You know, ISO is often the thing that gets left out of the exposure triangle. We're constantly talking about shutter speed and aperture but I've seen a lot of photographers really rely on those higher ISO settings to get their shots. That said, from my experience, I wouldn't go higher than 6400 on the cameras I've used, unless shooting Astrophotography. But, this is a really important subject that people need to know if they're starting out or if they're moving from traditional film to digital (of course, that is less likely now but does still happen).

If you're a beginner, you're not going to want to spend too much on a camera just to dip your toe in the water. The body is actually not as important as the lenses that you get with it. I got a Nikon D7500 recently because it has the same image quality as the semi-pro model, the D500. My dad uses this and it's amazing. Not the top of the pile but very good. That's a sub-£1000 camera body. I've also got an 18-300mm lens which I do virtually everything with. Having that zoom range means that I can be very flexible about where and what I'm shooting. As a rule, though, I would expect a newer photographer to start out with just the kit lens, to keep costs down. So, let's assume you want to take this seriously and you have around £1000 (or equivalent) to spend on a new body/lens combination. I did a little hunting around and I found the Canon EOS M50. It's currently going for ~£600 and comes with a 15-45mm lens. That's going to be good for street photography and some of the wide-angle shots you want with landscapes. It's not quite there for portraiture but you could still get some good results. If you then want to expand that, for ~£300 (so, still inside the £1000 budget) you could also pick up a Canon EF-M 55-200mm Lens. That would give you a lot of flexibility over what you can shoot and how you frame it. Now, none of these lenses are super-fast or anything (starting at 3.5) but you could do an awful lot with this kit before you need to start worrying about faster, better glass. You're also getting a camera that a lot of people like, that has some great Dual Pixel CMOS autofocusing an excellent viewfinder with very good image quality. The real downside is the batteries, so perhaps grab some extras. There's a reason a lot of vloggers use this as their vlogging camera too, so you also have 4K video to play around with if you wanted to.
