Yeah but there's a plot hole there. In A New Hope, Obi-Wan gives Anakin's lightsaber to Luke and he tells him:"Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough." Anakin obviously knew that Padme was pregnant with at least one child, and, before he turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader, he gave his lightsaber (for whatever reason). to Obi-Wan to give to his son when he was born. There should have been a scene in the last prequel movie where, after Padme tells Anakin that she's pregnant. where he either gives his lightsaber to Obi-Wan to give to Luke when he's born, or he says to Obi-Wan:"I'd really like to give this to my son when he's born, when I'm too old to use it." Or maybe even:"if I ever have a son I want to pass this onto him." Either way, it stays with Obi-Wan, he keeps it with him and gives it to Luke (I would have personally preferred it if Palpatine had given Anakin his new red lightsaber when he became his apprentice) So Anakin and Padme knew they were going to have at least a son, and they may have named him Luke before he was born, but what he DIDN'T know was that Padme was pregnant with twins. He only finds out in Return of the Jedi when he reaches out into Luke's mind and finds out that he has a sister. In Revenge of the Sith (or as I would have named it, Rise of the Empire) it's revealed to the audience that Anakin and Padme are having a son, but the twist at the end of the movie is that Padme gives birth to a twin sister that Anakin new nothing about, and Obi-Wan decides to hide her from Anakin.

@@kenkerrison8962 We already know Obi-wan lies through his teeth in A New Hope. He's telling Luke what he thinks he needs to hear to get him on board with the rebellion. Whether or not Anakin explicitly told Obi-wan to give his son his lightsabre is a fairly white lie by comparison. It's not a stretch to imagine that a father would want his possessions passed down to his children.

Danny M Yes he “technically” did lie, because Anakin didn’t literally become a different person. He was speaking figuratively, but he knew that Luke wouldn’t understand his meaning. He intended to deceive him. But if you want to take it that way, he would still be speaking in the “spirit” of the truth when he said his father wanted him to have his lightsaber. Even if never explicitly said it, he could safely guess that pre-Vader Anakin would’ve wanted it passed down to his children.

Suggestion: Obi-Wan is not yet on the Council either. Anakin is absolutely the hero of Utapau and is definitely the one responsible for such a decisive victory. And there's an opening on the Council - on another planet, a Jedi Council member was killed in battle. So Anakin and Obi-Wan are summoned to the Council for an "important announcement." Both think this means Anakin is going to finally be named to the Council with this opening, but they're both shocked when they give the position to **OBI-WAN**. So now in addition to his anger that you've set up in here, this serves as another wedge between the two of them.

+TooTrueLamb watch the video more closely. the whole idea here is to set up the prequels so that they are not only better, but that the whole thing can be watched from episode 1 to episode 6. 3 < 6, so episode three would be watched before episode 6. Episode 6 can't spoil any of the reveals or plot points in episode three because people would watch episode 3 first.

He doesn't even actually call attention to it, but one of my favourite things in these are the Jedi uniforms. One of the stupidest things about the prequels was all the Jedi dressing in robes just because Obi-Wan wore them, I mean the man was a goddamn desert hermit. The jedi wearing more combat like uniforms reminiscent of what Luke is wearing in Return of the Jedi is way cooler and makes way more sense.

+Ben Dick I have to disagree. Although this technically makes more sense, I don't like the look. The Jedi robes look cooler and make the Jedi look more like ancient sages or wizards. Plus, think about it like this. Sith are supposed to be a perversion of the Jedi, so it only follows then that Sith would have dark robes to oppose the white robes of the Jedi. Even so, not all Jedi wear the robes anyway. Luminara Undulli, Aayla Secura, and Ashoka Tano, to name a few, are all Jedi of the Old Republic who never wore the traditional Jedi robes.

