What Is A Control Key? | GSL Discussion

What is a control key, exactly? Many of our customers at Guardian Safe & Lock who are unfamiliar with commercial building construction ask us this, so today, Uriah goes over what exactly a control key is.
Control keys are keys cut in a specific manner to allow the removal of interchangeable cores from specific hardware, such as BEST or Schlage branded locks. These keys are crucial to allowing the cores to be pulled from the body to rekey or replace them.

my qustion is, can i pull the cylinder out with the control key while the it is already locked or need to unlock the pins ? my much appreciation

If you have a control key you can pull it out while locked or unlocked

Glad to hear that.... do you rekey SFIC cores? One of our high security key systems from Schlage can fit in SFIC and LFIC.
