allow me to give a quick recap on the modern Sonic Racing games it started with a big SEGA crossover as a racing game (Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing), and it was a clear Mario Kart copy then they made a sequel, and really gave it a unique identity (Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed), with the cards transforming into aircrafts and boats mid-race followed by Team Sonic Racing, a lot more basic than the previous titles (with a Sonic only identity), but with a really nice team mechanic for a kart racer and based on the name, logo and info, we are gonna get a soft sequel to S&ASRT (as a small description says that we'll race across land, sea, sky, time and space), with a Sonic only cast with somekind of Prime connection

I genuinely don't get why most people seem to hate other kart racing games and platform fighting games. It's so weird to me. The majority of the gaming community literally plays almost every traditional fighting game, shooters, platformers, and rpg known to man, but they seem to draw the line when it comes to playing other kart racers and platform fighters outside of Mario Kart and Smash Bros. If other kart racers and other platform fighters are just Mario Kart clones and Smash Bros clones, why do people play other platformers, shooters, rpgs, and traditional fighting games ? People love saying, "wElL otHeR kaRt rACerS aNd pLatFoRm fIGhtErs arEnT dOinG anYthInG to iNnoVaTe tHoSE gEnReS 🤓." You never hear someone calling Moral Kombat and Tekken a clone of Street Fighter. You never hear people call other first-person shooting games a Doom clone. You don't hear people calling 3D platformers a Mario clone. I'm convinced people are biased towards other kart racers and platform fighters. That's something I've been noticing over the years. It just explains why MultiVersus gets so much hate and why Disney Speedstorm does as well. People are constantly bashing MultiVersus on Twitter and making hate videos here on KZbin about how the game won't last. Disney Speedstorm gets a bunch of hate here on youtube whenever a trailer to a new season drops. The comment sections are always flooded with hate.

Its becase Mario Kart and Smash is simply a better game than anything these other companies can produce. MK8 is one of the best racers of all time (im a MK64 guy tho lol) no other modern kart racer comes close, so they should be trying something different to set themselves apart. When they dont, they just get lumped i to a category of "Mario Kart but worse." The Sonic kart racers also fall into that cetegory, and rightfully so. I personally think Sonic Riders 1 is the best racing game ever made. It had an unmatched sense of speed, style, and just overall coolness that ive never seen from another racer. It was entirely unique and just felt so right for Sonic as a series. Thats why its so infurating to us Riders fans that they wont give it another chance. Its like they think theres no market for it when the second game had this weird gravity control mechanic that didnt click with many players, and the last game was on the F-ing Kinect. All they needed was Riders 1 gameplay with more content

@DarianWade Disney Speedstorm, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway, Lego 2K Drive, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed are way better games than Mario Kart 64. You're just blinded by nostalgia. This is what I mean when I say people are biased af lmfao.

@@tvgamerstan6180 you're right, I do have nostalgia for MK64 which is why that was more of a comment on my personal tastes. What I was primarily talking about was MK8, in general, everybody loves that game and it outclasses all the rest. I also liked All Stars Racing, but let's not pretend it's on MK8's level. Heck, the sales numbers speak for themselves at over 70million. Also I've never heard anyone speak negatively on Crash Team Racing. That's a pretty beloved old-school racer, so it's not really relevant here

@@DarianWade I just find it boring to be only interested in one kart racing game. That's like only being into one shooter, rpg, open world game, or platformer. I'm the type of person who wants to play Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, Team Sonic Racing, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway, Lego 2K, and Disney Speedstorm. Just being only into Mario Kart is very basic imo.

In my case, I had a big grudge against it because it felt like at the time, especially around the late 2000s and some of the 2010s, any racing game that was made to be a kart racer (usually if it was based on an IP) felt like a "less famous Mario Kart," which often wasn't a good thing. Too many of them were pretty subpar and other racing titles that were in other sub genres (such as most antigrav racing games as well as Sonic Riders) were shelved because not only did they not sell well enough...they just weren't kart racers. And even now, there are arguments for kart racers being preferred which I get but I always hear "well, they sell more." But that's safe, and usually generic. Kart racers, in my mind, shouldn't be trying to just chase Mario Kart. That won't make them special enough to play and if they do have online, the scene will die out without proper support (which is what happened to Team Sonic Racing. CTR, last I played also doesn't have much of an online scene either. Both are pretty good, but a lot of people have a "Well, why not just play Mario Kart" mentality). This is why some of us had a beef with the kart racing genre. Though I feel some modern day kart racers are getting a fair bit interesting, such as The Karters 2. I still do wish that other types of racers could do far better than they would usually do instead of kart racers and sim racers being overly dominant in the genre.

