What is the difference between 26 gage, 29 gage metal material?

it would be helpful if you give away some numbers, let say simple roof with asphalt shingles would cost 10k..how much more would be for same roof made with aluminium, copper, zinc, or steal roof ?!...Since there is so many different kinds of metals.
