This is the video about soap. It may or may not have clips of Fight Club...of which I don't own the rights. That would be Fox, but that's now owned by Disney...so Disney might own the rights. Who knows?

This will sound crazy because it is 'just soap', but switching to Aleppo soap has completely transformed shower time for me (and I'm already someone who loves long, luxurious hot showers lol). If you are someone who uses body wash from the grocery store/local chemist, I highly recommend giving Aleppo soap a try. The difference in clean and soft feeling skin is like night and day. And the laurel oil has a delicate, earthy sweet fragrance that is really irresistible. Regular body wash will start to smell very 'chemical' and artificial by comparison. Before long your whole shower stall will become perfumed with the laurel scent. It's really nice :)

I love Aleppo and Daphne soaps, and I also love Castile. I prefer the Middle Eastern soaps because the Daphne (laurel) helps to heal the skin. Another guilty pleasure is Mysore Sandal soap from India...the scent is intoxicating.

Thank you. I decided to splurge on this soap after seeing your review and don’t regret it at all. It is a wonderful soap. In Aleppo, we buy laurel soap in bulk (ten kilos), store it in our wardrobes for years. It gives a nice natural scent to clothes. The older it gets, the better, because it will dry more inside and last longer. It is also good to shine metal sinks or pots. Our grandmothers used to clean everything with it, from carpets to clothes. However, one needs to learn how to buy it. You should check the inside of it, the seller will give you a split one as a sample. Look at the colour of it, it should be normal green, not pale green (too little laurel) and not too green as it could be dyed to fake laurel. Smell it, you will recognise the scent of laurel, with experience you will know if they use less laurel than they should have. And finally scratch it, to see if it is well dried or not. It should be difficult to leave a mark of scratch. If the inside of the sample passes all these tests, you buy it. Or you can buy just one and try it LOL

My only issue with buying this from Amazon is Aleppo soap only has (for the most part) only two ingredients olive oil and laurel berry fruit oil (some have fragrance). I make this soap and laurel berry fruit oil is expensive. So how do you know if they used 60% laurel berry fruit oil or 10%? No matter what, it’s always going to be the second ingredient on the label. You may be paying for a soap that you think has a higher content of an excellent ingredient when it really doesn’t. Lol! I guess, I’m not that trusting.

I used tried a similar soap. This one, also from Turkey, had laurel oil, and olive oil base and was perfumes with oud and ambergris. I felt so clean after this and have only ever felt this clean after using African black soap which is an extremely alkaline soap. I wonder if that’s is what gives the super clean feeling. That is to say, the phi 12 of the soap makes it a strong soap so it gives a cleaner feeling. Ensure you moisturise to avoid drying our skin

I just found a recipe for Aleppo soap. The laurel berry oil is 30.00 a pound. The only other oil is high quality olive. No fragrance needs to be add because Laurel berry oil already smells so nice. You can hot or cold process this. The recipe calls for 50 / 50. Its a very expensive 2 lb loaf.

What does it smell like and how many ounces? I make soap but I've been debating making this soap. My current main recipe is doing quite well. It took me a lot of adjustments to get people's skin to feel amazing whether its summer or winter etc etc. I used to ask more people to buy now more people ask me so I have really been debating on whether its worth making this soap. My most important question is this: Not counting the clean feeling, can you feel it till the next day after using? That's the way I make mine. If you don't rub your forehead and say "D#mn", then I haven't done my job.
@GROVELAND
@GROVELAND 2 жыл бұрын
It smells “earthy”…not sure how to describe it. It’s unscented so whatever laurel oil and olive oils smells like together😆 The brand we get is 6.88oz bars. As far as the “feel”…I’m not sure how to compare beyond right after using it. I can tell a difference in the fresh/clean feel compared to other bar soaps but I have a physical job and sweat every day (so I shower everyday) and the more you sweat, the harder it is to tell the extended “feel” of any soap. Hope that makes sense… If you decide to make some, we would definitely give it a try and give you some honest feedback!!!

@@GROVELAND Actually, I wouldn't mind a comparison with what I already make. I might send you one. I can say this though as a comparison that many might be familiar with. I made some castille soap about a year ago. Its pretty creamy now and not slimy. It does give a clean feeling and gives SORT of smooth skin. However, I used it last night and I can feel my finger prints and my fingers feel slightly different. My normal recipe leaves much smoother skin and I dont feel anything rough with my skin. Smoothness is the main feeling till the next day - and night and maybe a bit softer. Plain olive oil soap is popular and many know how it feels so I used that as an example. While I do like it and I use it for reasons of my own it fails where touch sensitivity is more active like in the palm of your hands and fingers. Thats one of the things I try to avoid when making soap. If you can rub your hands together and you can feel your fingerprints then something is not quite right yet!