That may be your opinion, but I like the robes. They did do a hybrid like you mention in the clone wars, but that didn't look good. I like the simplicity of a robe. Star Wars is all about making epic battles behind simple stories. The Jedi Knights, with their sabers are meant to represent something in the middle of a samurai and a ninja. The robes fit this style. The futuristic thing doesn't really fit the Star Wars theme. Plus, it makes sense if you think about it. Obi-Wan didn't need to change his clothes because everyone on

3 things: I think you could capitalize on your revised role for Grievous by having him ambush and kill Windu in the battle. Windu being overcome by droids is a little disappointing but seeing him get murked by grievous would be sick. I feel like Anakins turn on Obi-Wan is a bit forced here. His bitterness about being rejected from the council might cause tension, or drive a wedge between them but I can't see Anakin being convinced that Obi-Wan has been working against him all along in this new story. I think Obi-wan would have to do more to personally hurt Anakin, like take Windu's side in the council instead of anakin's, which would portray him to Anakin as being a bit of Windu's lapdog, giving Palpatine material to work with, as well as giving Anakin a concrete and explicit reason to be provoked to violence against him. It could also help for it to be revealed that Obi-Wan used to have the hots for Padme because then Anakin could accuse Obi-Wan of being jealous, and being a hypocrite. I'm not convinced that a mother would hand over her child just because her husband went nuts. It seems a bit too emotionally detached to say "you're right I've done a poor job at being a good influence in someone's life and I am a high profile individual therefore it would be most logical for you to care for my offspring", it sounds more Vulcan to me. I think it would make more sense if Padme and Obi-Wan were forced down a path that took them somewhere unfit for a child.

I love the small change with Anakin choking Maul, and I also love that you display that anybody can become Darth Vader when in the wrong circumstances. In episode 6 you get a hint that Vader was once a normal guy dealt with the wrong hand. Your version of the prequels stayed very true to that.

The point is that Palpatine is simply using Anakin for his power. Once he gets what he wants, he'll cast him aside like Maul and Dooku. This is what he tries to do in Return of the Jedi. Palpatine looks at Luke and sees another chance at building the apprentice he was grooming Anakin to be before he was cut down by Obi-Wan. Palpatine picking any normal guy for his apprentice doesn't make sense.

Fun Facts: • Jackie drew 253 boards for this. • The project file for this dates back to February 2015, but I have notebooks for Episode III going back to before Episode II was done (one of them noting Anakin force choking Maul and Owen offering to take the child). • This one's just silly. For Episode I, I'm wearing a shirt that is mostly white, has some grey and subtle green lines. For Episode II, grey is more dominate and there are hints of blue. And for Episode III, the grey is gone and we're dealing only with red, black and white... so, I somehow managed to work in lightsaber colors and the Dark Side crept into my attire...

I love that Palpatine is totally like a real politician haha. Not that he isn't in the actual prequels, but his approach of telling everyone what they want to hear, and not just Anakin. "Hey I hear you. That's cool. Totally understand." and then proceeds to just do what he does behind the scenes anyway. Just like a true politician, he finds ways to try to keep on people's "good side", while totally still doing whatever the hell he wants, and with only his own goals in mind. I love it.

Only halfway through, but I love the point that Windu makes that Anakin will never be a master. It almost puts him into a caste system since he started his training so late that he will never be like the "true" Jedi, who trained since they were young. It paints a more gray picture of the Council. More than just twiddling their thumbs because they're pacifists (like in the movies), they have an edge about them that is fundamentally flawed. It makes us, as the audience, question their very nature rather than just frustrate us because they are so "good".

In the movies, high-ranking Jedi and even council members are taken out by 2 to 5 troops, how does that not make them feel small and powerless? Political opponents sent on a suicide mission to get rid of them by their enemies has a lot of historical precedences. Just like what happened in that scene with Faramir in LOTR. Also, droids were not allowed in the bar because the barkeeper forbid them. Do you really think that's comparable to breaking an imperial law carried out on a galactic scale that is punishable by death?

