A subject complement is a word or phrase that follows a linking verb (called the copula) to connect the predicate to the subject. There are two types of subject complements: the predicate nominative which renames the subject and the predicate adjective which describes the subject.
In today’s lesson, you will learn about the different grammatical forms that make the subject complement.
Examples are given.

Hello: This lesson clarified so many things for me concerning predicate nominatives and adjectives. However I seem to recall hearing once that were types that involved concepts as opposed to people. Like in this sentence: " His religious beliefs are different from most." Is this considered a predicate adjective? If this sentence is not do you have an example of what I am referring to if this type of pred.adj. does exist?
@thelearningdepot

This is a predicate adjective. "Different from most" describes or modifies "religious beliefs."

In the example 'Many dogs wear collars', is collars the complement? and is many a modifier?
@thelearningdepot
@thelearningdepot Жыл бұрын
That is correct. Collars is the direct object and a verb complement and many is modifying dogs. 😊

It's a prepositional phrase modifying the subject, so it's a predicate adjective but since it also shows location, you could argue it's acting as an adverbial.
