Portrayed as a heavenly being, who, having sought the highest seat in heaven, was cast down into the underworld where he spends his time helping people to destroy the world and give God the big finger. It seems however that “Lucifer” is the victim of a typical dark age Christian witch hunt and not only that “Lucifer” is actually a light worker whose name is Sanskrit. ~ Sanskrit has the root “bhr” which possesses the primal meaning of “to bear ( hr ) with energy ( b )” its expressing the ability to “endure” to “bear” “exert” “suffer” “balance” “bestow” “conceive” and this is best expressed in its other meaning “to become pregnant”. “Bhr” becomes “bhara” meaning “weight” “load” “burden” “bear” which then becomes “bharata” meaning “that which is maintained” a name for “Agni” as without being maintained “Agni” will go out, and of course “Bharata” is the ancient name of India. ~ “Bhr” and “bhara” meaning “to bear” becomes the Greek “phero” meaning “to bear” which then becomes the Latin “fero” meaning “to bear” and this is seen in words such as “conifer” as in “that which bears ( fer ) cones” and “aquifer” as in “that which bears ( fer ) water ( aqua )” and “transfer” as in “that which is carried ( fer ) across ( tran )”. ~ So we have one part of the word “fer” meaning to “bear” the other part is “luc” which comes from the Sanskrit “lok” meaning “to see” “to perceive” “to behold” and this becomes “loka” meaning “space” “place” “region” which then becomes the Indo/euro “leuk” meaning “light” the Greek “leukos” meaning “white” and the Latin “lucidus” meaning “clear”. ~ So we can see how “Lucifer” whose name means “the bearer ( fer ) of light ( luc )” has been stitched up by the church. Originally “Lucifer” was the Latin name for “Venus” who was known as “the morning star” reflecting his name “the bearer ( fer ) of light ( luc )”. Due to the unique movements of Venus which appears as the morning star and also the evening star this was used by the church to concoct a personality who rose to great heights within the heavens only to be cast down as the morning star climbing above the horizon. ~ “Lucifer” is known in the Bible as “Heylel” whose meaning is “morning star” the words “helel ben shahar” which are found in the Bible means “Venus the morning star”. The original Hebrew word “Helel” means “shining one” “light bearer” which is the exact etymology of “Lucifer” and the translation for “Helel” as given in the King James Bible is “Lucifer” the Latin name for “Venus”. As translated from the original Hebrew we find the following verse - ~ " How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.' But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.” Isiah 14.12-17 ~ In this verse “Lucifer” is mentioned as “the son of the dawn” and in Latin we find that “Lucifer” is the son of “Aurora” the dawn goddess whose name comes from the Vedic goddess of the dawn “Usas” as seen in the following quotes - ~ “ In classical mythology, Lucifer ("light-bringer" in Latin) was the name of the planet Venus, though it was often personified as a male figure bearing a torch. The Greek name for this planet was variously Phosphoros (also meaning "light-bringer") or Heosphoros (meaning "dawn-bringer"). Lucifer was said to be "the fabled son of Aurora and Cephalus, and father of Ceyx". He was often presented in poetry as heralding the dawn.” Encyclopedia Britanica. ~ “ Lucifer's mother Aurora is cognate to the Vedic goddess Ushas, Lithuanian goddess Aušrinė, and Greek Eos, all three of whom are also goddesses of the dawn. All four are considered derivatives of the Proto-Indo-European stem *h₂ewsṓs (later *Ausṓs), "dawn", a stem that also gave rise to Proto-Germanic *Austrō, Old Germanic *Ōstara and Old English Ēostre / Ēastre. This agreement leads to the reconstruction of a Proto-Indo-European dawn goddess.” Mallory, J.P.; Adams, D.Q. (2006). The Oxford Introduction to Proto-Indo-European and the Proto-Indo-European World. ~ The evidence seems clear “Lucifer” is innocent and the church are nothing more than a fraudulent sect. In the 3rd century A.D. we find in the city of Sardinia a bishop known as “Lucifer of Cagliari” now why name the bishop after the Devil ? Its like naming a practitioner of Bhakti yoga “demon devi dasi”. In the 3rd century A.D. we also find “Lucifer of Siena” the first bishop to be appointed in Siena in the year of 306 A.D. Can you imagine today a church congregation being told that the church was going to be managed by “Lucifer” ? So what is different between today and the 3rd century ? Simple, in the 3rd century “Lucifer” did not mean the Devil, it was simply a Latin word meaning “Venus” the “morning star” and later on this was manipulated into the Devil courtesy of a church which cannot exist upon its own foundations and has to rely upon fraudulent manipulations of which the church has a long, long history of.

