I remember in Silkroad Online, they had a massive issue with bots. There was a train of bots running out and in to the main city's. So a solution the developers did was to put an aoe ring right outside the city, in the bots path. So the bots was just running out and died in this ring. And you could pay to get a pet that can run and get loot, so people with these pets stood around the ring to get the bot loot that was dropped. Weird times!

I was doing vyre slay task and the amount of bots killing vyrewatch sentinels shocked me. I was observing them and when i run away just a few tiles, another bot instantly logged in. I think it would be worth it, if you check those bots out.

The rune dragon bots are easy to distinguish by checking their reaction time to loot on the floor. They always move in on the same tick (or 1 tick apart) for the loot

The botters aren't buying hacked accounts. Jagex automatically unbans every single account that is perm banned after 3 years time. Or between 1095-1100 days. All these botters do is Find old accounts and recycle them every few years. Once unbanned, the accounts have all the stats, gp, and entire bank value they had when banned. And you can effectively bot 24/7 for over 3 months depending on your coding knowledge.

I would love to see Jagex send all these bots to a separate server that can't trade with the rest of the players. They won't know they are just wasting their time by farming until they try and make a trade or sell gold but can't connect with any actual players. Plus Jagex still gets their monthly membership, so it's a win win.

That's just kinda pointless. The bot farmer will realise within a day, they need to be constantly trading gold off as it gets banned often. There isn't much difference between banning an account or waiting until a botter realises it is useless, they'll figure it out at the same time. If you wanted to implement trade restrictions to limit the effectiveness of bots, those restrictions would need to be applied to every account equally. Which is what the game was over a decade ago with the trade limit. There is probably a smarter way to implement it now, but either way it will penalise normal players.

@@Laporch its because jagex has told their shareholders howmuch botters make in reveneu, they told them that it brings millions on the table and that the bots are around 70 to 80% of the whole playerbase. Also not only goldfarmers are using bots but many people want to enjoy the content OSRS has without the need of investing hundreds of hours into mining, woodcutting etc. If they ban or stop most of the bots like they did in 2011/2012 jagex will go broke and the shareholders wont get enough profits which means runescape will die.

One time I was doing a quest with a buddy when a guy came up and starting talking. We werent interested so we ignored them when they said "Ah, not talking, clearly bots, reported." Like, im pretty sure you dont find bots with nearly all the requirements for a quest cape. SMH.

One of my accounts got hacked and had like 95 range when I reacquired it because they were blowpiping revs They took the like 30m off of it cuz it wasn't the main bank, but left like 10m in rings of wealth, etherium bracelets, ether, and a blowpipe... 20m for 95 range? Fair trade imo

On almost every world in the wilderness GWD dungeon, there is one low level killing imps and there are 2 lvl 80-90 accounts killing aviansies. They are definitely bots there to alch ecumenical keys. You've reported it before but it has gotten bigger. Also, there are like lvl 100 abyss rcing bots in edgeville. They don't get banned and I see them rcing like all day every day. Finally, there are a bunch of lvl 27 accounts that are hopping around at Theatre of Blood bank. They are standing underneath this vampire that has a static position near the voting booth against the wall. I think maybe they are scouts to examine peoples gear and inventory to set up lures. Might want to give a PSA to everyone.

Your task is Sisyphean. It takes you so much effort to remove one set of bots, and it doesn't really slow them down. You must make this kind of effort constantly to keep the number of bots "lower" and it will never be zero. Worse, the more bots you get rid of, the more valuable paid services become, which incentivizes more people to attempt botting with more accounts.

Jagex should do a community bot busting stream once a month like the old days but collaborating with you. The rune dragon bots wear 100m+ of gear and some of them have 50m+ attack, str and def XP from using the lance on shared. It would be such a fun stream to watch, especially seeing the wealth on some of the high level bot farms that run on private scripts that don’t get detected by Jagex.

Like there are gold farmers that genuinely play multiple rune dragon accounts at the same time, not botted at all. Theyre not going to respond if you talk to them because theyre on multiple accounts. If you sit at ferox bank, you’ll see plenty of them tele in all wearing the exact same gear (regen bracelets, full justiciar, fire capes, DFS and a lance) They all walk into the clan wars portal, bank with the banker (not the chest) then tele straight back out. I’ve also been at the lumby spawn, added one and it’s chat was on but logged. When it logged back in i followed it to a f2p world to the upstairs lumby bank and there was 10-15 of them all trading their gold over to a level 3 account. 100% bots as alts would trade the GP to their mains

I recently regained access to one of my accounts. I found out it was banned for macroing. When I got back onto it, one was at hill giants and one was making cannonballs. I don’t know what I will do with 7000 cannonballs in f2p sadly, but it has 55 smithing now.

There are machine learning libraries that solve regular captchas with ease and I'm sure botters are smart enough to use. Ofc Jagex should just apply some machine learning algos for banning bots.

They dont care, most dont even use Tutorial Island bots because the ban rate is sky high. There are lots of people that just sit all day behind their computer making accounts by hand, they produce hundreds of those acc's a day and sell them dirtcheap. They will just do a captcha or any other method themself.

The OSRS team cares deeply about their game and the bot issues and they are doing the best they can with their experience.

bots aren't funding the game at all, no real world money from a bot farm enters jagex's bank account, so idk what you mean by "as long as botters keep buying bonds". Ban IP addresses, CAPTCHAs on tutorial island, anything to keep all these bots from impacting the main game. You say that the bots don't impact Jagex financially, but I would encourage you to look at the number of bots when membership goes on sale during a Twitch event. Not only that, but imagine the following hypothetical. I want Nex gear but I'm horrible at the game. I decide the best way is to buy bonds with cash and sell them on the GE. There are thousands of bots being made each day and they all need membership, those bots are single handedly keeping the price of bonds high through there demand. I'd never have bought all those bonds If demand had dropped their price to their real worth, directly paying Jagex.

Lava Dragon Isle has or had as of a week ago a low lvl bot farm all around lvl 30. They usually log pretty fast but if you catch them a real person lvl 70 or lvl 90 will log in to attack you.

Just an FYI SirPugger, if its like it was some years ago there are casual players buying scripts and botting just 1 or 2 accounts for themselves to fund their main accounts/staking addictions/buying stupid things like a Tbow. And have no intention of selling it. Scripts that are not really worth while to farmers, but... they make extra $ selling the old scripts to casuals.

It is, Jagex told that to their shareholders and howmuch money they bring in and now the shareholders are expecting the profit they have promised them from botters. They had been clamping down on farms and regular botters for 2 years and now since the meeting with shareholders i have seen farms running 24/7 for weeks without any ban. Normally if you botted agility you would have been banned withing no time, now you can create 100+ accounts and make them 80/90 agility by running them constantly 8 hours + a day and you wont get banned.

The Gold price decline may be because of the Duel Arena being canned. Most "Staking" and High Risk fighting is declining to a niche side of the community probably so less people need massive amounts of gp.