There’s a major problem with trying to keep Anakin being Vader a secret. In a New Hope it’s stated multiple times that Kenobi taught Vader. Given there was no Darth Vader in episode I-III people would easily conclude Anakin is Vader. Also Obi-Wan specifically said “Vader helped the empire hunt down the Jedi”. Having all the Jedi just die because of a poor battle plan is stupid

Kyle Campbell I think in regards to order 66, perhaps in this version when yoda is talking to Palpatine at the end, it’s made clear to the audience that the rest of the Jedi will be hunted down. So while it’s not directly said, that thread is then wrapped up when they directly say it in episode 4. I agree that you can’t really consider the Vader as able to be truly kept a secret, but I think this allows as much mystery as possible. Personally, my issue with the ending in this what if is that it feels a bit anticlimactic

To be fair, in that same conversation Obi-Wan told Luke that Vader betrayed and murdered his father. An argument could be made that this was just another example of Obi-Wan telling the truth "from a certain point of view". Anakin sent the Jedi into a massacre because he was embracing the Dark Side, so he was kinda-sorta-basically Vader at this point.

If you've already watched the original trilogy before this reimagined prequel trilogy, you already know that Anakin is Vader. Keeping Vader and the twins a secret is so that people watching the prequels before the originals can still have the surprise of the Vader reveal in Empire and the twin reveal in Jedi.

Funny how everyone grumbles about the prequels until you suggest changing them. I personally like them, and I think they had a lot of good parts. Ewan McGregor for one, Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, and having Ian McDiarmid reprising his role was great. But I mean.. sometimes there's what the director wants, and what the audience wants. @@TheLithp This whole hypothetical is really good up until the 10 minute mark in this video. Everything with darth maul and the slower build up, greater character growth, is fantastic, but the proposed ending is completely anti-climatic and unbelievable. As bad as the prequels were, order 66 is actually one of the coolest and most interesting moments from them, and if I was given the choice between this scenario and the one george gave us, I would still go with george's version just for order 66. It really brings about this ultimate sense of betrayal, and the entire sequence cements Anakin's journey to the dark side, as he willingly becomes a monster, all in a calculated, premeditated manner. Also, Anakin needs to know about Padme's pregnancy, as that gives him a very strong motivation to do these horrible things if its to save her and his child. All the other interactions with the dark side and Palpatine ultimately just serve as devices which bring Anakin close enough to the dark side where his ultimate turn is a straw that broke the camel's back situation rather than an abrupt and strange turn like in the prequels. Maybe he doesn't need to literally slaughter children with his own hand but he needs to be complicit and aware of what's going on. With as much set up as this scenario puts into giving Anakin an actual reason to want the Jedi order gone, it's bizarre they toss that all away and say "lmao and the jedi just die in an explosion that Anakin literally had nothing to do with." My perfect prequel trilogy would be this scenario up until where anakin force chokes maul (which is an amazing moment), and then the prequel trilogy we got from there on. Make the sidious vs windu and friends battle better chereographed, improve dialogue, remove the flashiness of obi wan vs vader, and end the film with anakin being put into the suit.

I don't agree with that scene where they are all talking about their ambitions. And if not all the Jedi are killed, why would Yoda abandon them all and go into hiding? His job is to keep the balance of the force, yet he just lets the Sith do as they please. There was a lot I did like about your interpretation, but it's not without it's holes.

Obi-Wan did have to elude the Stormtroopers in Mos Eisley, who WERE called in after Obi-Wan's lightsaber incident. A huge part of the Mos Eisley sequence is them hiding from the Stormtroopers and barely escaping in the Falcon. Even if there is no Order 66, by the time of Episode 4 Jedi are clearly enemies to the Empire, just from Obi-Wan's line about how Vader hunted them down. So I don't think Michael's argument of Mos Eisley is a very strong one.

Not all Jedi died right away when Order 66 originally happened. Some, like Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Kanan, managed to escape. During the 19 year gap between 3 and 4 they continued to hunt down surviving Jedi. Of course, Darth Vader was on the Empire's side at this point. It was explored more in the EU that is no longer canon, but even in the new canon there are a lot of Jedi who survived the initial order 66.

In that scene where Anakin chokes Darth Mall, I think that he should have pushed Obi-Wan to the ground “AFTER” he used the force to pull Anakin’s lightsaber away, not before. Because that to me was the only moment that felt like it escalated a little to quickly in this version of the movie. But apart from that, this video is great!

