The CSB is updated from HOLMAN standard, correct? That's what I've recently started using but prior to that it was the ESV & NASB. I found the Berean study bible to be good too. Have you heard of it? Good video i enjoyed all the history
@BeingaDisciple6 ай бұрын
Yes. The CSB is updated from the Holman. I’m not even sure if they are selling the older Holman version. Mostly the CSB. I have heard good things concerning the Berean translation but have yet to use it in my studies.

@@BeingaDiscipleI use the Berean Standard Bible. It’s been a fantastic translation.

What about the NASB and now the more literal translation and update of the NASB 95, the LSB, Legacy Standard Bible?
@BeingaDisciple4 ай бұрын
@@NVprods yes. I tried to pick a wide variety of translations. There are a lot of good translations that could be added to the list.

NRSV, NET, and NIV are my top 3. Glad to see them getting love. For formal equivelence I like to use the RSV. The NIV has more of an evangelical bias and the NRSV is more ecumenical. The NRSV and NIV are great to compare for those reasons. The NET is great for the translators notes like you said, and also, it's just fun to read because of the sometimes wild word choices.

Thanks for the video, Brother! You're right it's a fraught topic, lots of emotional opinions, and we shouldn't let these disagreements get in the way of building each other up in Christ. I am curious, the NKJV is a Formal Equivalent translation, and equal in terms of literal wording as it's ancestor the KJV. Why did you choose to put it in the Thought for Thought category?
@BeingaDisciple4 ай бұрын
The NKJV set out to be a formal equivalent translation but since they used some of the poetic structure and wording of the original KJV, I felt it couldn’t be in the formal equivalent camp completely. It is more formal equivalent than thought for thought.

Problem is modern translations have omitted many verses. Accuracy is utmost importance

New King James Version is a very accurate translation.
@JosephAlanMeador4 ай бұрын
Yep, it's slightly mis-categorized here since it's not a" thought for thought" translation. The NKJV is an accurate Formal Equivalence translation, with the added bonus of also retaining some of the poetic beauty of the KJV.
@JosephAlanMeador4 ай бұрын
Had to fix my previous comment from Dynamic to Formal. Yes, NKJV is super accurate and beautiful to read in my opinion. It's great for memorization too!
@BeingaDisciple4 ай бұрын
It’s a hard one to put in either of the categories. They set out to do a Formal Equivalence translation but also use the poetic structure of the original KJV. So that kind of moves it out of the “pure” formal equivalence camp. But overall it probably is more Formal Equivalence then thought for thought.

The KJV and the NKJV use the textus receptus, which excludes virtually all modern atchaelogical discoveries of older manuscript evidence.

The NKJV is the most accurate translation.

Shakespear used very embelished language meant to mock the nobles. All of his plays are political or social satire. "Shakespearian" english was never the way folk wrote or spoke in those days.

If the KJB is the only God ordained bible for English language.......then which for Cinese French Spainish etc. That is a very misinformed statement.

KJB is the only one that God has ordained for the English language. Praise be to Him for preserving His Word. Which He places above His name!

I use the KJV. Where does it say that so that I can quote it to those who don't believe that?
@nobodyspecial18523 ай бұрын
@@Rod-Wheelerwhere does "the bible" self identify as infallible and what books are considered canonical..... it's a compendium of the best that survived when Israel fell, doesn't include the exclusive levite canon, and adds the new testament (which is way more contested) and there is the apocrypha that is "scripture" bor not canonical scripture. Lots of nuance there! There is a faith component, and it's based on the message and testimony within, not the exact wording... but that's what people fixate on.

I love the KJB. The Elizabethan English is not that difficult to understand. The KJV Bible is the only version I read and study with. I don't care for other Bible versions.
