Best video so far in CBT. I practiced this “self therapy” through the toughest times of my life and to me the most important step was FOCUS ON WHAT YOU HAVE CONTROL IVER IT, and do something about it, loosing my mind over things I didn’t have control over it was just pushing me down and making me feel worst (really stupid if you look it up from outside, in my opinion). Everything sucks to a certain degree, people will never fully understand you, and you’re really irrelevant in this life just like everyone else. I know it sounds odd but that is the realest starting point, and it only gets better from there. You can be doing everything right and the closest people to you will tell you otherwise. Just try going with the flow, doing what feels right, and don’t beat yourself up when u get sad/mad/angry etc. It’s normal and it’s usually the best time for us to grow 🌱

The effective thing about CBT is that it starts with thoughts (then feelings, then behavior.) The positive effect of positive thought is powerful. @filippopaa19233 жыл бұрын
i would say no. It's mostly about reframing your thoughts in a more positive light and change your behavior to impose that. You basically yell at yourself "i'm better than what i think!" or "i can do this, my grades are good!" or "this is fine, even if i fail it won't be the end of the world", and then repeat them. it's really effective and doesn't matter the deep cause. "What we do and what we think influences how we feel". This can also be "what we do and what we feel can influence what we think" or "what we think and what we feel can influence what we do". So, does one focus on a specific aspect depending upon the person's circumstances and needs? It all appears very circular.
@shyadav082 ай бұрын
Yeah everything is connected.. I think the emphasis on thinking and action is because it is faster to change and more under conscious control.. When a person is stuck in very bad emotional patterns, rather than asking them to directly change what they are feeling, it would be easier for most people to change their thinking and actions rather than feelings.

Sit in the shower and close eyes for 5 mins 🚿 4. Listen to Native American Flute Music on KZbin 5. Light scented candles or aromatherapy oils in your room and use a humidifier 6. Pay for a massage; sit in a massage chair, or ask a friend or family member to give you regular massages (especially shoulder, back, neck and scalp). **If you are wealthier pay for regular deep tissue and lymphatic drainage massage specifically (2x monthly or 1x per week) o try acupuncture/acupressure/reflexology. 8. Get 20mins of sunshine daily (preferably between 9am and 11am) 9. Sleep by 930pm. Blackout your room. Charge phones in different room and set to airplane mode. Play calming ocean sounds, rain sounds or prayers while you fall asleep 😴. 10. Spend 15 mins morning and evening (and whenever else you need to) to pray on God's word or meditate. Think positive, healing thoughts. Visualize the best in your life. This is best done in nature, in a cool, breezy spot, where you can hear birds 🐦 or natural sounds and perhaps have a view of some sort. Find your "spot" near where you live or in your home. Find two spots, in case one is occupied or weather does not permit. HTH. Best wishes to you ❤

As someone who loves the study of pharmacology, I am all too aware that there are only one family of medicines which are extremely effective in relieving all your symptoms of anxiety within the first 30 mins of the first dose, (the Benzodiazepines) but of course, they are unfeasible due to the development of tolerance and addiction. Shame because they even have a safety profile which is attractive. They replaced the Barbiturates in 1950s, which were equally as effective, but which did have a narrow therapeutic index. The minimum effective dose was close to the minimum lethal dose.

So I’ll take like being optimistic & or fixing the bad thought with something good?
@marciaallen2682 Жыл бұрын
CBT - something that we can use to change a negative cycle. It can work & is a process of challenging your thought - Is the thought real? What evidence do you have the thought is real? Can we change the negative thought to a helpful thinking style? - example: Believing others don't like us can make someone feel upset & hurt, and our behavior is to get upset, angry or to lash out.... But what if our thought was not based on a FACT! If it's just based on a feeling (feelings aren't fact - feelings don't last - feelings change) Instead of believing something negative, trying to change the thought by CHALLENGING that thought (not every negative thought is real or false- hence we challenge it) Once we challenge a negative thought & discover if it's real, - if not real, we can put in the process of trying to change how we react. (we can only control our own actions & reactions- We cannot control how others act or react) Negative thoughts are often automatic & this takes practices, but it does work. We can also change how we act & react to real situations, how we think & address these by using CBT

Honestly, CBT is not the best option for people with a lot of trauma. CBT is loved by insurance companies. That should tell you something. CBT is insurance-covered professional invalidation for a lot of deeply complex systemic issues people face in my experience. Mental health is similar to physical health, but constant "you're not thinking clearly" etc feels flat out downplaying for those with nuanced issues that you can't just talk out of. Patient blaming only stigmatizes therapy and mental health even more in my opinion.

You know what we can do. We can take time. We can take moment and then apologise ourself. We can take a moment and apologise for something wrong we did in past to others. We can take accountability for a past and do that. These things doesnt go away, doesnt lift for most of the people. It something they still have to wrestle. It doesn't go away. But there is always a capacity to feel again. There is always a capacity to feel joy. The cure to so many thing is connection. We may think that noone wants to connect with me. But we just need to find the right people.

I have OCD as well. Are you saying that CBT didn't work for you?
@cirwin88123 жыл бұрын
Didn't work for me. I did it for two years. Have too much trauma from my childhood and young adulthood. Meds really don't help either.

If you actually understood CBT you'd be saying something more like "I haven't found anything that helps as of yet" but you wouldn't be saying "meds don't help" - in other words you wasted two years by not listening on day one.

Thank you for your comment. The NAMI National Warmline Directory is a great resource, unlike a hotline for those in immediate crisis, warmlines provide early intervention with emotional support that can prevent a crisis - and a more costly 911 call or ER visit. The lines are typically free, confidential peer-support services staffed by volunteers or paid employees who have experienced mental health conditions themselves. For a list of where to find this service in your area please check out the link here -> www.nami.org/NAMI/media/NAMI-Media/BlogImageArchive/2020/NAMI-National-HelpLine-WarmLine-Directory-3-11-20.pdf

Think the same, rationalisation seems forcing myself to think in a particular way which actually does not change the feeling (depression, sadness, lack of motivation anxiety) and in a way creates resistance and hence a battle begins. Thinking if psychotherapy is a good option. Gestalt techniques also didn't work for me.

@miguelgc59563 жыл бұрын
@@devinwatkins8953 yeah you’re right in that sense & honestly I wasn’t trying to discredit the method entirely. It’s just that people like to believe that the answers to their questions are somewhere out there but in reality it’s within. The more adversity/uncomfortable situations the better, as long as you’re looking for your flaws in order to work on them consistently. This is what builds mental strength & confidence overtime. It’s a less talk more do kinda of formula

Hmm, i think i know EXACTLY why Im depressed, i gained weight! lol thats most of it and why i havjt wsnted to go out of the house in 10 yrs,. On top of it i got asthma, i became stage 1 obese and i never was that before ( currently working on it and lost 20 pounds so far), but back in the day when i was a teen i had a normal weightbut i was bullied alot, and i always skipped school. I remember crying to my mom saying i didnt want to go. Actually tbh i was bullied pretty much grade 2 onwards, i had thick lenses, hearing aids at one point cuz we found out i couodnt hear well but 8 wasnt about to wear them and be made more fun of☹️, and i had braces, soo i suppose i have suffered from depression all my life, but i dont think it was always there. Also im pretty sure i suffer from social anxiety, but im not sure when that started, i want to say atleast in the past 10 or 15 yrs? see, i think it has to do with the fact im alot more self aware now than i used to be especially in regards to my weight, i am so much more self aware now and so it gave me anxiety, atleast it made it 10 times more worst. Anyways good to know this will work for other illnesses too and not just depression.