Atheistic Satanism sounds similar to a an ancient Indian philosophy called Charvaka. This system was prevalent in the time of the Buddha & did give competition to Buddhism. But under the combined pressure from Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism, Charvaka was stamped out of public consciousness. Whatever we know about Charvaka comes from a dialogue between Buddha & Ajatashatru in Pali canon & Sarvadarshanasamgraha, a Sanskit compendium on prevalent Indian philosophies compiled in the 14th century by Madhavacharya.

Regarding the "Satanic Panic" of the 70s and 80s, I have a story... When AC⚡️DC first came to Amarillo Texas, I had to run a gauntlet of protesters who were all determined to tell me that I was going to hell for wanting to see the HIGHWAY TO HELL tour........ I made myself hoarse just yelling back at them " No,I'm going to the concert, it's going to be good, you should come along!" Nobody took me up on it..... They missed out,it was a great show.

As a person who grew up in a family with generational traditional Satanists, I can assure you there was a legit basis to the "Satanic panic". I can give anecdotal reasons, but you don't know me and would probably say I'm lying. Therefore, look into the Presidio Army base case. Children with STD's from being rituals abused. This went on on base and had numerous tentacles into leadership! Or maybe Lawrence King and the Franklin case. High level political figure involved in Satanism and child prost. There were again, numerous links to high society. And these situations go on and on. They are worshipping and doing the will of a very real Satan. The folks saying Satan is just a symbol for rebellion are purposely being deceptive.

Sounds like AC/DC was considered a very bad band in Texas. I have family in Texas and they all say AC/DC is some dangerous satanic, devil worship band because of their song "Highway to Hell". It's the most laughable thing I've ever seen considering how shallow that song title is in comparison to actual satanic bands. My theory is that the devil & god are neither good or bad, god is a symbol of Lawful & Control while Satan is seen as Chaotic & freedom.

Excellent video! My only issue is with the description of satanism in black metal. Euronymous talked very heavily out his rectum, expressing his admiration for Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler in the same breath. In short, he just wanted to rile people up. Also, he closed his record shop when his mother expressed concern about the media attention on it, which is just kind of funny. Now, there are *absolutely* theistic satanists in black metal, i.e the members of Watain (Misanthropic Luciferian Order) and, going off context clues, Aosoth (Order of the Nine Angles), which I think are better examples. Overall though, the video is a solid overview of a confusing, multifaceted subject. Great work as always.

@@Observer01-qn8eg What bible are you reading? He calls Satan a liar, and murder. He put him below the beasts of the earth. He had a major war in heaven with him and the fallen. Hes condemned him to the lake of fire for all hes done. What about Satan's fallen Angels that were sealed in prison for 70 generations. Sounds like God really liked Satan and his minions didn't he? The earth is Satan's for now due to mans corruption. He sent his son once to bring his Fathers message of hope to the world. Next time he comes with a sword. At one time Satan was a magnificent Angel and then was corrupted by his jealousy. God speaks on how great he once was. Then speaks of his corruption. and his ultimate down fall. That's what's wrong with people like you, you listen to others who are corrupted and you make false claims with out doing your research. Or you take scripture out of context. You can make the bible say anything if you do that. A perfect example is the Catholic Church and prosperity ministers. The Quran is Satan's book.

People tend to fear what they don’t understand. Ignorance is bliss in there minds, but they love to correct you all while ignoring the embodiment of Christ. The same people that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem as the messiah were the ones throwing stones and demanding he be crucified the next day. Fear is a powerful thing, it causes people to be blind. Muslims and Christians alike.

@8:54 It is worth mentioning that it would have been incredibly taboo in Abrahamic societies to consider oneself a Satanist. A lack of historical records of groups or individuals identifying themselves as Satan worshippers should not be considered surprising. It is quite possible for these groups to have existed without leaving much record of their presence or activities. This, of course, is not proof that they existed, but is worth considering. Taking the incredible diversity of human culture into account, it seems quite likely that at least very small groups of or individual Satan worshippers did indeed existed throughout history, even if we haven't yet discovered definitive proof of their existence.

