I've had my "regular" s2000 since new in 2005. Used it as my daily driver for 12 years and 155000 miles. It's seen me through 2 wives, multiple jobs, and different states of mind. I love it. I just got a Porsche 718 cayman as a dd, but my heart will always be with the s2k. I would sooner sell my house than that car. No major repairs during that time either, just small stuff, cv axles, timing chain tensioner along with brakes and tires. Still on the original clutch too. It's resting comfortably in my garage while the porsche sits outside.

Giggiyygoo nice man. Two wives in 12 years lol. I'm scared to marry just one lol. Is the cayman a manual or pdk?
@Giggiyygoo7 жыл бұрын
drepop803 Yeah, I would say for most people marriage isn't really worth it, although it does put you in a lower tax bracket. :) I got the manual, it's sad that it was actually a little hard to find one on a dealer lot. Only about 1 in 10 are manuals so I was told. I know the PDK is faster and more efficient and all that, but I'm not willing to let go of my clutch pedal just yet.
@Giggiyygoo7 жыл бұрын
Garrett Corley Jezebel, nice. Right, there's something about this car. And you've got the one with the even more insane redline than mine. It's like Al Bundy and his dodge. I think the s2k earned the garage, I doubt the Porsche will hold up anywhere near as well as the honda. It's already needed more repairs in the 6 months I've had it than than the honda had in its whole life

Cool! My dd 04 (bought new too) hit 210k miles & went through 5 other cars since 04. When I reach 250k, I will keep my s2k as weekend car & buy a fun/reliable dd.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been told the hardtops on CR cars were VIN matched. Whereas the regular cars when spec'd with a hardtop were not since it was just an option. Anyways, the s2000 is such a special car to me. There will never be another production car in that price range quite like it. I hope to never get rid of mine.

I remember when the S2K came out in late 99' as a 2000' model. People were paying huge money over sticker and publications went crazy over the 9K redline. Only gripe I had, as well as a few other enthusiasts I knew, was the lack of mechanical gauges. The digital tach was a big turn off for me and always have been. For that reason alone I never really took to this car. To build a car with a 9K redline and not get to see a needle being buried is a bit of a shame.
@johnconnor75017 жыл бұрын
Mike A I agree that and the convertible were a turn off for me. But later on it grew on me. And I put an oem hardtop and forgot it was a convertible.

In the past video you said the coating on the vehicle is soft because of the soft paint. What is the difference between having a soft coating vs just wax? Any difference in protection for the paint?
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
A coating is about 2 microns thick, and a wax is a fraction of a micro. So you'll get a boatload more protection and hopefully scratch resistance from the coating.

I've never understood why you would modify a car and then sell it when you're finally done with your mod plans. Don't you modify a car to your liking? If so, then wouldn't you want to enjoy the fruits of your labor?
@gammalight13127 жыл бұрын
azurebluemach it's a different world at the top, some people just want to buy a built car without the hassle of building, Matt makes that happen for people over and over so that the dealership he sells them to gets a good rep for flipping quality modified cars. Think of it this way, you know what you want but you don't want to wait for parts, specs, wrenching, tuning, working out the bugs and you have a pile of cash burning a hole in your pocket and you know what you're looking at was built right and never driven by a teenager. Me personally, I build my cars and drive them for ~20k then flip em for a new project that I know has a hot market so that I'll net a good return and have enjoyed the build. Rep built cars make their own market, like think of Forza tuning, even if they sold a car with 100k on the body, their build rep sells it and can be trusted.
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
I have a memory of what this car was. I got the car stock and knew that wasn't going to work for me. 200whp/140lb.ft. is brutally slow. I bought all the parts, had the car built for the first time by others, and I still don't love it. I could have done all this stuff myself, but having 5 cars, a KZbin Channel, a retail business, a wealth management business, a massive house and property, and a family meant this car was only going to happen if I had it built for me. Now that I'm done, it's still not good enough. I didn't know that until I did it.
@leemoknows7 жыл бұрын
Obsessed Garage I’m surprised knowing all that you know about S2000’s that you didn’t see this coming before you spent all of your time on it lol. The transformation is pretty amazing. I can understand though, given the type of cars you’ve had since your last S2000. There is still so many people that complete their projects and immediately sell them afterward, and that is hard for me to wrap my head around. The discussions you’ve had with us before you scaled back your collection of cars and hearing you talk about spending more time with them has actually inspired me to drive my garage queen much more than I have in the past.
