both start dashing together) Rivals The strongest: (If goku, vegeta, or frieza is on the other team while you're using one of those characters, you get a buff to ult gain)

I’d expect a Jump “Hero Shooter” to just be an Arena Fighter with third person free aim mechanics instead of functioning purely with an action game lock-on system. There was always a pretty fine line between Hero Shooters and Arena Fighters, and I think that line is going to disappear in the very very near future. Probably play something like Dragon’s Dogma: You’ll have a light and heavy attack, you’ll have some basic combos, you’ll have some hot key Special moves that are either on a cooldown system or use meter, (using meter is always better) and characters with ranged attacks will have some kind of aiming system depending on the character...for example Dragon’s Dogma has, depending on the “Class”: traditional third person aiming like you’d expect in any regular third person shooter, an auto-aim lock-on, and a lock-on where you have to paint a target first by aiming at them. Basically I’d expect it to pretty much be like the Jump games that Spike Chunsoft makes for Bandai Namco but without the lock-on system. Probably has very destructible stages. Maybe has a tag system like Jump Force.

Here are some changes I'd make: *The rival mechanic should also work with rival series (Goku with Seiya, Luffy with Naruto and Ichigo, Deku with Asta, Denji with Yuji and so on). *I'd switch Goku and Vegeta's classes, both of them are known for being beasts fighting but out of them, Vegeta is the tankier one (Hell, in Super he has a transformation that is specifically centered on tanking). *I think Jojo should have at least one more character from base, it's too much of a large universe to have only one character. I'd prefer it to be a jobro but it would most likely be Giorno as a support. *Seiya would definitely be a tank and not a support, not only he doesn't have a healing ability (there are charcaters in SS who can heal with cosmos but Seiya isn't one of them) but his whole shtick is just getting every single bone broken whenever he fights and still stand up because cosmos and stuff. If you still want a support from SS, Athena would be a better option.

If one happened today, based on the current crop of Jump shows, you’d probably have characters from Kinnikuman, Kaiju No. 8, Slam Dunk, Me & Roboco, Sakamoto Days, Witch Watch, Mashle, Spy X Family, Sand Land, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Undead Unluck in there. Are all of those Weekly Shōnen Jump series? No. But I think as their online service keeps growing more popular, and more and more series from Jump+ get adaptations, we probably see them become less rigid with regard to what Jump thing something came from... especially when they’re all just being put next to each other on their online service anyways. It’d be really interesting to not even brand it as a Jump thing and just run with what Hitotsubashi Group as a whole owns. It’d definitely open up who could be included anyways.

Miscellaneous Characters I thought off Thorfinn (specifically season 1): Dive dps with high mobility. Idk what his transformation would be Mob: Ranged tank who uses his psychic powers to protect his friends. Transformation: 100% Senshi: Melee Support who can heal his teammates with his delicious cooking. Idk what his transformation would be either. Edward Elric: Melee tank who can use his blade arm to fight up close and use his alchemy to erect barriers and other constructs. Unsure about transformations. Okarun and Momo: A switch character support. Momo can heal people with her aura powers as well as grapple enemies, while Okarun is more dps oriented with high speed movement and attacks. Their ultimate is switching the OST to William Tell Overture

Two characters I’d like to see in a game like this (who also just so happen to be imagined as Supports) are Senku from Dr. Stone (who could top foes up on buffs through science) and Krillin from Dragon Ball (Because SENZU BEAN!) I’d also really like to see Jonathan from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, though I can’t imagine which role he’d be. He’s got the combat skill of a DPS, the brick build of a Tank, and could use his Hamon to heal as a Support

I feel like the clear lack of female characters is weird. You could even make a Season around it. Rukia - Bleach Noelle - Black Clover Sakura - Naruto Boa Hancock - One Piece (she was in previous Jump fighting games) Also I'd try to fit Medaka from Medaka Box in there somewhere as she's probably the most prominent female protagonist in Shonen jump. Now for other characters that I feel should come in later: Bobobo Eyeshield 21 Hitman Reborn Beelzebub Toriko D grayman I could go on, but I feel like the amount of potential seasons is huge.