It not only makes Luke's outfit in Return of the Jedi make more sense, but also clears up a massive plot hole opened by the prequels. You see, Order 66 has been executed, and almost all the Jedi are dead. So both Obi-Wan AND Yoda, after traveling off to live in their isolated worlds, continue wearing their Jedi robes. I guess it makes sense for Yoda to do so, since Dagobah is (as far as we know) totally unpopulated with intelligent life, but, Obi-Wan? Not at all. Tatooine isn't an isolated planet. There are tons of people living on it. Just because it's outside of Imperial Rule, doesn't mean there isn't someone there who lived through the time of Order 66, saw Obi-Wan and went "Hey, this Old Ben guy is wearing Jedi robes, lives right by the home of the son of Anakin Skywalker, another Jedi, and literally is named Old Ben KENOBI. Maybe I should report this guy to the Empire and get that bounty reward for turning in a Jedi because as established this planet has a severe problem with poverty." It's just one of those stupid plotholes the prequels open up that seems fine on first glance, but when you think about it for a second kinda tears a massive hole in the series. Much like Order 66 as explained in this very video. Regardless, yeah, the Jedi outfit the artist drew was great. I really like it.

If you're intending these movies to be watched in order, I can only think of one problem with this, which is that the whole Yoda twist in Episode 5 would be spoiled in this. It does however establish that Obi-Wan has created a lie about Anakin's "death." So a new viewer would assume that Obi-Wan was continuing to hide the truth that he "killed" Anakin without necessarily realizing that Anakin is Vader. It would be a reasonable way of transitioning him further into the dark side. That would also explain why at the time of the original trilogy, the only Jedi that are known are Yoda and Obi-Wan, as anyone else that was a Jedi would have been found and killed in the 19-20 year gap, leaving the only two (known) survivors as members of the old Jedi Council, who represent essentially the best Jedi. (thus they have better skills to evade detection and capture [AKA exile])

I like how this version retains maul as the antagonist. Much more personal fight for obi-wan. I also like how it paints a picture of an Anakin that’s actually worthy of redemption. He feels more ideologically motIvated here and his turn to the dark side feels more pragmatic. I’ve always had trouble with Anakin’s redemption seeing as he slaughtered so many innocent lives in the PT and even chokes his own wife. However, Obi-Wan explicitly says Vader hunted down the Jedi in ANH and luring the majority of the Jedi into a single conflict to ensure they’re annihilation is frankly way more unrealistic than having them being systematically betrayed from within, not to mention a way less entertaining and less tragic premise. This rewrite also seems to be lacking some of the theatrics that make for Episode III’s best, most operatic moments. This isn’t to say that Episode III isn’t somewhat bloated in the spectacle department, because it is, but this is a Star Wars movie we’re talking about here. The proceedings need to be a bit more fun than what’s offered here. So, for these reasons, this rewrite doesn’t ultimately work for me. Love this. Except I want the Owen part to be given to Beru. That can add some tension about who Anakin’s love interest is, and it gives us insight into how she met Owen. Honestly I really just can't see a situation in which Yoda doesn't actually confront the Emperor in some way. In the movie we got its an absolute last ditch effort to save everyone that ultimately fails. In this scenario its just "Sooooo...you gonna let me take over?" "Yeah sure why not?" "Soooooo....see you never then?" "Yeah." Yoda's smart and the Emperor wouldn't want to die now that he's achieved all that. He would've outed him as a Sith right there and thus no longer a traitor. Also Order 66. Some form of that still has to come down. Even if this were the last battle and several high ranking Jedi are killed what about the ones retired from the front lines or run the temple? They have to be dealt with and without an official declaration or inciting incident the Jedi Order still remains. Its fractured but it remains and all of those Jedi still kicking around in a place where they can organize is too much for an injured Anakin to deal with alone even over 20 years. A form of Order 66 has to come down. The Jedi are still too strong by the end of this scenario even if some of their best members are killed in that battle. They still have a base, several students, and a point they can rally too. Order 66 broke that by the clones razing the temple and managing to kill all its occupants.

