Thanks for the video. I have taken the course twice and I agree that taking more than one Mapleseed course really does help with shooting skills and the retention of the info.

My 13yr old son and I have been waiting patiently for the past 2 years to attend a Mapleseed event in our area...still waiting. In the meantime, we are working on properly using our sling, but I could use your help on something. Could you advise of the dimensions of the targets for all four stages - so that my son and I can do some legitimate practicing? I would really appreciate if you'd be willing to share the bottom width, the height (as if it was a square), and the width of the top section. From there I could determine the angles.

What area are you in? We've run events all over the country except in Quebec.

@@Huntinggearguy Niagara. And my name is already added to the mailing list. But - because you answered with a "we", I assume you have access to the MQT targets. Can you confirm that the BOTTOM EDGE of: Stage 1 target is 7 3/4" wide, Stage 2 is 3 7/8" wide, Stage 3 is 2 1/2" and Stage 4 is 1 7/8"?

Just curious: there's a historical component in US Appleseeds. Is there something similar for the Canadian version? If so, what specific events?
@Huntinggearguy4 жыл бұрын
There is no historical component in Canadian Mapleseeds. Just marksmanship.

When you first started shooting gophers, did you start on a pellet gun? Or a .22LR

Hey Adriel, I joined the Maple Seed Event in Drumheller today, and I enjoyed it very much. Hope to see you around next time. (Also, I think you should promote the Maple Seed more on your channel. I think people would be interested.)

Sounds like a great course. What's the 2021 schedule like? Any courses in the Peace Country?
@Huntinggearguy3 жыл бұрын
None scheduled yet for this year, but we'll have some in the Edmonton area.

Mapleseed is definitely something I am looking to do here in ON. You're right, people should have basic marksmenship training. I think basic firearms training should be done every 3 years in schools starting basic in grade 3 and moving up to grade 12. Nate

I love this idea but I see only 2 events in Ontario for 2020 and both are sold out already.

I think they already had 4 this year in Ontario. We had a late start due to the 'rona.

@@Huntinggearguy So if not all the events are showing up on the web site,... I've not yet been able to get to one because none of the ones on the webs lined up with my time available. Is there a better way to find out when these events are being held? I haven't signed up to the email news because I don't really want more junk in my inbox, but I just did to increase my odds of deconflicting my schedule. Is there anything more specific to Alberta?

Great into video. One day my schedule will line up with a mapleleaf event.

I wouldn't say "right", not in the same way that Americans believe at any rate, but I vehemently believe that it should be an available option as an earned privilege. My thought is, in the same way we have volunteer fire fighters, especially in rural communities, we should also have volunteer peace officers, who, like firefighters, with adequate training, are expected to maintain their own equipment in their homes and respond to calls for assistance in their community. My mom is 15 minutes away from a police station, and if the 2 cars are engaged on the other side of town as they unfortunately often are due to the social dynamics of the area, it could be 35+ minutes for a response: it would be nice if 911 dispatch could with a key stroke page a few of her neighbours (who would be trained to respond) to come to her assistance if something was happening on her property. My cousins in Saskatchewan are 25 minutes from a police station, so it could be as much as an hour for assistance to arrive under the current regime. I don't think it's an inviolable right to carry a gun, but I do believe that those of us who prove competent should be allowed the privilege to equip ourselves in a manner to be of service to our community should the situation arise. This need is I think unfortunately made all the more evident after the goings on in NS.
