I think this could have stayed. Coruscant, Kashyyyk, Felucia, Mustafar, Kamino, Geonosis, Polis Massa, Utapau: these are all amazingly creative planets, far outsripping any Vancouver backlot planets used in the new trilogy, and they more then make up for us seeing Tatooine and Alderaan again. A little bit of familar can be good if you feel like you are consuming a genuinely new product.
@archivey-h8e6 жыл бұрын
Yeah actually there was enough new planets in the Prequels to excuse having Tatooine and Alderaan again, good point, Lucas really should have planned out the 3 Prequels more.
@jaygon86566 жыл бұрын
Seriously, think about the environments we've seen in Disney's trilogy. We had another desert planet, a Yavin-esque forest planet, and an ice planet which also doubled as another Death Star. Then we had another desert planet again in Rogue One. And now a salt desert planet and the boring grey islands planet where Luke is in TLJ. They even literally blow up a Coruscant-looking planet in Ep 7 as the ultimate fuck-you to the prequels. But the new planets are so boring! I admit, seeing Mustafar again and the Bahamas planet in Rogue One and Canto Bight in TLJ where pretty interesting, with the latter even having a little of the Prequel flair to it, but I think Disney could be doing better with the planets here.

These are such great videos. I (personally) would've done the Separatists differently. Dooku would be a full blown Seppie, and we should've been introduced to him in Ep. 1. That way, we think he's the Sith Lord and Maul is his guy (incidentally, this allows us to leave the Clone Wars TV show largely untouched as it's much better than the prequels by themselves). This also means we can be legit surprised when Palpatine is revealed as the actual Sith Lord (especially if we watch the movies in number order). Definitely make Obi-Wan the main character, and definitely show more of Obi and Ani being friends and working well together. The only other thing I'd really change is the overall timeframe. Make the Clone Wars something that last for a significant amount of time. That way Obi and Ani are older at the end, closer to who they were supposed to be in EP. 4. Great videos! Keep up the good work.

The only problem I have with this idea is the lack of a scene where Anakin is influenced by the dark side. I don't think his fight with Maul is enough. That's why the scene where Anakin kills the Tusken Raiders works. It showed how he susceptible to the dark side's influence. Plus it was probably the only scene that Hayden Christensen did a decent job.
@CLSGL9 жыл бұрын
+Ian Babcock Agreed. Everyone forgets that his mother being killed is probably one of Anakins main reasons he's more susceptible to the dark side. The way I see it, there are three main reasons for him turning. In this order. 1- Padme dying in his vision. 2- His mother dying. 3- The Jedi Council not seeing Anakin as a master. If his mother didn't die, he wouldn't have had so many issues there, probably would've become a master, curing his trust issues, and thus he wouldn't have been angry enough to kill Padme at her "betrayal". Also, Hayden's strong point is definitely his ability to act out fear, hatred, sadness, etc.. Which is a very good thing seeing as though that's how Anakin is. He reacts stronger to negativity than positivity. Sorry for the novel but I don't do well with not explaining things xD

Brad Doan Hmmm....... That might have been the reason for casting Christensen in the first place.
@CLSGL9 жыл бұрын

@ianbabcock68029 жыл бұрын
***** I guess the main point I was trying to convey is that I think that a scene where Anakin uses his rage is much better for his character development than a scene where he merely witnesses rage. I feel that we need to know before going into Revenge of the Sith that Anakin has used the Dark Side before. A good example of the type of scene that would be good for this movie is in Star Wars: Rebels episode 7 "Gathering Forces" The main character inadvertently uses the Dark Side during a dire situation. Maybe we see Anakin use a Sith technique during his fight with Maul. Maybe the Lightsaber Throw move is primarily a Dark Side power. Perhaps during Anakin's fight with Maul, Maul gets a little too close to Padme and Anakin uses the Lightsaber Throw move. You could use the fight scenes with Maul to show the similarities and differences between Obi-Wan and Anakin. They both have rage, but Obi-Wan knows how control and suppress it and Anakin's is unchecked and reckless with it. Just my opinion though.

