What do you think Markquis Nowell's role will be with the Raptors?

*hot take*... If they don't resign FVV or a clear replacement for him... I see Markquis has a potential starter ...he will show out in the summer leuage ...he's the best passer in the draft and playing with NBA talent I can see him averaging 10+ assists easily ..hot take lol but I don't think his height will hold him back as much as most think

In my opinion the fact he's been a fighter his whole career. As you mentioned he's had to prove everyone wrong. He's made it this far. His fire and maturity at 23 (5 yrs at college) will be an underrated asset. I see him making noise with the 905 but as far as the big leagues? We'll see but none the less I'm rooting for the guy!

Why do people keep talking about his age, in the 80's and 90's it was common that players spent 3-4 years in the college system before they entered the NBA and he's entering his prime, so don't believe the hype, this kid still has upside and he has a tremendous I.Q.

How come his height is not a problem? His height is even short for street basketball. He will be the biggest defensive liability due to lacking size and strength. Im also not sure about him contributing on offense.

He's kinda a Freddie v2. So what if he's short (comparatively) look at Muggsie (also a former Raptor) this guy can dribble the ball at the level of the big guys knees. Reach down for the ball big guy. I want to see him at the Rico runs and summer league.

A player his size can be picked on but it doesn’t mean he will be picked on. To go along with his talent if he has the smarts, he will make it. Time will tell but wish you the very best Markquis.

If he can run the 905 unit and help others develop, a great assist guy, he will easily earn this opportunity. Will he see the NBA, even as a 2way, I doubt it and that's ok.

It’s tough to compare him to HoF Isiah Thomas just because they’re comparable in height. But I find it interesting that they do have very similar stats in college. Congratulations to him to getting a spot in an NBA team! It’s up to him now to put in the work on what kind of professional basketball he wants to become. He is the only author of his own destiny.

@gurrarai I agree! I’m so happy the raptors signed him. Did you see him light up Michigan state with his record breaking 19 dimes in the sweet 16, to get them to the elite 8? Game breaker! So he’s 5’8! Muggsy Bogues was short too and carved out a nice nba career! Looking forward to him betting on himself and eventually ending up on the raptors

Get healthy Bro! At the very least this guy can teach D Banton how to be professional guard. Work on shooting, passing, ball control and how to run a team. If 905 runs same offense as Big Raps then he could help young players learn what Darko wants. I think he can be 3rd to 4th pg on a team change of pace.

Purely skill-wise, a good player comparison is Trae by just the amount of space he creates and breaks down defenses to find the open man. Of course, he is not at the same level but you can see him backing up Young in ATL to keep the same pace with the bench. We would be lucky to have even 35-45% of what Trae brings to the table for back of the bench emergency depth guy to come in with Dowtin and Dalano.
@GolDGreg Жыл бұрын
Isaiah Thomas was a stud and a #1. If dude can ball, which it seems like he can at the college level, then he can thrive.
@AW-xv7dq Жыл бұрын
If they treat him and pay him like a guard that leads the bench then there is a spot for him on any team. You CANNOT make have an undersized guard as frnachise player. Use him in this manner and put him in to up the tempo with a tall rangy lineup and it works

If anyone has done research on Muggsy Bogues you can see that just as much as people might "hunt" a shorter player on offensively to score on ...if the shoter player has pesky defensive intentions he can be the hunter...Muggsy (5'3) was one of the most feared defenders in his time and even stars hated to be gaurded by him ...Markquis height can be used to his advantage the same eay ...plus he has a floater which is a plus on offense *

HE WILL EVENTUALLY MAKE A HUGE IMPACT ON THIS TEAM! why? Have you seen what he did against bigger men in the ncaa tourney? He ran circles around the lottery guy cason wallace and practically broke down defenses with his drive penetration, basically this dude is gonna be Elite .. watch and see .. steal of the draft. I even believe he has a better ceiling than fvv. Despite his size it doesn't matter , this dude got kobe and jordan in his veins...he chose #24 for a reason. And you gotta live up to it...
