Thank you and your colleagues for doing this. I’m a physiotherapist whose education strongly emphasized evidence-based medicine, so we were made aware of how easy it is to misinterpret studies. Putting books out for the masses, especially when written in lay terms, definitely have the potential to mislead readers (as you all too well know).

Thanks Dr. Kratz for your efforts in helping to create Red Pen Reviews. Many skilled authors approach writing their books in a way similar to how an attorney builds a legal case to be argued in court. They will state in glowing terms any and all points (big or small) that help support their case, but any arguments that don't serve that purpose are ignored. They leave it up to the opposition to make that case. Nothing they say is strictly untruthful, but it can be severely biased. We, as the judge, are required to hear both sides, weigh the evidence and make a ruling. Red Pen reviews should be a great resource in helping to determine the weight one can give to the evidence presented in a book. Cheers!

Wow. Thank you! I am starting a year of seriously improving my lifestyle choices based on evidence, and Red Pen Reviews will be a needed and important resource for the nutritional element. Otherwise, it is confusing and overwhelming. I muchly appreciate your approach.

Thank you so so much for doing this YT Channel. Will follow your channel regularly. I am a huge fan of Dr.Stephan Guyenet. His book; The Hungry Brain made me dig deep to obesity researches during early Covid pandemic. Knowing Red Pen Review from him. The website is tremendous beneficial for laypersons to differentiate science from fiction. Just one question, It seems to me that the website is no longer active (sorry I may be wrong). Or I have to pay subscription to the website which I am willing to do. Please clarify. Greeting from Thailand 🥰

Dear momezart, Thank you for your comment! Glad that you found my channel. Red Pen Reviews is a great resource for sure. I even made a video about it, if you haven't seen it yet. We are planning many more book reviews this year, and hope to scale the organization enough to regularly cover most popular nutrition books on the market. The website is currently up, and I have not had any issues accessing it recently. This is definitely a free website without paywall, membership, or subscription, so you should be able to access it. Please let me know if you continue to have problems, and I'll let the website manager know (you can also send me a message through the contact form on www.nourishedbyscience.com). Again, welcome to my young channel! Cheers Mario

Wow! I would have thought that a book like T. Colin Campbell's "The China Study" would have been an example of a well written book on nutrition given his background as a researcher and academic, but it is rated as a middling effort. Interesting.

Surprising and interesting reviews on red pen! Especially The Obesity Code, which has helped me personally, but interesting to read the review. Looking forward to more information on this channel about the science (or lack of) with intermittent fasting.

People blindly trust citations. I've been wondering myself about those citations. But human nature makes us too lazy to click on them. More convenient to just get impressed that they are there.

I have to study your "score-system" - right now I don't intuitively get value from it :)
@nourishedbyscience Жыл бұрын
Sorry, it's a bit complicated, but generally, the higher the scores (100 is max), the higher the information quality of the book. Best, Mario

You need to hire a more skilled webmaster. As you doubtless know, much of your content is illegible.

Ray, thank you for your feedback. Do you mean Nourished by Science or Red Pen Reviews? Please note that I am not running Red Pen Reviews; I am just a contributor there. However, if you have problems with either site, I will take this feedvback seriously. Thank you. Cheers Mario

No clue what you are talking about. I completely disagree. The websites are clear and concise and easy to navigate. If you are going to criticize, at least be clear what you are criticizing. The only thing illegible is your comment.
