Yall let me tell you something, please listen to your heart, express yourself. Attachment styles are because you don't love yourself. Loving yourself means facing your fears and sharing how you feel. Too many people r stuck in they own heads so they end up avoiding thats not how you want to live life

So you're judging us on high like always. People like you are all the same. Acting like you know it all and know us. Stop acting like you care because truth is you're full of shit.

DA here: I discovered attachment styles from a School Of Life video 4 years ago. I recognized my DA ness immediately. I then could name the source of my emotional discomfort as an adult. I now choose to work against my worst DA tendencies, and this has resulted in some healing.

Thank you for sharing your journey. It’s a great example of how healing is a marathon and not a race. It takes time but is rewarding to those who stick with it

I really appreciate these videos- this describes me to a tee. There have been points throughout my life where I’ve dared to make myself vulnerable, but each time I’m let down it reinforces that core wound. And then the next time, I’m even more sensitive to rejection. Only my strong desire to change has enabled me to keep persevering and putting myself out there in small ways. I don’t want the “right” person to come along and I fuck it up over a bullshit childhood I can’t change.

@@healingwithcharlie thank you!! It’s not easy- my knee jerk reaction is to close down completely to everyone. It takes a lot to ignore that initial reaction and work through it. Learning to discern that I shouldn’t shut EVERYONE out as a “punishment” for the few that do reject me is a slow process. Definitely a work in progress!!

Thank you for this video, there's so many about how to deal about a DA partner, but not so many about how to deal with relationship as a DA. This has been a struggle for me lately because I'm really trying to heal from but I have no clue on how to be more vulnerable and open to emotions without being too much and it feels like a constant battle with myself because I have no idea how to deal with all of those emotions

Very insightful information. Do you have a suggestion on the type of therapist that is best for attachment disorders? Thank you 🙏🏻

Most therapists are knowledgeable in attachment styles, however there are many that don’t see it as a valid framework. Bringing up this topic during the initial consultation call with a therapist can help you determine where they stand with it. Ideally you want one that’s going to provide insight and knowledge, rather than reject the topic if it comes up in conversation. Most therapists that specialize in relationship dynamics will be a good place to start

There are the steps I prefer to follow: 1) Name your emotions 2) Make identifying emotions a part of your every day routine 3) Track your emotions and thoughts throughout the day 4) Ask others for their feedback and support for any persistent feelings 5) Adapt healthy coping mechanisms to process your emotions 6) Try to pinpoint where you feel emotions in your body
