the UFO field is absolutely packed to the gills with obvious charlatans who shouldn't be given the time of day. Richard Dolan appears, to me, to be one of the few authentic and genuine people in this field. Either that or he's an incredibly hard to detect charlatan. Either way he's impressive. And I don't want to forget Curt. Intellectual credo aside, Curt is a highly skilled interviewer. He knows when to talk and when not to. He can stay on point but he knows when a tangent is worth exploring. He is genuinely intellectually curious, in a non-tokenistic way, in a way very few people are. I truly believe Curt is ready to have his mind changed by a good argument, regardless of cultural stigmas. Above all, when the interviewee is receptive, he gets them to reveal themselves in ways you don't see on other podcasts/channels. Also, I think it's incredibly difficult as a human being to keep your ego in check when you have a decent sized following and he manages to do so flawlessly. I would love to have a conversation with this man.

13:00 This time last year I had a very atheist materialists physical view of reality. I assumed the intricacies of the brain were what gave birth to consciousness. I definitely did not think NHI on earth was even a possibility. I didn’t believe in a “soul”. I would not entertain any spiritual “nonsense” or anything about remote viewing or mediums or hypnosis or anything paranormal I was the first to try and dismiss it. A year later and I now have an extremely similar belief to what Richard explains here. The answers that I deemed most logical were out there, I just had to take the time to look. I think Some sort of base level fabric Consciousness field where EVERYTHING is consciousness. That would be where our reality is originated from, that energy. Idk why it makes so much sense to me. I don’t have faith in really anything but for some reason I do regarding this theory about consciousness. So many different rabbit hole lead me to the same thing, we have a lot to learn and consciousness is key.

It’s funny the way he described God and consciousness. I do ketamine therapy sometimes, and I’ve felt the realm he speaks of…I’ve often chalked it up to whatever mode the therapy puts my brain in, but I’d like to believe I’ve experienced something like this. I can’t describe it in words to anyone, but it’s a state where I no longer can even recognize or feel a physical body…a feeling that there is only connection to everything as if we are energy like a body of water. I hear that often from anyone who has done psychedelic therapy. Perhaps it’s only our brains, perhaps we sense a realm that exists. So much we truly don’t understand about life and our condition.

It is curious to see how some comments show discomfort when it comes to reports of a religious tradition. Spirituality is not necessarily religiosity. There are those who are very religious and not so spiritual and there are those who are not from any religious tradition and practice healthy spirituality very well. You do not need to accept an entire doctrinal theological package because of mentions of Christ's ethical teachings. You can see it with Gautama's teachings, with Plato's ideas, and even by reading works like the Dao De Jing. A healthy spirituality always for an ethics that aims at harmony. It's not because X or Y said it was just that, but if you try to compare all these teachings, you will realize that the core of the message points to the same idea. You do not need to conceive of a 'personal God'. God is a much broader metaphysical concept. But if this term bothers you, don't use it, Buddhists and Jainas don't use it either and they are still spiritual traditions. Spirituality is understanding that instead of wanting to live just to fulfill our egoic desires no matter what the cost, without caring about what kind of consequences this may cause to other beings, that life and existence are much bigger than our little world guys. Spirituality is about seeking to achieve peace and unity by bringing peace and unity to everyone, everywhere. Spirituality is understanding why a life that is not only directed towards oneself, but also towards others, is much more fruitful. But as much as it may be a very abstract metaphysical concept, perhaps if all humanity could achieve this state of complete union, perhaps an understanding of why 'God' is love could be possible. "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knowseth God. the man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us. If a man says, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God loves his brother too."

I would just like to suggest, in terms of spirits, 'spiritual' energy, the power of consciousness, 'Magick', the paranormal, and the hypothesis of what God (divinity) may or may not be. I highly recommend trying to get an interview with: 'Josephine Mccarthy' (adept magician and author of Quareia) Personally, I believe it might help fill some gaps. Her interviews are among the best that I know of, within the 'occult' communities. And I believe you would have the ability to probe far deeper than former interviews has. (Take a look) Time is also a bit of the essence, as I don't really know how much longer she'll be able to do interviews.

NIce, but I don't think consciousness is "computation" like penrose said, I would research qualia. Can silocon be self conscious, can it adjust something so that it looks better? Does it worry about if one scientist likes it better than another scientist? Does it seek attention from one person more than another, choosing a favourite? I doubt it.