I interpret the story in the Quran where angels and Satan are commanded to bow (prostrate) to humans as follows: I believe there are aspects lost in translation. It's not about worshipping humans, but rather more like the love and devotion humans feel toward a cat-an instruction to cherish, protect, and watch over humanity. The command is for angels to watch over humanity from their realm, safeguarding them on this earthly level (or perceptual level). By refusing, Satan declares enmity toward humans and is cast down to the earthly realm for his disobedience to God, stripped of his angelic duty.

When you mention how we got “Devil,” we also have to understand how the Daivas were turned into “evil ones” from the Sanskrit Devas, who were shining/good ones. There’s a cultural history of possible schisms in the Indo-Aryan culture that might have somewhere around the end of the Bronze Age been a cultural split. Zarathustra refers to the social disorder that the warrior class created by abusing their original pact with the farming class where the farmers fed the warriors who would protect them from threats. The problem arose when the warriors abused the farmers and the prophet developed his restructured belief system in which Ahura Mazda (Great Spirit, Ruach in Hebrew) became the all-powerful one. The faith developed a practice of propitiating the “evil/opposing” forces to stave off offenses, much like Rudra in Vedic rituals. We can propose a potential correlation to when the Mesopotamian priesthood supported a warriors class to protect the trade/pilgrimage routes between the temple-based City-States evolving out of the Neolithic. Eventually, these became more competitively independent and kings began to war with each other, stealing the idols to gain the bounty of pilgrims, attached to the idols. Herein lies the Abrahamic opposition to idolatrous dependency. If Brahmā relates to the forms of divinity, thus idols, then Abraham relates to A-Brahmā.

So much love and respect for this channel. One thing that i started to think about while listening to this excellent delve into a beloved figure to me was the idea of the figure representing older deities. While this has always redonated with me in a sense as, Lucifer is a valid modern hero fighting against a corrupt church and followets. But i couldn't help but then see Lucifer as gateway to re-indigenonating onself. As a mear representation of pagan gods, he is still colonizing archetype used by the church to represent ways that are not deemed Christian. Anyway, not sure i articulated that well but all here who are on a path seeking wisdom, liberation, and knowledge, be blessed with it tenfold.
@dec23 ай бұрын
Thought provoking comment, so here's a random person's opinion. Lucifer can definitely been seen as a "valid modern hero", but uniquely modern - and revolutionary. He can feature prominently -overtly or covertly - in the modern pantheon of personal archetypes, embodying Liberty and the ideals of liberalism and self rule. As well as the Western 17th century version of Enlightenment. As a reanimation of the old pantheons, I can somewhat see that idea. It's the thought provoking bit for me. But those pantheons were very chaotic, violent, vindictive, and oppressive (attributes also sometimes associated with the Old Testament version of Yahweh). So I'm not sure there's a net benefit or a redeeming virtue or hero's journey in this quest. More of the vanquished on a revenge campaign. So in this role, I would associate that more with his Satan aspect than his Lucifer aspect. Just opinions. I can tell you appreciate this character. So I'm sure we'd disagree, but I liked your take.
@desertBruja3 ай бұрын
@dec2 mmm i like where you're going with "more of the vanquished on a revenge campaign." Certainly a complex figure that leaves much for interpretation. When I think about what I've learned about the old pantheons in relation to your insight, I think of matriarchal goddesses like Inana, Ishtar or ancient wisdom that has been snuffed out by colonial expansion in the name of God. Those forgotten names that this archetype of Satan/ Lucifer or even Baphomet has come to be blanket representation for. I'd come to realize that I'd rather move on to know them than a conjured Christian based overarching archetype to represent the old gods and goddesses. I enjoyed your insights and interpretations. It's refreshing to hear people's thoughts

Babhomet has existed for about 700 years. (or the HRE representation of the sciences circa 1300 AD) Lucifer has existed about 1000 years. (or the basis for HRE derived from the Christian devil) Satan has existed around 2000 years. (or the Christian devil) Even the word 'pagan' is only used by Christians for someone who's religious without being Christian. Heretic if they are pretending to be Christian also. The only common thing being Christianity. Are we to assume that it's inherently Christian to make demons of everyone that doesn't share their beliefs? The answer is yes and it is something Matthew 7:1-3 KJV says Jesus might have opposed. So who knows....