If you don't have a method of dealing with those isolated Jedi they could easily slip away and regroup with others at the temple since again in this version the Jedi aren't traitors or terrorists and the Jedi temple remains untouched. Shadow Force I've actually argued that the Star Wars movies and more importantly the prequels themselves are kind of almost anti religion in that the Sith orchestrate the whole war simply to wipe out the Jedi. Millions get caught in the cross fire between an ancient dogmatic war no one else has a stake in and in the end the galaxy is left scarred because of the actions of a few. It wasn't Palpatine's ultimate goal to rule the galaxy. His ultimate goal was to eradicate all the Jedi as revenge for what they did to the Sith during the hinted at Sith war. Hence the title "Revenge of the Sith." Revenge is personal. A more appropriate title for this scenario is "Conquest of the Sith."

KazeAizen Yes and no. Remember, a Sith craves power and ruling the Galaxy and being in control over the Force was what he wanted as well. It was in his greed and vengeance. Though, yes, I do agree it is a kinda form of "Crusades" of sorts. But when Palpatine did involve the Separatists he immediately involved everyone in the Republc. but as I think you mean before all that, when it was just Jedi and Sith hunting one another, then yeah people got hurt from that. :P But again, Sith want power and are afraid of losing it. Getting rid of the Jedi was not enough. Revenge on the Jedi would make it look far too grey, but to involve everyone... just because you want to rule all... that is dark. :P

I was thinking the same thing. I let most of the eye-rolling soliloquy go without a fight, but that one was just pushing it. In my opinion they should've just been like "Hey Lars why don't you take him since Vader probably doesn't know you as much as the two of us. That way if he gets Leia at least Luke will be safe." I also don't really get why Lars calls Obi-Wan out so damn hard and then let's the guy watch over Luke his entire life. Either he's afraid Obi-Wan will corrupt him or he's safest if Obi-Wan is around, it can't be both.

Maybe you could have it so that Obi-Wan insists on staying near Luke to keep him safe, but Owen's distinctly dubious about the idea, and agrees only on the condition that Obi stays at arm's length and doesn't get involved in Luke's upbringing.

I kinda liked the start of this but it doesn't add up in a few places 1. Not all Jedi are on one planet. They are spread out throughout the galaxy. So how would Palpitine exterminate the other Jedi? 2. How would the transition to the Empire go through? 3. What happens to separatist leaders? 4. About a year before the events of Episode 4 Palpitine ended the hunt for Jedi. 5. What happens to Padme? 6. Wouldn't Palpitine want Yoda dead if there were a few left? And what would happen to Jedi that survived the battle? The video is really good, but it has a lot of loose ends.

BM says in the video Palpatine get's even more power so I presume at some point he had so much power he did what did in the actual Episode 3 and made himself Emperor and as we see in Episode 4 he makes the senate void 3. Again, BM implies the Separatist leaders are in the base when it explodes as he shows them all there at the beginning with Grevious. As this is the Separatists last stand I doubt they'd have anywhere else to go 4. Because this is fan faction I presume the era of 3-4 would be very very very different so I wouldn't apply EU to this, man 5. Again it's implied she died as we see her frail with the baby. Also Leia does say her mother died when she was young so we do get closure 6. I presume Palpatine has scouts scouring the Galaxy for Yoda, not too sure how to answer that question. I presume they'd carry on until the "new" big bad Darth Vader hunts them all down It's a very good video he just leaves a lot to interpretation! Which is very good in my opinion and quite a lot like the originals! Hope those answered your questions brother :)

Your trilogy is perfect. We show Superman having a bit more of a positive view from the people of Metropolis and the world, which pisses of Lex Luthor, who to the public image has used his $$ to fix up the city. Lex says some anti-Superman propaganda to the public and slowly plants seeds of how Superman is seen as a villain. From Batman's perspective, he'd be on-off dating Vicki Vale (currently off, but you see there's a connection). And it would be established that these two are friends. That way their fight has weight to it.