TrueBeliever i think this would be way too obvious foreshadowing. Having roles sort of reverse would not only give the charecters more dimension but also it would be more of an emotional plotline if anakin is actually the one that is more succeptible to the dark side, im thinking in 3 his ideals are tested way more and we see that now that he has to face the real spiritual test to be a jedi and fails to do so despite of how heroic he may be.

I feel that the climax, in terms of action, is misplaced. In your premise, the only relevant action Obi-wan takes part in is when he fights Darth Maul during the attack on the conference. It feels like that's the climax in terms of your plot, and everything thereafter is denouement. That makes Obi-wan's confrontation with Dooku feel especially out of place. The interaction with Dooku feels more philosophical than anything. I can see it being important, but at the same time, it shouldn't be where you place your cliffhanger. It would've worked better if you'd put Dooku meeting Obi-wan before the attack on the conference. Then you also get the feeling when everyone's saying "Dooku and Maul are working together" that someone is pulling the strings in a larger setting.
@Zippity1815 жыл бұрын
Your right and I thought this too, albeit 3 years later XD. I also thought on the fly how I would revise this revision of what we got so... What if the end of what if episode 2 was good was good? The only change to the plot outlined in the video prior to Geonosis is Maul arriving with droids, I think droids work better as a separatist thing and Maul has either Bounty hunters or some fancy different droids (like the super battle droids) with him. Obi Wan arrives at Dooku's place and is Flash Gordening his way in, working out what is going on and he spies on a meeting of the separatists. They are in disarray after the attack on the peace talks and arguing, Dooku arrives and says his worst fears have been realized, he reveals there is a greater plot going on and that he has been contacted by a Sith. Its the same sort of story as in the video lord but focuses on how the sith want to recruit Dooku and the separatists to defeat the corrupt republic, he even fears they were responsible for inciting the initial attack on Alderan (episode 1) that started this whole separatist cause and that they are all being played. Just as Obi Wan is about to reveal himself and help Dooku's argument he is knocked out by Maul and dragged away. Meanwhile on Alderaan Palpatine is informing the Jedi and senators that they have tracked Dooku to Alderan and suspect he is in league with Maul and the sith so are sending an army. Padme tells Anakin, he mentions Obi Wan is there and they go to help him. Owen Lars agrees to help as Anakin can't safely pilot them until he's spent some time getting to grips with his new hand (pardon the pun). On their journey we maybe get a bit of fun backdoor piloting from Anakin but the main plot points are Anakin frustrated at his weakness and desire to be stronger as he practices fighting with his new hand. Padme watches this and asks questions about his training with Obi Wan (and Anakin can say how much he respects and likes Obi Wan) and Padme slightly relaxes Anakin and the two bond. They see Obi Wan's ship, land next to it and Anakin and Padme follow the path Obi Wan took While Owen guards the ships. Back on Geonosis Obi Wan wakes up in a dark room captured by Maul who mocks him saying he knew Obi Wan's hatred of him was his weakness an he used that, now his plan is complete and it's only a matter of time before he can make Obi Wan suffer the same pain he has (i.e he gonna get tortured and his legs cut off). Just as Obi Wan is about to shout back Maul Gags him and opens the doors to reveal the Separatist leadership and presents Obi Wan to them. Maul then says he speaks for the Sith who are only here to help, they come with proof of the republic's intentions, a Jedi assassin sent to kill Dooku! The separatists are now convinced the Republic is evil, set to destroy them and they have to turn to the Sith and War. Dooku is however still hesitant, knowing assassins isn't exactly the Jedi way. Just as he says this however Anakin and Padme break into the room, Anakin going full tilt at Maul wanting revenge and enraged by Obi Wan being tied up. The Separatists run from the room, Padme frees Obi Wan. Just before they join the fight against Maul Dooku pulls them and Anakin away with the force, lights his lightsaber and says enough is enough, the republic has gone too far, it's time for war. The room fills with Droids and our heroes are about to be overpowered when Owen runs in guiding Palpatine's clone forces along with some Jedi, who are all shocked to see Dooku and Maul working together. A massive fight ensues with casualties on both sides (including Dooku unless we really want him in part 3) and Maul fights his way out. Anakin and Obi Wan both want to follow him but Padme convinces them both they are too weak after all they have been through to face him. The end is done in 3 parts that overlap, Maul flying away and speaking with a hologram of Sidious about how successful their plan has gone at starting a war and taking control over the separatists, our defeated heroes flying away watching a huge battle break out on Geonosis and contemplating their failures and finally a speech before the Senate by Palpatine about how diplomacy had failed, the jedi have failed and war has begun. I think this is a better end as we do get a ot more. Obviously a bit more climatic action at the end. We see how Sidious is so good a manipulator he controlled this whole thing to start a war and sway the separatists to his side.We build the relationships of our heroes. We can better set up the Jedi being directly involved in the failure to stop the war, discrediting them and mking the senate favoring Palpatine over them in episode 3 more plausible. We get more Maul vs Obi wan. We set up Anakin's evil side more strongly for the next one. Finally we touch on Padme being the linch pin of our trio of heroes as the one who persuades them at the end. This is vital as I think Padme needs to be more than just a love interest but rather the rational one who keeps Obi Wan and Anakin from acting rashly. Her death/soon to be death in 3 can cause their big fight not just because they now hate each other and blame the other for her fate but because she was the only one who could talk them out of it, it would be a good bit of harsh irony. Sorry that got way long, I did literally come up with it as I went and I'll be honest, I'm rather happy with it.