We must also notice a few historical things. The Masonic/Templar Knight connection to the supposed cult of Baphomet actually has roots in Daksha, which means Ritual Skill. Shiva cut his head off and was forced to replace it with the first animal he saw, which was a goat. There is a link to European ritualism as well, since sacrificing a goat got you to the highest heaven. These animals are vehicles for a particular deity. A goat was sacred to Thor, so they “pulled his chariot” and he was called “the wader,” which means Thor is related to Capricorn and the 1st son of Heaven and Earth in the depths of Winter. Sacrificial animals are also vehicles for the priest/shaman rides the soul released at death into the heavenly hall sacred to the associated god.

The Satanic Temple tenets are by far more compassionate, more beneficial than the Bible's 10 commandments. I One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason. II The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. III One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone. IV The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. V Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs. VI People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused. VII Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

In the old testament, God wasn't something we could in today's society call inherently good. The old testament god was vindictive, spiteful and wouldn't blink an eye when destroying whole civilizations. As the old testament God isn't good, the adversary from the story of Job isn't evil either. The story of Job is the story of the nature of God and the story of the nature humanity. While something that could be characterized as 'evil' does exist in the world, that evil is due to humanity alone. The evil in the world has no religious (or divine) origin, at least, if the story of Job is to be believed. Much like in today's society, it's easier to think that something evil is preventing your success. It's much more difficult to 'assign blame' to yourself in someone who decides what direction your life takes. Facing adversity builds character, it's a force of good if anything. While this video is very interesting, I personally find the concept of Satan and satanism boring, it's all been done before. Luciferianism on the other hand would be a good topic for this channel to consider in the future. The source material being Vulgate in comparison to what Christianity was before the Vulgate. This being a good segue to how the Holy Roman Empire has it's origins in Luciferianism.

God in the NT is the same as in the OT. Read about apologetics as to why it seems different.
@aliceinwonderland43953 ай бұрын
What a joke of a comment. Do atheists actually think before they type? Every single time God destroys "civilisations" in the Old Testament a reason is given and the reason is typically because said people were sadistic pagans who committed sinful and lecherous acts of evil against humanity. If you're going to reference the Old Testament make sure you read it first before embarrassing yourself. It's incredible that you think God destroyed Noah's generation "without the blink of an eye" when it was literally stated that God was sorrowful and emotionally moved by the purely evil actions of his creation.
@Kamamura23 ай бұрын
@@betos-08 That's only your personal opinion, which might be very well quite wrong. Even in the books of the Old Testament, different names are used for god - Jahve in some books, and Elohim (which is strangely a plural) in others, because they come form different cultural traditions. Also, the old testament God kills people, even newborn, and commits terrible crimes - New testament god does nothing like that. Therefore, it's quite reasonable to assume those are different (imaginary) entities. As Carl Sagan correctly pointed out, people talking about god only think they speak about the same thing - the may mean quite different things.

@@Kamamura2 Gnostics thought it was 2 different gods but the Church Fathers taught it was the same. Just read apologetics that explain it, it's not my opinion, it's been explained for over 2000 years.

This video was "ok", which really falls short of expectation given the channel. Too much time was wasted on political movements that merely use satanism as a gimmick, be it feminism or the Satanic Temple. There is no religious thought to them. I could understand their mention in a video from a generic curiosities channel, but not Let's Talk Religion. It would be like presenting Christianity in a religious studies context and including a segment on the Westboro Baptist Church, Q-Anon, or the crazy youtube guy who thinks God inhabits his body. It is good that Black Metal was touched upon. Nevertheless, only bands with a very superficial and fundamentally edgy concept of satanism (like Mayhem or Venom) were mentioned. Black Metal, in fact, gives us the most sophisticated take on satanism yet, that is, through the "Orthodox Black Metal" scene. The band Deathspell Omega and its mastermind, Hasjarl, are invaluable in this, and both the lyrics and interviews are great material. For anyone interested, I would strongly suggest the following video: "This Wound of God: A Philosophy of Deathspell Omega".
