"War crime" rhymes with "fun time." Coincidence, I think not.

Fun for whom?! Oh wow, that got very macabre, very quickly, lol.

@loquidity4973 "if you love your job ,you will never have to work a day in your life" a 16th century mercenary's saying regarding the efficacy putting cities to the sword for a living.

Every once a while, you manage to surprise me. Well, now you did it again. Those fighters were well trained and fierce, but also, as far as I know, they fought for whoever could pay. Much like today's mercenaries. Such as the Russian Wagner Group in its ordinary composition. Come to think of it, some of their leaders were gifted tacticians.

Very true! Some of them were veterans of foreign wars as well. And, we can see the beginnings of our modern militaries, in terms of organization and even tactics.

Always glad to surprise 😉

As the Landsknechte burned towns and created smoke, are you able to enjoy our Canadian smoke?
@loquidity4973 Жыл бұрын
We have had more than our fill of your marvelous wildfire smoke. I think it should be shared more generously with other parts of North America. ;-P We are under another air quality alert this week, this time presumably more from fires in norther Alberta and the Northwest Territory. It seems that the Ontario and Quebec fires have decreased a bit. How are things where you live?

@@loquidity4973 British Columbia has the most fires in Canada. All in very steep mountainous areas. But the smoke isn't bad here. That is actually surprising. The actually burned area in Canada would pretty well be beyond understanding for a European. I don't call myself a European, but of European descent.

@@Fritz999 I am glad you aren‘t much affected by the smoke. I have never seen it as hazy as this summer here. We are fortunate to have a good central air filter. I know that Canada has huge areas that are barely populated that are affected by wild fires. Let‘s hope they will develop better way to manage them, especially with the tree lines encroaching further north in recent years.

@@loquidity4973 I don't see how the Canadian provinces can possibly be able to do anything within their means to to reduce or stop the fires. On thing they could do is to make it very clear, that to cause such fires is a very serious criminal offense which will be appropriately prosecuted. Not just by the proverbial slap on the wrist. Clearing the forests of the easily burnable detritus, such as might be done in Europe, is out of the question.

@@Fritz999 I have heard that First Nations in Canada and in North America in general could play a role in applying traditional practices of controlled burns. I am not sure if there are enough people in northern Canada to help out with that.