So in your version you have no signs of Anakin turning to the dark side at all? The foreshadowing in episode 2 where he went mad and killed all the Tuscan raiders was like the most important part of the movie as far as Anakin's character development goes... You can't have him as a young innocent boy forever and it's probably not enough for him to go from Saint ---> Sith in one movie
@saphiriathebluedragonknight3759 жыл бұрын
+ally mcdaid I agree. Anakin's innocence needs to be broken somehow in the second movie. Like how Luke's innocence was broken in episode five when he found out the truth about his father.
@geneparmesan87489 жыл бұрын
+ally mcdaid I think the Dooku scene in Ep 3 was enough to achieve breaking his innocence. Belatedmedia's 3 will probably introduce something like that. As for Anakin's anger, it looks like that's going to be kicked off by a love triangle - plus, this video establishes frustration and self-doubt. The main difference between this trilogy and the one we have is that this one doesn't center on Anakin. His development can get side focus.
@geneparmesan87489 жыл бұрын
***** It was supposed to be foreshadowing, it was just very poorly done (how could Lucas think "hmm, Step 1: Village massacre. Step 2: behead Dooku" is a natural progression of growing more evil?).

+James Gardner Because he starts to forsake the teachings of the Jedi. The murder of the Tusken Raiders was borne out of pure rage, a moment of weakness where Anakin just unleashed his wrath. The duel with Dooku has elements of pride and a desire for revenge, but after Anakin has him beat you can see the turmoil within him: he wants to follow the teachings of the Jedi (simply killing someone is not the jedi way), but at the same time he's being coerced into taking the easy way out/dark path of just killing him for the good of the Republic.

I agree with you - only, I'd make one change. When Anakin's mother dies, he's not alone. He's with Obi-Wan. So, he doesn't take part in a massacre - the point of this is that Anakin internalizes and tries to supress this urge because of Obi-Wan (this in turn shows not only how close they are, but how much Anakin admires Obi-Wan to the point where his murderous rage is literally overridden by his master). So, over time, this rage festers inside him like a sickness until it comes to a boiling point... and then he massacres *everyone* - only change I would've done in the Clone Wars, tbh. Oh, and show Anakin and Obi-Wan being great friends, of course. 100% agree on that front.

I do respect your view, but I personally do like Anakin being cocky on his own power rather than unsure of himself. I feel that it fits more in line with what he becomes as Vader, and it kinds of shows where Luke gets it from. Luke is pretty cocky and whiny until he gets humbled. They even say in A New Hope that he has too much of his father in him, and that they're afraid of that. I like that we get an Anakin that is over confident, and quick to anger.
@Mrryn2 жыл бұрын
I think there can easily be a balance between the two (fitting because it's when that balance is broken that Anakin falls to the extreme of the Dark Side). Like Anakin can be outwardly confident and even a bit brash or snarky at times, but in a more intimate setting with someone he trusts and confides in like Obi Wan, his deeper insecurities are revealed. And it's when those insecurities start to overpower his self-confidence that makes him start to spiral and overcompensate, initially with attitude and eventually with seeking out a means to gain more power and control. I think it gives Anakin more depth as a character, makes him feel human and makes his downward spiral into the Dark Side feel more natural and understandable rather than just a dude with a temper and an overinflated ego that gets humbled and then flares more and more out of control until he starts murdering a room full of children. And imo it actually puts him more in line with Luke even in A New Hope, where Luke does have some moments of blunt cockiness but being more reserved, unsure, and reluctant when alone with people like Old Ben.