Honestly, I can't be too sure. I was introduced to Riders a while back, but never really knew anything about it nor got the chance to actually play it. I had Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing for my DS (still do, though my DS is my sister's now, ever since I upgraded to the New 2DS XL), and it was fun. I never got to experience Transformed - it wouldn't work for us - but when TSR rolled around, I was curious. The story in and of itself actually seemed kind of cool, and the tracks were beautiful. Plus, prior to, I had been thinking about how data chips infused with wisp biometrics might enhance the extreme gear (which at the time I only knew as hoverboards) and had worked my brain around that for a game concept. Anywho, I hope they do another good story for this one. Actually, this is the first I've heard of this, so thanks for putting it on my radar. Maybe we'll see both cars and hoverboards? You know, be able to have multiple options to choose from? Also, "Shadow getting into his car", so... not a bike? seriously? Alright then, whatever. It still presents the opportunity to be cool.

If Sega were to put the classic characters into the roster, including Classic Sonic, Classic Tails, Classic Knuckles, Classic Amy, Classic Eggman, Fang the hunter, Bean the dynamite, Bark the polar bear, Mighty the armadillo, Ray the flying squirrel, Honey the cat, Trip the sungazer, the classic versions of the chaotix, even the hard boiled heavies. Oh baby, I would go crazy!!🤩🤩🤩🤩

I have a feeling the Extreme Gear might be a part of the Transform gimmick along with other vehicles, though I'm still not holding my breath. I hope this game also gets the extras from the Apple Arcade game, such as the Green Hill race tracks and skins. I was thinking it would be an enhanced port of it from the logo. It'll probably be a celebration of a lot of eras of Sonic. I also think it might be a joint collaboration between Sumo Digital and Sega Hardlight. I hope that Tennis game is also on consoles. TSR was just so mediocre. I consider it the Forces of all the Sonic spinoffs ever. It wasn't a bad game by any means, it just didn't do anything too special or amazing. The updates were very lackluster. It's like they didn't know what to do and ran out of ideas. I like Free Riders more than that game. So I'm sure Crossworlds will be better. While I wouldn't mind if the Racing/All Stars series continued as both series have great games, the Riders series was such a unique competitor to Mario Kart, and it's surprising that no one made a spiritual successor yet, even though they were never the most popular. It would be nice if they continued both and released Riders games alongside kart racers to please all fans, since the Racing series did actually sell a lot more and got generally better reception. There's also more of them, including the SA2 Kart Racing side mode, and some mobile games. The only other most similar racing series I know is SSX. I'm saying this as someone who grew up with Mario Kart. What made this series unique was that they didn't feature cars and they had in depth story modes, and that is something I appreciate as you don't really get that anywhere else, making the experience and characters more memorable, and that goes for the whole Sonic series. Free Riders is in fact my favourite one! Controls always worked well for me. I think it has the best track design in the series, and designing for the Kinect was a really neat idea, but they should have added a controller option. Honestly, optimising for the Kinect must have been really expensive, so in turn the story mode took a downgrade with those cutscenes and simpler plot, though I never hated it as the cutscenes are more expressive than most animated ones and the story is better written and suits a racing game more, plus I like how more characters are involved, plus Metal Sonic. Shame Zero Gravity scrapped most mechanics as it felt boring to play, almost as much as TSR, but it's story would have been really good in a mainline game. The first game didn't have a tutorial, which really affected it's reception, and something that Free Riders did really well. Its graphics look almost as good as Unleashed, and its locations were the most unique. There's just so much untouched potential! I'm grateful there are some fan games and mods that exist. I can't wait for the dx 3.0 update with custom tracks, as it's only in X at the moment! I Also checked out a Roblox fan game, and was reminded of the forgotten battle mode, and I thought, imagine custom battle arenas! Would you want the next game to feature this? I think it could be really good if they had bigger arenas and better items! What sort of story should the next game have? Should it play more like the first game or even feature the Zero Gravity gimmick? Free Riders played more like the first but slightly more simplified and had really cool setpieces and side modes, so I would love gameplay which takes that further! It would be good if they did something like that to make it more accessible, plus a detailed tutorial mode! This is why I disagree that their gameplay is way too in-depth for casual gamers, and that is proof that they can simplify it to be accessible enough while maintaining that core feel. And if you want more Riders gameplay, at least Speed Simulator has Extreme Gear.

When people talk about kart racing games they are also talking about games with an item system Even then Super Mario Kart came out before Sonic-Drift
