What is Consciousness? || Nonduality and Enlightenment Simplified

Eric Putkonen talks about Consciousness. Consciousness should not be confused with conscious awareness of the body...and so one can be conscious in normal life, but when asleep or under anesthesia one becomes unconscious. Consciousness includes all forms of consciousness: wakening consciousness, the subconscious, superconsciousness, etc. Consciousness is one...there is no other...no second. Consciousness has no circumference or center. Consciousness does not arise from the brain.

Reading your last response to me, in relation to correspondence we had on a previous video of yours, I thought you had been smoking the sweet leaf ! Having now found this video, I see what you were saying - this is a great explanation of consciousness. Of course in our previous correspondence, in no way was I suggesting consciousness is specifically 'yours' or 'mine' - consciousness is just consciousness, it is not mine or yours. However, as great I genuinely think this here video is, I still stand by what I previously said, which was - consciousness in itself is effectively redundant without a functional brain. After all, the brain/mind and consciousness are all one thing. Would there be consciousness without a brain/a mind ? Doesn't consciousness come along with the brain ? Because consciousness doesn't reside within any of the other organs, we know that. You are suggesting in this here video that, after death consciousness still continues, "consciousness is everything". And while I totally see what you are saying, ultimately to make that statement is simply a belief, is it not ? ..... If every single human in the world suddenly dropped down dead, I mean every human, who would there be to say whether consciousness still continues or not ? All the trees, the animals and insects, which are all consciousness, may well continue living - or in other words, the world itself may well continue to exist. But my point is, without the human brain, the conscious human brain, which resides within this flesh and bone we call a human body, without the brain, consciousness itself does not exist, surely ? The only reason we know the world exists in the first place, is for the fact that a human brain was present to perceive the world. Respectfully I ask, put 'Non-duality' and 'Advaita Vedanta' aside, and then surely from a biological point of view, all what I have just written makes sense, right ? Hence why I made the statement I am my brain, or, I am my mind. I am aware any of your viewers could potentially read this. Whether you believe me or not, I don't write this or any of my previous comments to ridicule you, or expose you as being wrong. In fact, of all the so called 'spiritual' channels on KZbin, I actually think yours is one of the most relatable. Although it seems I am suggesting I am right and you are wrong, forget me personally ! - I am not important. It just so happens that I am saying this stuff. But if it wasn't me, it might be someone else. All the best to you.

Consciousness is not bound to the brain of the human body any more than Consciousness is bound to the dream-brain of a dream-body within a dream.

@@NondualityChannel I'm no scientist, in fact I have very little 'science' knowledge, but what you are saying surely cannot be true biologically. Consciousness comes as a result of the brain being present ... no ? Anyway look, it's starting to sound like I'm trying to convince you of something you don't believe - I'm not. So I'll end it there. Thank you for the clarity. Our dreams seem to be absurd and all over the place. We fly and next moment we run, our characters change quickly, there doesn’t seem to be much cause and effect. But this world seems to be logical and follows some basic laws. So how is this world also a dream?

Also is the conciousness which isnt tied to conscious awareness due to brain/body ( so just consciousness by itself ) able to kind of "think" by itself? Like can it say "I will create the Earth etc and manifest myself into it" Because another thing I don't understand is what created the earth, if consciousness can't be awareness without a thinking mind?

Nonduality & Enlightenment Simplified It is a mistake to believe that thought/deliberation is needed in order to act. It is possible to act spontaneously without prior thinking about it and say something like "I will do this, that, and the other thing."

Isn’t the brain also a part of the dream? And if so.. how can it receive anything? Also, I’ve heard that super consciousness is what determines the contents of the dream - apparent physical laws etc., is that right? I struggle with the idea of “determination”. It seems like everything must just be, what it’s going to be, forever, already. (Whatever the heck it is, I don’t know)

I don't talk about determination, but free will/choice. It is not a movie script, but ad-lib and improv. "Super consciousness" is just another illusory distinction or level. There is just Consciousness...which includes subconscious, super conscious, and any other subset. The dream itself is not other than Consciousness. The dream-brain of a dream-body would be a part of the dream. Receive what?

@@alundberg Look at that which is separate (the "me") and observe, investigate, and question. See the false as false. Said another way, see that whatever you are identified with is wrong and you are not that. This is not a mental exercise...keep it as kinesthetic, experiential, and visceral as possible. I like the shorter videos, but this one is gold. Thank you. Do you think that conscious awareness survive after death? That would explain why everybody is born with a survivor extinct, like fear of snakes. And Consciousness may be a big brain beyond our little mind could explain, how fungus, plants, unicelular beings without brains act like they have a sharp intelligence.

Conscious awareness is only of the body/brain. It does not continue when the body ceases functioning. Scientific research has shown there are only 2 fears the human body is born with - falling and loud noises. There is no fear of snakes...that is learned later in life.

@@luismoref I agree, falling and loud noises may be more a reaction than actual fear. Perhaps falling is just a feeling we initially dislike at first (instead of fear). Newborns are pretty much fearless...there is no fear of the unknown...and everything is unknown to a newborn.

Consciousness in spanish is Conciencia. Con-ciencia means With-science, so I am not Consciousness because I could see a Collective Mental Field, I was told, that is Consciousness, if I could see it, it means that I am not Consciousness. I am beyond Consciousness. Consciousness is everything in the dream, in the movie-illusion. I can only be aware that I am not the body, nor the thoughts, neither the story that is developing, and I am not the world.

I see, nothing is really important from super conciousness perspective, especially concious awareness, my body-mind (aka me) need to look at that way. It is not important does my body-mind receiver dies, I need to not care about that since everything goes by, but Brahman is eternal 🙄😁.