Open the movie with Maul and his separatist droids attacking Tattooine. Introduce our heroes properly. Kill off Anakin's mother. Seed more of Anakin's dark temptations that he can be facing for the rest of the movie. Then end the film with a proper climactic battle between Count Dooku and Obi Wan that ends in a stalemate before they have their big reveal and this a fully legit film.

I left a comment on "What If Episode I Were Good" about how to kill Shmii off. If Obi-Wan and Padme help Anakin escape Jabba (who I think should own the Skywalkers) and Shmii dies stalling Jabba's guards, that fixes the Shmii problem. Dooku should remain a hero like Michael said in this video. It never made sense that Dooku was so wracked with grief about Qui-Gonn's death that he left the Jedi Order, only to join the Dark Side and knowingly join the man responsible for said death.

I really like your thoughts on this, especially what you've done with Dath Maul, your bang on the money with him and Obi Wan having this tense feud that's growing throughout the prequels but what message is Dooku sending by dying in the end? If anyone has any theories I'd like to hear it, I just can't get my head around the ending to your version of Part II.

The main war about to start is Separatists vs Republic. Dooku stays on Geonosis and is obliterated by the Republic forces after doing no wrong, martyrng himself and showing that the Republic is not the "good" side in this conflict
@plumbummusic20512 жыл бұрын
I would instead suggest that Dooku would try to accuse Palpatine of being aligned with the Sith (maybe making a last minute connection after meditating) then trying to attack him and ultimately getting killed as Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme are being escorted out so they can only watch without being able to do anything. So, similar to this but without the "go without me, I must die" cliché.

In my opinion, Episode 2 still needs a true climatic battle to represent the start of the clone wars. It should still set up the two sides of the conflict while further underpinning the Sith Plot. I agree the remilitarization of the Republic doesn't need to be as deceptive. It would be better introduced by showing incidents that would necessitate an army such as the one you described with the Senators. I also believe Count Dooku deserves representation. I like the idea of Dooku being shown as a disillusioned Jedi who, under the influence of Sideous, forms and leads the separatist movement. Obi Wan's interactions could show him as a composed competent man with a strong conviction. I don't believe he should fall to the dark side or be aware of Sideous's true nature. He should be shown as being manipulated so that there's almost an agony when he has to face his longtime allies. As for Maul, I like him being a direct opponent for Obi Wan to overcome throughout the trilogy.
@vampkilmer5 жыл бұрын
I dunno about needing a true climactic battle... the ending as he presents it has some nice echoes of Amidala's response to the Senate's failure, "So this is how democracy dies... with thunderous applause." Palpatine has convinced everyone that using the droids to protect everyone is for "the greater good", but from the main character's POV we see it's all a ruse to cover for his takeover. We'd still get some epic battle scenes (I like +NickLongo comment about Dooku defending his base and felling countless droids before he's finally overrun by sheer numbers), but at the same time we know it's a hollow victory, but sets us up well for the victories in the future.

I was rewriting the prequels before I knew about these videos and I also added Alderaan for the same reason. But one thing I have to say this version did really wrong was that Obi-Wan and Anakin ignite their lightsabers first (yes, I am quoting Jeremy Jahns). A Jedi only engages in a fight when he has to. The fact that Obi-Wan AND Anakin have rage fueling them to battle Maul is totally against the Jedi Order.

I like parts of your story. But overall it was a little bit underwhelming compared to the actual film. In your version it only leaves 1 film for Anakin to turn to the dark side, which seems thrown in and quick. In Episode II the seeds are planted for him to accept the dark side, such as falling in love with Padme. That little bit of rebellion shows that anakin is ok with bending the rules. I don't think half of the movie should be a romance film, but if your version of the film was the real one, we would need more seeds of rebellion in Anakin.

