What a great informative video. Having used many makes/machines over the years (yes I am old 😂) Juki is my favourite, fab machines, reliable, strong and easy to use. My first was the DX7, a great machine and if I’m honest my favourite. I upgraded to the UX8 (am in the UK so DX4000 equivalent) and again another great machine that I love. I mainly sew bags (as a hobby) and have for a long time. I decided to add a TL2300 (not sure what your equivalent model number is) and I can now use the thicker threads for top stitching. I also find it a great machine for soft toy making which saves my UX8 from all that fluff 😂 So in essence, after researching what I needed for bag making in the past I will say that your advice is spot on and will I wish I’d had it when I was struggling to find the right machine…well done 👏 Anyone looking to buy a new machine, you can’t go wrong with a Juki they are fantastic machines x

Listening to you speak while I’m sewing up some leather ( heavy duty:) framing chisel sheaths. Only 1/2 inch thick English bridal leather. On my 115 year old Landis # 3 harness stitcher . The old workhorse is still chugging along. New machines are in the future. ❤

I've been a Janome owner since I started quilting almost 10 years ago. I bought a TL-18 as a Christmas present to myself last year and wow, it is a great bag making machine! I love my computerized Janomes - Skyline S7 and an M17 - but the Juki is a beast! It is amazing for bag making.

I have the TL2010q and have made some pouches and one large tote that was not heavily interefaced but had leather strap handles. I've had no problems. What I really wanted it for - because I have 4 Berninas - is because I saw so many quilters use it and loved it and I concur!! Also, I follow someone very well known on Instagrams that has a TL she uses to make TONS of bags - mostly from quilting cottons but she does use vinyl a lot too. And there's another woman who makes bags and pouches on a TL. It's really a great machine that I do not regret purchasing!!

My DX7 was my first Juki and I love it for all my piecing and taking on retreats. My NX7 is my second Juki and so far she's been great but she needed to go back to Juki because the needle was a little off center. Hopefully she'll come back all fixed up because she was great for making all my knitting project bags. I mainly use quilt cotton and cotton canvas. I also use the NX7 for quilting. The 12" throat space is awesome. A small part of me regretted getting the NX7 instead of the TL but after watching this video I do think the NX7 is a better fit. I might have to add a TL to my collection if I start making more bags to share with my knitting group. Thank you for all you do.

I bought a Juki F300 8 months ago because the refurbished Brother Project Runway model I have can’t handle the quilting projects I started (and continue to make). Since then I’ve also made 2 weekender bags and an attaché/laptop case. For the most part, my Juki can handle whatever I throw I’m at it, although it doesn’t like to play nice with stiff foam fusible stabilizers. If I thought I would be making bags a lot more, I might consider upgrading; however, since I had to take out a loan to pay for my ~$600 F300, I don’t foresee making a change anytime soon. I❤️JUKI!!!

I have the Juki DDL-9000c-fms, which is a computerized industrial machine. I sew 2 layers of unlined quilting cotton on it all the time, in fact it is what I sew the most. It also handles fleece and sherpa well. I also use heavy duck cotton, vinyl and ottertex on it with no issues. However - full disclosure - I am NOT a bag maker YET. I have only made totes and the PursePal (Linds Handmade). Also- this machine is on the pricey side.

I needed this video XD but I already made my decision. I ended up with an industrial since my question was hakura or 1541s. I chose the 1541s since I want to work with leather leather. I was also conflicted on the du1181 but I didn't think it would be good for the veg tan leather since I also make clothes, jackets, harnesses etc. Thanks for answering this question! I'm glad I made the right choice.

I have industrial machines. Direct drive straight stitch. Industrial 4 thread overlock direct drive. Both have speed adjustment. But they don't have the versatility as the Juki NX7 OR UX8 OR NX7 I sew a lot of fine work. Thin fabrics which need slow speeds, and perfect stitches, expensive garments

This video was really needed because there are so many different Juki machines to chose from. I have a JukiTL 2010Q. Best machine ever, for everything I sew. I do want to get another Juki that is as strong as the JukiTL for my bags, but also does the different stitches and is good for taking to Sewing retreats. Did you day you recommend the DX series?

Hi can you give me some advice what the in the log file on Juki NX7 error history has E007 noted twice? It’s a second hand machine I was looking at buying but concerned this could be something expensive to sort. It has 133132 stitches 1376 number of thread trimmings . Are these a lot? Not sure what time of evolution or time of energisation means? Thanks

I’m just starting my bag making with my TL18. So far I’ve only put Tex70 thread in bobbin and top and put in a size 16 needle and tested the tension on a vinyl strap. I needed the Teflon foot then got a great stitch by making minor adjustments to the tension. I’m not sure about having to always be adjusted the tension between tex70 and glide 40. Would you talk about this when bag making with the TL machine. Is glide strong enough to construct heavy vinyl and waterproof canvas bags?
@JukiJunkies
@JukiJunkies 11 ай бұрын
Yes we use Glide 40 all the time for bag making :) Typically use the tex 70 for top stitching. Just make sure to not use thread cutter with that

I have a TL 2010Q which I purchased late 2023 and I have an issue with it. I make bags with Faux Leather or cotton fabric. When I am sewing a bag and have to stop to adjust the fabric, then when I want to sew again the machine will not go. I press my foot on the foot peddle or press the Needle Up/Down button, nothing happens the machine will not go. The only thing I can do is take my hand off the sewing and turn the wheel a little and then the machine will start sewing again. This happen most of the time, sometimes I don't have any trouble. It is like the machine freezes or something is sticking. Have you ever come across this problem. I can really do with your help. I have complained about it to the dealer but I don't think they believe me. I have been sewing for more than 50 years so I do know when something is wrong.
