Glad KZbin recommend this. Pretty fun. But technically if you blow up the moon most of the chunks would just keep drifting away due to inertia so only a fraction of it would reform. Then again depends on the energy. This video is an assumption that the moon suddenly reaches the Roch limit. The orbit is elliptical so if the moon slowly move closer there's a good chance it'll get yeeted off (after leaving some good chunks for us to deal with

Hi :D Thank you for this comment! I love to discuss such things. If we were to blow up the moon in its current orbit, we would probably lose parts of it in the form of debris, as you say. And yes. In order for the things I said in the video to work, you have to bring the moon towards the earth in a controlled manner through continuous braking at the right points. If you simply slow the moon down, its orbit becomes increasingly elliptical and that could then, as you say, lead to the moon being thrown out of its orbit. So you would have to slow it down more and more as it moves further away from the Earth in its orbit and less when it comes closer again. Thanks again