+Ootini4 the stupidity of jedis not allowed to love or have families is why he turns if they werent vulcans and supressing emotions rather then controlling them like say iono a monk of real life. monks learn to harness their emotions into goals and tools they dont supress them and remove them. understand emotions need to be and using them as tools much like a lightsaber and the force to achieve justice and peace would have made the jedi alot smarter then just "emotions are bad they lead to the darkside" bs.
@NS-oi9yd9 жыл бұрын
+Ootini4 If he became upset that he couldn't stop mual......maybe he has a little "i wasn't strong enough" lament. That could be a seed enough to show that he is falling for fear....beginning to FEAR loosing people. Palpatine could then play on this fear and a developing love for padime as a reason to closen their relationship and hint that he wasn't strong enough perhaps because the light side just won't give him the power he needs to save those he cares about.....
@tcironbear219 жыл бұрын
+Ootini4 He solves that by having Anakin quit the Jedi and joining up with the Palaptine administration as the new liaison to the Jedi in Episode 3. Only the fall to the dark side happens in Episode. The transformation from Anakin to Darth Vader actually happens over the some 20 years between Episode 3 & 4. And the thing is this does not ruin the reveal that Anakin is Darth Vader.

Also, I would want to see Yoda actually DO something super badass (preferably not with a lightsaber) in the Prequels.
@BIGBMH9 жыл бұрын
+Christoph13131 Agreed, I think Maul escaping unscathed from Episode 1 helps in giving Obi-Wan a desire to grow strong enough to best him. If he's cut in half, Obi-wan already beat him once. Also with you on the Yoda thing. Maybe some great telekinetic feat would make sense since Empire establishes a foundation for that.
@ChristophelusPulps9 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Maybe something pretty badass in Ep. II, but have none of the other Jedi masters make a big deal about it, because duh, it's Yoda. Then in Ep. Perhaps something so big that he loses a lot of his strength, putting him in his weary, near-death state in his swamp for Empire.

This guy gets into the buisiness+the money that comes with it, Disney gets a good reputation with the Star Wars fans+the money that goes with it and it can pave the way for a generation of only bad movies being rebooted. To top it all off, the story is already preconceived so the time it takes to write an entire script is no longer needed and did I mention the $MONEY$. Everyone wins if this happens.

This is amazing and so well thought-out. However, I think Dooku should fight Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan as a main character needs a bigger climax: Dooku DID leave to clear his mind Dooku DID reject Sidious BUT he's not all buddy-buddy. He discovered the old Gray Jedi stuff (helps fill TLJ plot hole) and subscribes to that, balancing his Jedi training with his dark side impulses. Obi-Wan is startled and says something threatening about the release of that info and Dooku draws his lightsaber on him. This is how Obi-Wan loses the past. He lost Qui-Gon as the death of a friend, and he loses his legacy in Dooku as a betrayal. (He will have a catharsis of both of these emotions in Episode III with Anakin) Anakin and friends rescue Obi-Wan in the midst of his losing duel (Dooku is still skilled) and the clones blow that place up. Proceed with your ending. A sad Obi-Wan, but a hopeful Obi-Wan. Also, the Fett idea would be cool. Forget Jango, Boba is a young man, maybe Anakin's age, not in the Mandalorian garb yet. He deserves a cameo, but he doesn't need a father/son backstory.

I love this video. The only thing I would change is the ending to your third act. It's all set up for a pretty thrilling escape from Dooku's base. While Anakin and Padme are on their way to rescue Obi Wan from the impending clone attack, Darth Sidious sends Maul to finish off both Obi and Dooku (secretly he's hoping the attack will push Obi Wan closer to the dark side, since you established in Episode I that Sidious think Obi Wan was the powerful Jedi he felt). The clones begin their attack, interrupting Kenobi and Dooku's conversation. They're about to leave when Maul shows up w/ some droids. Obi Wan is eager to rip into his nemesis while Dooku, sensing Obi's anger, wants to stop him from going too far. Anakin and Padme show up, and Anakin wants to help Obi Wan fight, but w/ his prosthetic hand still new to him he's of little help. Maul is about to whoop them both when Dooku gets involved, showing off his skills as a former Jedi. He drives Maul off and the team is like "let's get outta here," but Dooku opts to stay behind, etc, etc. Other than that, this is awesome.