The problem with this idea is that SJ characters (or manga characters in general) basically don't crossover with each other. Their world and story dont intersect (as a product of them being under their own mangaka's full control) so outside of same series interactions the only content is 'what if' interactions which is amusing but wouldn't go too far and wouldn't make sense for team powerup (or rivalries that you suggested). Rather than trying to emulate Marvel Rivals which naturally has the interactivity advantage (with a company owning the IP and them being reused bazillion times in so many different settings and combinations), I would just rather use one of the most popular Jump IP and utilize the series gimmicks to make its own charm. For example: One Piece. It is big enough to carry the game on its own (both the character list and popularity). You can shoehorn so many characters to their own archetype rather than forcing some main characters of Jump (which usually would be DPS/Vanguard) into support. As for the gimmick, rather than pure FPS/TPS like MR or Overwatch, I would combine it with Musou elements (e.g Dynasty Warriors). Imagine each game's duration to be a bit longer, and instead of fighting just with each other you could fight with tons of generic fodders (+ higher rank generic captains) and use the abilities to destroy dozens of fodders at once. i can already imagine so many characters and stages taken from story alone, and with good AI and strong processing power the Musou element would be extremely fun and fresh.

Okay but One Piece is stacked in possible characters in the Straw hats alone you have Nami could be a support using the climatic and Zeus to zap people with lightning and causing storms Usopp could be a dps sniper with multiple different types of ammo Chopper is a obvious support who could also transform into more tanky/speedy/damage focused forms Robin could either be a support or damage but her ability is a bit busted so I don’t know how well it would translate into a hero shooter Frankly is the living definition of a a Tank Jinbe could also be a tank And Brook also fits into could either be support or DPS character Sanji is kind of impossible to implement while staying true to his character (like no way could you have a character who’d be unable to attack female characters) but if he was a character he’d be a dps flanker character and I don’t know maybe there’s a possible way to make it work Also this would allow a team with Luffy (Tank) Franky (Tank) Zoro (DPS) Usopp (DPS) Chopper (Support) Nami (Support)

honestly i feel like characters that have completely different moves in different transformations it would be best to split them up. Like pre timeskip Luffy is a dps and his ult is 3rd gear and abilities use 2nd gear or maybe a 2nd gear build up. Then post timeskip Luffy is always in Bounce Man form as a tank and his transformation is G5. This way you can play as ur fav characters but in different classes but total different stats.

Here are some random ideas Marshall D Teach/Blackbeard - Vangaurad, his kits would be gravity based (having a push and pull similar to Invisible Woman). He has a skill that can temporarily negate other character’s skills for a short second. His ult (Black Vortex) creates a ball of pure darkness that pulls enemies within the ball (doing additional damage) Mimosa Vermillion - simple strategists. Her kits involve her making various plant spells, each having either healing or buff capabilities. Her ult, Flower Princess Utopia, is a wade range healing ult that provides large amounts of health to allies. Katsuki Bakugo - obvious dive dps. All of his kits are close ranged explosive attacks. He has one explosive kit that allows for quick travel. His ult, Howitzer Impact Cluster, is a wide area ult causing mass damage in a straight line burst Denji - dsp, he would basically be a very fast character similar to Wolverine. His passive allows him to slowly build up a berserker rage the more he deals damages and kills to enemies. His ult, the Chainsaw Devil, transforms him into his full Devil form that brings a lot of chaos into a match. Ruri Aoki - this is just more for fun since RuriDragon isn’t a battle manga at all. Her skill has a diverse set of abilities, one that lets her use lightning, fire, and poison. Her ult, Lighting Discharge, lets her summon a large bolt of lightning from the sky.
