There are many comments from Black South Africans stating that Czech looks Nigerian, which caused the passport issue. Can a Black South African please clarify what exactly does a Black South African look like? Are there not various South African tribes, each with distinctive features and appearances? Are Black South Africans saying that no Black South African has the same appearance as a Black American, Ghanian, Nigerian, Senegalese or any other African country? For Black South Africans to claim that a South African cannot look like a Nigerian sounds insulting and as though Black South African's are attempting disassociate themselves from Nigerians and other Black Africans and Black Americans. I am Black American and was not aware that Black South Africans had one distictive appearance, if that is such the case.

I think you are reading too much into this. Granted I agree with what you seem to be saying that there is crossover between black people in different countries. Meaning, you can't always tell a black person's nationality & ethnic group by looking at them. Yet, at the collective levels there are noticeable differences among black people of different backgrounds. I am of the opinion that although you can find individual African Americans who may look Nigerian. I do not generally think that African Americans are identical to Nigerians in physical appearance. When Czech was recently in one of the major urban areas of Nigeria. 90% of the people he showed did not look African American to me. If I saw most of them on the streets in the U.S. I would know right away that they are African, most likely from the western region. I think this is because African Americans have a specific ethnic DNA makeup only found in the U.S. and not any country in Africa. Africans have more of a distinctive appearance tied to their specific ethnic groups. Just like how African Americans are often able to distinguish Africans they encounter at random, by appearance alone. South Africans blacks can also distinguish non South African blacks from other countries. There is a difference in physical appearance, height, body builds etc.. West African/ descendant men are thought to be taller & more muscular than black South African men quite often. So that is another way that a non South African black can stand out. It is also important to note that in the Nigerian context, everyone does not look the same. There is physical differences between the different ethnic groups in Nigeria. It is understood that there is often an easily noticeable physical difference between Yorubas, Igbos and Hausa/Fulanis. Which begs the question: What does a Nigerian look like? I think people in South Africa are mostly exposed to Igbos. As they make up the majority of Nigerians there.

When you said the Park Station area was like Brixton in London I started fearing for you because that area is dangerous. The idea that you were feeling comfortable was disconcerting. I'm hoping the encounter with the ‘cops’ disabused you of any notions of letting your guard down. That area is rundown and full of criminality and that's why the undercover cops are there. It's by chance that you still had your camera when you left. Please make sure you visit the nice places too to give a truer picture of Jo’burg. It is a modern and world class city. And, please don't do the accent.

Please ditch that guy, Im born and bread in SA 44years ago. where this guy took you to experience SA was just a no go zone especially in JHB most of us don't go there ourselves. 1. The people that stopped you were not the police. Thank God you were not robbed or harmed. 2. Never buy a sim card from the streets, we have reputable vendors MTN, Vodacom etc. They have shops with their branding. 3. Avoid densely populated areas, rememeber 1 person can distract you, seek your attention while his accomplices are taking your valuables without even you noticing. I'm upset about what that ignorant fame seeking so called fan almost got you into. He was more worried about his phone than your safety, yet he brought you there. I got very upset when you said you were thinking of running or walking fast and I was sitting in my lounge asking myself but where were you going to run too. Please accept our sincere apologies.

Close down refugee camps that hold Africans hostage in Kenya before you say anything about SA which has never had refugee camps. Zimbabwean refugees stayed in Kenya for over 60 years before they were given citizenship. Kenyan law didn't allow refugees to work until recently. Not so long ago your president threatened he will shut down a refugee camp , load desperate refugees in trucks and go dump them at the border and these are refugees fleeing war. Please fix your own country before criticizing a country which has by far the best reception for immigrants both legal and illegal across Africa.