I have an idea to add to the mix of I, II and III. The separatists (former trade federation?) is a slightly under-cooked idea. Yes they have a droid army - but the ubiquity and servitude of non-combat droids is too good a strategic advantage to deny. Given that we know Obi Wan is supposed to have owned R2 in the past I would like to see a proto-R2 introduced in Ep 1. Either on Nab-Alderaan (or on Tatooine) Qui Gon and Obi Wan encounter a farmer/droid owner who's found his R2 acting suspiciously (thinks it has a 'bad motivator') and is tinkering with it, trying to get it back on track. The R2 is a separatist spy and seeing the lightsabers of the Jedi its shadow programming kicks in and it begins to tail/ingratiate itself to them by being useful (hacking) or else otherwise stowing away on their ship in order to feed the separatists intel. The R2 is a bit erratic, there's space for a comedy beat etc. The culmination of this subterfuge is shown later on Alderaan as R2 helps engineer Darth Maul's invasion of the summit. He's the one that helps Maul to gain access to the senators et al. and Anakin of course witnesses this as you've placed him in this scene. (Perhaps I could come up with more here) But I would say that R2 witnesses the destruction on Geonosis ... and perhaps later on, his buggy spy software/hardware giving him moments of lucidity... learns more about the corruption and evil that he has helped perpetrate. In Ep. III R2 would make a voluntary sacrifice either to erase his core programming or take a lazer for a Jedi (perhaps stand up to one of those nasty shielded attack droids) and is thought to be destroyed. Only to be later refurbished into the R2 that in Ep. IV claims to have been "owned" by Obi Wan (well, never quite owned directly, but it had come along for the ride and stirred some $hit up on the way). Peace (sorry if this was covered in the other 24,000 comments lol)

I really love your ideas for Count Dooku. There's so much potential in the actual film with Dooku trying to convince Obi-Wan that he's on the wrong side of this conflict, only for that to amount to nothing and he's just a stooge for Palpatine. The clone troops bombing Dooku into oblivion is a powerful image, but I'd preempt that with Dooku wiping out scores of ground troops single-handed while the heroes make their getaway; really show off the guy who trained Qui-Gon similar to what we later got from Vader in 'Rogue One' and the mystery Jedi on 'Mandalorian.'

