Positive social relationships are the result of adaptation and compromise. I’ve been doing this for years - tapping into the person’s word choices/speech style, their facial expressions and what subjects they prefer to speak about (when being spontaneous), then “mirroring back” with similar language, asking about favorite topics, projecting an emotional tone that elicits the desired bodily expressions......playing chameleon to keep harmony (which, in work settings, often increases productivity). Now I have a “scientific approach”, which fills in the gap when the “how to” doesn’t come to me intuitively. Great video! (Said with *feeeeeling*! Oh no!)

Interesting. I just thought of a theory that explains why people who go through trauma as a young person sometimes emerge with amazing wisdom. Their trauma forced them to become well-acquainted with their subconscious and unconscious. They "matured" faster, so to speak, and found themselves with a better grasp of more of their cognitive functions. The danger, however, is if their trauma triggers their demon function and they stay too long in their superego. If this becomes a habit, these are the broken people you find in your life. Negative, controlling, attacking. They're trying to hit the reset button on the world. This would fit better on the parts of the mind video, but just brain dumping as I had the thought.
@ChrispyNut5 жыл бұрын
It's only really "dangerous" because of how our (western at least) treat those who are most struggling. If we had proper "safety nets" , those who end up having to resort to their superego (utopia's are impossible, because there will always be some who hate "the way things are") still have a foothold in "society" to build their life back up with, but with the experience of using their superego. I was literally just saying a few hours ago how cool it would be if I could access my ISFP superego easily and safely, when talking about how creative my neighbour is (powerpoint vs excel conversation). Far too many who resort to their SuperEgo to "fix" their lives end up soo far outside society, it doesn't really matter how "valuable" that person is (from integration), they're trapped.

This season has some of the most important videos on Jungian Analytical Psychology out there. "Emulation" has always come naturally to me, as I'm a mimic(Crusader Quadra), but in the last few years, I have mostly stopped doing it, because I felt guilt(Fe inferior) from deceiving people, and because the emulation took a mental toll. I realize now, that I've been stubbornly staying in my ego, like some kind of ego recluse, in situations that called for emulation, under the pretense that I'm doing people a favor by being honest which can sometimes result in a covert contract, of which I am aware, hence more of that sweet Fe inferior guilt.
@alexanderkelley29514 жыл бұрын
I think the fact that you decide to emulate a function because you want to maintain a relationship for the sake of having that relationship shows a certain amount of sincerity. Emulation truly does seem like something that is useful, especially if your personality isn't compatible with parts of your family, it helps you to mend the gap, even if only a little. And, of course, it will take practice, everything takes practice, so be patient and I am certain the skill will come to you!

Thank you very much for this lesson!! I truly am learning SO much that extends beyond just what my type is now. And it is purely fascinating, of course. I actually started using a lot of these (and other) tactics at my work and I am able to see the results first hand. Naturally, as an Fi hero, I feel morally obligated to always try to go for what is the very best outcome for us all, if that makes sense? I do believe a person needs to keep a responsible attitude in regards to any form of social engineering they might employ. But when everything "lines up" and I can do good things for my coworkers, nothing brings me more joy:) I suppose that's what being an idealist is all about at times. And when I do bump into a problem (or see a potential problem) along the way, I am able to more easily influence how things will occur, of course-lol. I think you are correct and that the ends do justify the means, however, is it fair or even just intelligent to state that this is precisely why a philosopher should keep their ideas for others morally in check at all times? I would never want to influence a person into something morally wrong and not understand I even did it. I also currently am working on overcoming my absolute fear of what others will think about me if I let my true thoughts be known, so I am trying to have the brand new experience of typing out my questions for all to see-LOL:) And I would really appreciate knowing if my line of thinking is correct here? Thank you again for all of this information on what I do believe is the core of the human experience. It has the ability to benefit us all in ways I'm positive we don't even know yet;)

I like how you describe INTJ and INFP as having this triple speed reasoning process. I find that if I can gain some proficiency in emulating either Fe or Si, I can put a break on that and reconstitute a decision making process in the midst of it and put Ti to work on verifying its prospective validity. Too much speed can be adverse to the intent. So if I learn to control and have awareness over its processes, it may result in greater stability.

The only effective way to challenge the judgement of a Ti dominant, is through notifying them of any logical flaw in their actions(ISTP) or in their calculations and theories(INTP). If they are in their element, mistakes are rare and are impossible to find for other types. Also I don't see ISTP's and ENTP's working in a well defined or highly structured environment for long.

@ChrispyNut5 жыл бұрын
No, Chase is also right that Ti dom is stopped by hurt feelings, it's what we so easily miss in our logical calculations because it's so much harder to perceive, therefore quantify and reduce the Margin of Error to a point of sufficient certainty. Yes, providing information we hadn't previously been aware of, or with a perspective we'd insufficient considered will also be effective, but it's not the only effective way. -Probable INTP (currently in drug induced ENTJ mode).

I think it depends on how mature the person you're emulating before too. My ISTP ex was still very insecure about his Fe so if I told him I was hurting and he felt that it was his fault he would just rage and act like he didn't care how mean he was. The most successful people are either master's at faking it or keep master's around them. That's a fact, look around ppl.

Are you sure we can even determine with confidence where that line between manipulating for selfish gain and manipulating for the greater good is? That sounds like an Fi thing, and my Fi hero doesn't like it one bit. Also it sounds like you disagree with JBP's rule of always telling the truth. Is that the case?
@CSJoseph5 жыл бұрын
I agree with JBP on that point.

@@CSJoseph So you see the lies you mentioned in this video as exceptions to that rule then?

Yes if you see someone you don't like just camouflage yourself and squeeze into the nearest hole so they don't find you while squirting ink at them if they get too close

That is your SI inferior. You've developed your ISFJ Subconscious, and ISFJ is all about duty, justice, loyalty, doing the right thing, etc. It's a good thing

@@CSJoseph Your statement is pretty much on point and therefore a little harsh/blunt. Since openmindedness and logic is not the public's strong suit, you might earn a lot of criticism with growing a bigger viewer base. One of Jordan Peterson's biggest struggles for instance is / where he has to put a huge amount of energy is presenting his opinion in way it is not too prone to criticism and wrong accusations. Having seen many more hours of your content now maybe you acutally won't care.

I don't agree you're being insincere while doing emulation. If your intentions are insincere - they stay insincere with or without emulation. If you foresee that things may go wrong and overcome yourself in order to use the best way to make the other person think twice (figure out person's type and emulate needed function) that's actually very nice of ya'll =)

I disagree that men and women are the same if they have the same functions. It's another dimension, another factor to consider.

So all an INTP has to do to make living with an ISFJ a little easier is pretend I know what I want, and then to pretend that getting it will make me feel good.

This ISTP would tell you that your feelings don't matter, they're temporary & they change! And then I'd tell you to stop lying & manipulating, say what you mean & mean what you say, damn it! Who has the patience to play these exhausting 'feel better' games anyway? You sprinkle all the 'emulation & pretend' on it that you like, but, it is still lying! People are so exhausting. UUUGHGHGH!
