as I got better at this game I started calling it a strategy game, more like RTS than turn based. I have chat turned off and I think of my teammates as AI, which I can sometimes control with pings. I don't tilt because of this and just perform better, focus on my own gameplay and decisions, this approach got me to master for the 1st time.

@coolcat30 this is such a good way to play! Taking the focus off of your teammates mistakes allow you to focus on your own decision making. Grats on masters!!

That was so simple to understand and quick to explain. Only thing weird to me was Valorants example becauae i dont play it but also i dont grasp the concept of a turn in a shooter like that. I played cs and without the minions like in league i dont see a "turn" there. The league part itself was wonderfully explained. 👍🏻

I like how you use valorant as an example. Cuz one of the players that won valorant champions is a ex LoL pro. His name is sacy. He brought moba concepts to his teams in Valorant and everybody started calling him "moba" ou "mobinha"
@coachboc
@coachboc 2 күн бұрын
Ooo, what moba concepts did he bring? There are a couple I can think of off the top of my head like positioning, holding space, vision control. But if there is any content/info about him I'd love to know more!

I really like the high quality production but iI think it's bad/pointless to talk about "turns" like this. The idea of a turn-based games (when it comes to the analogy) is that you can do something with complete freedomand then the enemy are allowed to do something with complete freedom themselves. In this video you don't explain why the opponent cannot retaliate during your play (it's kind of obvious but I think explaining it is good because it's a begginer targeted video). Also you never cover the concept of how they get to do something after your play (or in the middle of it). Again, these things are kind of obvious but explaining them doesn't take much time and would be very useful for many players imo. If you feel like I was vague or my arguments weren't good let me know because I really enjoy the idea of your content and hope for you to do great my friend. Keep up the good work
@coachboc
@coachboc 3 күн бұрын
These are all very good points! This was a very "101/beginner" video on the topic, and I think you are completely correct that the enemy CAN do whatever they want in the middle or end of your play. If you check out 1:52 in the video I mention how the opponent has 2 options: 1. Take their turns instantly, but lose the minions (losing gold) 2. Clear the wave and then take their own turn (losing time) Either way the Ahri in my example comes out "ahead" because in theory they do not lose anything. Obviously this would change depending on events happening in the game; not all turns are created equal. But as an analogy I think it helps to give players the tools to think about WHAT they are doing with their turns and WHY they are doing it. Because I then relate the usage of turns to the outcome of the ROUND (the objective the team is playing for) I show that if the team wants to play for an objective, you can evaluate the usage of each players turns to see if they were the best use possible to lead towards that rounds goal. There are a LOT of other factors that play into it, and I can do a video on those too if it's something you're interested in. But thank you for taking the time to give me your thoughts!

Boc you're gaming. As an anthropologist, could you reply and talk about david graeber? I love his work but haven't branched out to anyone else. Do you have any recommendations?

Hmmmm, well personally I do not love Anarchism on a pragmatic level. I think his IDEALS are good, harm reduction through eliminating structural inequality is very admirable, I just don't believe Anarchism is the way to go about it. I think instituations DO have an important part to play, but I agree that there is a lot of bloat that can be cut away to have a more efficient system. As far as recommendations, If you just want to read some stuff of the foundations of modern Anthro, check of Franz Boas. Definitely a bit dated, but he's inspired so many of the modern Anthropolgists. You also might enjoy Lila Abu-Lughod as she touches on a lot of modern cultural issues (nationalism, political violence, power of the state)