I love this and really wish someone had thought of these things when making the prequels, however, I do have some comments and additions as well. I concur that adding Owen is a great addition to the story and humanizes Anakin a lot and makes him having Luke make sense, adding Bail to be a brother (or at least a relation) to be a good reason for him to have Leia. I do however believe that moving Naboo to Alderaan to be unnecessary for the first movie, Padme could still be Queen of Naboo, while Bail could be the leader of Aldeeran, just look at royalty family relationships in Europe and it can make sense. Obi-wan's uneasiness you suggest is great but not dependent on being on the same planet where Qui-gon died, just being around Padme after all these years would be enough to bring those memories back. Adding Maul is a good twist, however, what if he was indeed a "third-party", making waves and disruptions to Sidious' plans? After his failure at Naboo, he wouldn't be a sith apprentice anymore, he would have been kicked to the curb. Perhaps Maul is trying to carve his own piece or the galaxy or perhaps he is just trying to prove that he is still relevant and worthy to be a sith apprentice? Later in the movie, after Owen is ingrained as a friend to Anakin, perhaps he sent word back home that he was working with Anakin (so exicting!) when he gets word from his family that Anakin's mother was murdered by Sandpeople. Owen being a true friend has to break the news to about the death to Anakin, he does NOT need to run to Tatooine and go on a murdering spree but it puts a crack into his wall of virtue and plants the seeds of the dark side. He can lament that he should have gone seen her, he should have protected her. Owen: "You have not seen your mother since you left Tatooine?" Anakin: "It is forbidden, I had to cut all ties." Owen: "Why?" Anakin: "The Jedi Code forced me to." This can show the beginning of his contempt for the Jedi Code without jumping of that murder cliff to quickly. Finally, Count Dooku. This is probably my biggest disagreement with your video. Dooku in at least the frist 1/2 - 3/4 of the movie should be a man conflicted, he has given up the Jedi and he is duty bound to protect his people (since the Separatist people do have legitimate complaints against the Republic), he might have been contacted by Sidious as you suggest but not given as much information, but enough to make him wary of how far the corruption in the Republic has spread or who Sidious is. His talk with Obi-wan is good, his dedication to the Separatist people are good, he should have a speech with Anakin to make him trust his beliefs and virtue (A Jedi is a Jedi, no matter what type thing). So they let him go, the battle begins much like the battle in the movie goes, Anakin and Obi-wan join, etc. Dooku barely alive, desperate is confronted by Sidious and as a man over the edge, he fails to the dark side (ultimately betraying Anakin's trust) Maul, furious at being ignored by his former master, confronts him and is given a beat down but is not killed, he is given a chance to redeem himself (more puppetry by Sidious without the huge and boring politics scenes). ****** Small jump to Revenge of the Sith ******** I won't go into RotS too much here, I just want to comment that now we have both Obi-wan revenging against Maul, we have Anakin revenging against Dooku for his betrayal of his believes in joining the Sith (I guess a Jedi isn't always a Jedi type situation). So when Anakin and Ob-wan go to rescue Palpatine in RotS, Obi-wan can be separated from Anakin and a major beat down with Maul can happen at the same time the beat down between Anakin and Dooku happens. Anakin defeats Dooku like in the movie and murders him at Sidious' command. Obi-wan defeats Maul, has his lightsaber to his throat about to kill him just as Anakin did to Dooku, but he stops: "No, murder is not the Jedi way. You will pay for your crimes but I do not have the power to judge you." Stark contrast to Anakin's murder, proving Obi-wan, even after a hard war is still a Jedi and Anakin's fall has begun.

too difficult to remember it when it is talked through so fast.... some fans needs to make a budget fan movie using this script, then it can become canon.

I think Obi Wan and Anakin should've already been friends at the start of Episode 1. This would allow Episode 2 to focus on Anakin slowly turning to the darkside, and Obi Wan coming to grips with the fact he may have to kill his friend,(since the second act of the three act dramatic structure is usually the darkest and most emotional part of the story), rather than having to cram Anakin's turn to evil and his helping to destroy the Jedi all in the last movie. Nothing against your rewrite, this is just my personal feedback

I love this version of the prequels and consider it canon, but there are a few issues I have. One of the biggest ones is that Anakin shows no signs of turning to the dark side in this episode. I understand that some seeds are sown by showing him a rage fueled battle and chopping off his arm, but I think this episode could use a scene where we actually see a hint of darkness in Anakin, therefore making it more believable when he does turn in the next movie. There are many ways this could be done, but here is my idea: Jar Jar Binks. *GASP* I suggest that Jar Jar could have been included in Episode I and played a small sidekick role and helped move things along. He would be a likable character that provides comic relief that is actually funny and not over the top. I propose that in Episode I, when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan first land on Naboo (now Alderaan), it is actually Jar Jar that saves them from a close shot and helps them escape the forest and gets them to the royal palace. This way he has some importance and gets a chance to have some dialogue that makes us like him rather than being a bumbling idiot designed only for kids that's just along for the ride. Oh yeah, and while we are meeting him, Qui Gon realizes that the Force is strong with him and he gets dropped off at the Jedi Temple with Anakin (as it happens in the Belated Media version), where we get a glimpse of a blooming friendship between the two new Jedi learners. Where he really becomes significant is in Episode II. We get a few scenes early on to show us that Jar Jar, who is a funny character that you can't help but root for (like BB8 in episode 7), and Anakin are really good friends. There is eventually a scene where Jar Jar and Anakin are on a mission, perhaps to get some information about the Separatists or the Sith. They are in somewhat of a sketchy neighborhood (this will help show the "lived-in" aspect of the Star Wars universe) and Anakin goes out of his way to help a man struggling in a life/death situation. However, later in the scene, after this man expresses his gratitude and follows them a bit, Jar Jar is unexpectedly shot and killed by this man, who is secretly a bounty hunter for the Separatists or Sith (this can be where Jango Fett fits in). As Jar Jar, an innocent, beloved friend, dies in Anakin's arms in an emotional, stunning scene, Anakin's tears turn to rage as he loses faith in the idea of helping people and experiences such ungrateful cruelty for the first time ever. As Anakin turns on Jango and easily corners him using his anger and the Force, he takes out his lightsaber but doesn't ignite it as he can't bring himself to kill, or even injure, the cowering man. He merely destroys the man's weapon and questions him briefly before turning away, confused and bewildered. This would be such a powerful scene because we would see a hint of Anakin's potential abilities with the use of anger, but he would still maintain his peaceful demeanor by leaving the man in one piece despite his desire to slaughter him. In Episode III, we can recall this event as having caused Anakin serious grief and emotional wear-and-tear, therefore making his fall more believable. This would also add more to his eventual fall in Episode III because there would be more factors influencing him than just an insatiable desire for power. Essentially, this is a version of the scene we got in the real Episode II with Anakin's mom dying that fits into this version of the prequels. What do you guys think?
@AtlasBlizzard Жыл бұрын
7 years late but I love this idea! Making Jar Jar actually relevant to Anakin would've been a great angle.