Why is it droids that capture palpatine?! You said you wanted Grevious to be badass and that he's pissed, so why not rework the situation into something like this: Padme is still defending palpatine, but just when they're getting overwhelmed by droids, some major Jedi steps in, like Aayla Secura or someone. Then, they apprehensively watch as Grevious arrives and tears through a few clones to get to them. Aayla does well against Grevious for a second, but she gets her ass kicked the second he reveals his four arms. Heck, she could even be the Jedi that gets stabbed by a charred wrist. He would toss Padme aside like she's nothing and grab palpatine. Bam. Situation ten times cooler, plus we get to see Grevious's four arms.

He can still get major bad ass shots in his attack on the senate and still affect a cunning escape to Mustifar where he later punches holes in people if that is what you think Star Wars really needs. Maybe Grievous was sent to attack the senate by Sidious with two missions: Secure and capture the Chancellor (who is Sidious himself unbeknownst to Grievous), and kill some other influential Senator/Senators about to make some kinda of vote counter to Sidious' plans. This way Grievous can capture Palpatine but has to hand off the return of the prisoner to his underling droids cause he has more unfinished business...

I re-watch this What If Star Wars prequel trilogy every year. It's so good!! Only change I would make is to have Darth Maul almost get killed by Anakin and somehow escape/break free instead. This would tie into Darth Maul's more canon story of his abandonment of the Sith and subsequent storyline in the animated Clone Wars and Rebels series. actually there was an alternate, or rather original ending for heroes season 2. originally there were plans for another 2 or 3 episodes where peter failed to capture the falling vial with the virus, and then it spreads out, and when nathan dies in that press confrence, it's because of the virus, not a gun shot. and the 3rd season would have been called exodus. they made 2 endings depending on how the writer strike would go. the 13 episode version was the originally intended ending, but the 11 episode ending that did air was the alternate ending they made in case if the writer strike were to last for too long, which it did.

One of the things I especially like about this rewrite is that it keeps the mystery of Darth Vader in tact. Like, you could guess Anakin and Vader are the same person, but the fact that Obi-Wan is the main character AND we never see the transformation of Anakin means that when Obi-Wan says that Vader murdered Anakin we are far more likely to believe him because he was our main character for the prequels and why the heck would he lie to us or Luke? I also liked the fact that Leia is never revealed directly. Padmé can be seen holding a baby in the artwork, but we are left to assume that that is Luke and not his sister (which also keeps the reveal of "there is another Skywalker" in tact). Overall really cool hypothetical!

That's the master stroke of Sidious's plan, the payoff to him making a clone army, & the explanation of how you kill unbeatable magic warriors: Have their own troops shoot them in the back. Honestly, it feela like it kind of goes off the rails from there. Why does Obi-Wan go from "the Sith Lord needs a trial" to "I must leave Anakin to die"? Yoda deciding to ditch the galaxy for 20 years is kind of a dick move & the implication that it's his plan makes no sense when he tries to turn Luke away. Also, I liked the finale duels.

My thing about episode 3 is that while I agree we don't need to see Darth Vader suit. I do think we need to see Anakin adopt the identity because it gives more credibility to Obi Wan. Obi Wan tells Luke Vader betrayed and murdered his father. so what if anakin in a speech to Obi-Wan confronts him about all he's lost because of the jedi. his mother, his chance at a family with padma (because she's missing at the time in the rubble), and his chance at being a father (another surprise to Obi wan because anakin is aware she's pregnant, but think she's dead.) then he throws down his lightsaber and say you lied to me and I was nothing but your slave well no more. Anakin Skywalker is dead, (he force pulls one of grievus red lightsabers and ignites it) my name is Darth Vader. fight continues.

I have seen and heard many ways to re-do but all with hate, anger, and impatient. But these are told beautifully with a pitch that flows smoothly between 3 movies with a theme that is truly one with the force

I love your alternate take on the prequels, but the problem is, we're still gonna know that Vader is Luke's father. There is no way anyone would believe Vader is a new character introduced in EP4, because Obi-Wan tells Luke Vader was his Padawan and got turned to the dark side, killing Luke's father. Anakin used Vader's signature move (the force choking) on Maul, got heavily injured, but didn't die on screen and most importantly no other Padawan of Obi-Wan is mentioned. The only thing that isn't spoiled is Leia's relation to Luke and Vader.

None of us really knew what characters were going to be the leads characters in any Prequels.