I believe that anonymity has shielded people from direct reputational consequences. Centuries ago in the village, the "sins" you committed would be very tough to conceal as people were likely better at reading facial expressions and letting someone's "sin" go should you witness it would have quickly reflected on you as well. He is basically saying you cannot rely on your inner goodness and capacity for compassion, which derives from a very human trait: empathy. As an atheist, I must say that is nonsense. Humanism can give wonderful guidelines for peace, and a solid ground. Besides, he is promoting christianity not clarifying why it should take precedence over any other faith. He probably knows he could not give a believable explanation: it is culture-related and partial, like any other religion.
@ximono
@ximono Ай бұрын
Just like Humanism then ;) Which, by the way is not so universal as many think, but very much a product of the West. I don't think he says we cannot rely on our capacity for compassion. If anything, I think the teachings of Jesus is to do just that. I'm neither religious nor atheistic (allergic to religion), and Dolan seems to be the same. He didn't seem to me to be promoting Christianity as a religion, but its ethical framework as a foundation, for individuals and socities. Not unlike Humanism, in other words.
@carlosaradas5926
@carlosaradas5926 Ай бұрын
@@ximono Oh, so now it turns out that only people living in Western countries have the capacity to empathise and feel "humanistic". Fancy that... It must be the influence of Christianity, then, giving us that wonderful framework (by which so many heretics were burnt) don't you think? Just as well you are not secretly religious, and probably not ethnocentric either. I am not allergic, I just haven't let myself be intellectually hindered by religion ever since I was 15 and started questioning the philosophical foundations of the Bible and the teachings of priests at my Catholic school. We freethinkers are like that: we go beyond the limits of our culture.
@ximono
@ximono Ай бұрын
@@carlosaradas5926 You misunderstood me, I said it as criticism of Humanism. I'm also critical of religions and consider myself something of a freethinker. It's good that you haven't let yourself be hindered by religions, I hope you won't let atheism hinder you as well. (The heretics that were burnt and wars that were fought in the name of Christianity were in the name of religion, under the power of the church, it has very little to do with the teachings of Jesus, for example.)
@carlosaradas5926
@carlosaradas5926 Ай бұрын
@@ximono I'm sorry, but whatever religion based on divine revelation and a sacred book inevitably breeds dogmatism, fundamentalism and horror. It is not the Church's fault: the idea of revelation is flawed from its inception, at its very root. If I remember rightly, it was Jesus who said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". Well, that constitutes monolithic dogma and an appropriation of the truth (no other prophet, no other filosophy, no other ethnicity deserves it). Now, follow the first commandment and put the idea of God before and above anything else, throw in for good measure the ideas of the existence of Evil and the Devil and you will understand how it just follows naturally that anything perceived to be on the side of Evil (because it offends God or is against the only "true way") must be eliminated and cast to hell. It is not the Church per se, it is the set of beliefs that gave rise to it. These beliefs certainly contain messages that are positive and healthy, but on the whole do not constitute an internally coherent set of ethic rules or view of the cosmos.
@ximono
@ximono Ай бұрын
@@carlosaradas5926 I actually very much agree with you there, I too have serious issues with Christianity. I think where we differ is in my openness to learn from religions, whereas you seem more inclined to disregard them wholesale (well, you did say "These beliefs certainly contain messages that are positive and healthy"). The Bible is open to intepretation. One must keep in mind that it was written and rewritten (and mistranslated and corrupted) by multiple authors over centuries. Still, I think Christianity has _at its core_ some values that I'm perfectly fine accepting as an ethical framework for our society (which happens to be Christian, culturally speaking). If you strip away all the dogma and authority and bullshit, you basically end up with Quakers. Their very undogmatic take on Christianity is often summed up as Peace, Equality, Integrity, Simplicity, Sustainability. I'm no Quaker myself, I'm only a Christian "by association" (culture), but when I read that, it occurred to me that I already live by those values. And I think they're good values to live by. I think the Quakers, by turning their back on the church and refusing to bow to authority or take the bible literally, have arrived at the essence of Christianity. Which IMO is a perfectly fine ethical framework. While I'm as skeptical of religion as yourself, I'm not willing to throw Quakers out with the bathwater. We need those, and those like them.

Omniscience spoils game play. A game that isn't fun for God too would never have gotten created in the first place, or would have been destroyed and recycled. Same goes for omnipotence. The creators of religions of power and control were hardly cast in a Godly mold, but already had narcissistic seeds of corruption that grew into sociopathy, psychopathy, and megalomania. While individuals may learn some from the tutelage of others, real spiritual advancement can only come from finding the best version of you through self-exploration and integration of many perspectives of incarnation. The problem isn’t the foundation, the foundation is you, the outside is the learning environment and you become what you give in to. When you lie to yourself enough, you don’t even remember the lie and it becomes you. You become the liar without realizing and now the victim mentality can emerge and demand things because you’ve been taken from. Honestly that’s why an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. You forget how to be nice and live because you feel that negativity. God isn’t one thing so we don’t worship one thing because that’s a false idol. There is no one god, god is like a superposition and it’s all able to be shared even when far apart because the pieces share.

It's a lie if you take it literally. I prefer to see it as a story, and stories are not to be taken literally. They _are_ technically speaking lies, but they _can_ contain wisdom and deep truths. Like he mentioned, storytelling is how wisdom was passed on through generations before the written word. The word "myth" has become synonymous with "lie" (a silly one for gullible people). And yes, it _has_ been used by the nefarious to gain control over people, especially in religion. But many fail to see the wisdom and truths contained within them. I get the concept of love thy enemy its an teaching of christ, but if u could talk to jesus id ask him " if everyone did love thine enemy , the world would just be populated by enemies and slaughtered people who expressed that view , so how does it benefit society when that concept essentially selectiveley breeds progressive evil by natural selection ? " j agree with jesus, but thats why the knights templar were formed , good has to have teeth live evil does, to deal with thugs you need knights to enforce good while practicing mercy and break the infectious nature of the seduction of evil.

But the smart enemies realized that those who loved them could be trusted and were spared for servitude. And as every good boss knows, those in servitude are an asset to be protected. Even the Egyptian pharoahs allowed slaves to have families, enjoy a day off and have enough to eat to keep them fit to serve. Loving your enemy was a damn good survival technique, whereas those who let their hate consume them fought to the bitter end and wound up with their heads on a spike.

Curt, I enjoy your channel and the diverse guests you feature. Nevertheless, I found this specific interview disappointing. It missed challenging questions regarding his claims & involvement in various UFO scams, and I'm surprised you didn't ask about his wife's psychic mind reading business. Are you now part of the ufology gravy-train? Is it all about the views 💰

You're fool. Myth itself is a powerful tool. It's an efficient way to coordinate the development of whole civilizations. Every country has its own foundation myth. Most top companies do as well. It's not a coincidence that the western culture is declining.

A myth is like a poem that points to things that can't be measured, held or seen. Inner states like love and forgiveness. Myths are important like symbols and art.