I think it's the right idea to only have Yoda mentioned and never seen. It should be Mace Windu in all those scenes guiding Obi Wan. Also keeping C-3P0, R2-D2 and Boba Fett completely out the prequels is a good thing!
@BonesCapone10 жыл бұрын
I think they should've kept R2 in as Padmé's, and 3P0 as Bail ' s so it makes sense that they know each other, and both wind up in Liea's possession at the start of four/ A New Hope.
@TheDarkLordOfBass10 жыл бұрын
They're robots. They could have been built the day before Episode 4 begins. We know they're not because they talk about things that have happened to them but we've got about 17 years in between the trilogies. They shouldn't be part of the prequels.
@icbarefoot10 жыл бұрын
TheDarkLordOfBass I agree about the robots, they don't need a back story really. I'm not sure that Yoda should never be seen...but very seldom. Less is more.

Without the droids, you lose a lot of the potential for humor. In fact, I think they weren't in there enough, at least not as a team. Personally, I thought it would be interesting if someone wrote the movies from the perspective of R2. He's the only character that's in all the movies with any significant participation in all of what's going on, who would remember any of it. You have C3PO who has his memory wiped between 3 and 4; Obi-Wan, who dies in the 4th, and only has a few brief scenes as a ghost in the last 2; and Anakin/Vader, who is already the focus of the story. Plus he has such a strong personality it would be interesting to see his perception of the events of the series.

Hmmmm not bad, tho' I have to disagree with Yoda not using a lightsaber. How does that go against Yoda's being...Yoda? Of course we never saw him use a lightsaber in Episode V and VI, by then he was in exile, he didn't need to display his prowess with one. Lightsabers are PART of being a Jedi, so there really was no harm in him being a good duelist on top of his great control of the Force. Tho' that's just my opinion so take it as you will.

@@elie6330 It actually makes a lot of sense for yoda not using lightsaber, because he is obviously modelled after secluded zen master. So he ultimately doesnt really fit in the set of jedi council managing security for the repuplic

'Cause, like, Yoda's whole thing is that the Force isn't physical. "War's not make one great," he chides Luke after he says he's looking for a great warrior. Like the whole point of Yoda is that Luke thought a super powerful Force user would be someone who looked big and buff and like a warrior, but in reality he's just a small little gremlin, because the Force is bigger than our human ideas of what makes something great or powerful. It exists beyond the physical. The size of the X-Wing doesn't matter. "I don't believe it," Luke says. "And that is why you failed," Yoda answers. Yoda's teachings about the Force were never about feats of physical strength or athletic ability. They were about the will and the mentality of WHAT it even meant to use the Force, let alone HOW to use it. Boiling all Jedi ever down to "great warriors" is completely antithetical to everything we learned about Yoda in the original trilogy, and in turn what he helped Luke and the audience learn about the Force.
