Reminds me when I was young and dumb. Worked at a tire store that had the singe post in ground Rotary lifts. In order do lift a full size dodge van without the center post hitting the drive shaft we would use a 4x4 about 6 inches long on each side of the rear. Looking back lifting those without proper truck adapters was really dumb. I thank the Good Lord that He watched over me!
@lucifchristo4 жыл бұрын
When you're in a tight spot I've come to find that it's actually safer to have a few pieces of wood that are large enough to put underneath the jack rather than on the jack itself. This is definitely far more stable but can still be a bit hairy
@FOZ232 жыл бұрын
I always thought that the wood was to prevent wearing. So it wouldn't be metal on metal.

If I had to make the choice. I would have went for the 3 ton long reach low profile. Though the lowest height is marginal but sometimes just a half inch can make a difference. What I do like is the higher 24inches. Works real well with the 6 ton Jack stands. And when I am working on the ground under a vehicle. It is nice to have that extra room without having to raise it in multiple stages to get the height I need. That is my own opinion. You may not need that aspect of it. I do.

@coytus942 жыл бұрын
If you are going to be lifting heavier duty trucks with it I'd get the 4 ton. For most people however, the 3 ton low profile long reach is the best option. Has the foot pedal for when you don't want to pump it by hand 24/7 and can reach good jacking points easier than the regular one, especially if your pinch welds are rotted away and you can't use them.

Great review! I've been debating which one to get for a few weeks now. I recommend checking the hydraulic fluid level and then bleeding the hydraulics to get the air out of the system. You'll most likely get a more lift travel with each pump. Air is compressible and no good for hydro systems.

The 4 ton is now the same price as the 3 ton low profile long reach, making the 3 ton low profile long reach the obvious choice. Or better yet, save $60 and just get the 3 ton low profile. Hey Justin, my names Gregg. Just finished watching your video on you deciding to purchase your Harbor Freight 4ton extrem green Daytona floor jack. You ask the question, if we thought you chose the right floor jack. Really just a couple of 3 things that you need to consider when making that decision. #1: Cost How much can you afford to spend on a floor jack? #2: What is your intended use for this new floor jack? Are you going to be working on just your 2 car & that's all? Or are you doing side jobs @ night & on weekends? Or are you taking it to a full blown garage. Also what type vehicles are you going to be lifting (low ground clearance vehicles, pickup truck, 4x4's)? #3: Last but not least, warranty. I could be mistaken but I believe 1yr is the longest warranty any of the Daytona floor jacks have except for the YELLOW Daytona Supper Duty 3ton floor jack which has a 3yr warranty. That's the same jack that Snap-on tried taking them to court on copyright infringement. Snap-on didn't win. Thank you for your channel. Gregg Muse

I bought my current jack almost 40 years ago before there were Harbor Freight stores, from a store that sold imported tools. It's a Chinese heavy duty jack, & just needs new seals. It's done everything ive asked of it over the years. But the identification label is long gone, and finding the right seal kit near impossible. I paid $55, which, adjusted for inflation is around $150. So the 3 ton on sale looks like the best fit for my needs. Nothing I own weighs 8000 lbs. Because they're low profile, a wood block can be usually be added, giving the jack extra lift distance.

It does meet the frame quicker, however because of the lift rate, it is hard to jack up if you are lifting a heavier vehicle. I don’t see that jack offered anything from Harbor Freight. What value could we place on the super-duty? I’m shopping now, and wondering if super duty might translate to better quality (less chance of it breaking down)? Or do floor jacks tend to be trouble free anyway, so super duty would be meaningless outside of a busy shop? One of the things I hate about my old jack is when you try to lower it down onto the jackstands, it always comes crashing down (there is no slow).

Justin Aren't you suppose to purge these before first use. Also doesn't the yellow one have a longer warranty. The reason they're a tad more expensive?

I'm trying to find a jack that's efficient for me also. I have an 02 Trailblazer which I'm going to do a brake job on in the springtime. Years ago I had a jack where if you pump it up one time and it shot up until it hits something solid than jack it up as usual. I think it was called daytona racing jack. I found it at Sam's club. I would love to find something like the ease of that one.

This vid on u tube has the yellow one , He owns a auto shop and after one year of use , looked like it had been beat with a chain for a month straight. He says it gets used all day everyday , any way he proceeds to roll it outside and has a flat bed wrecker parked , he says it weighed 12,000 lbs , He jacks it up and then goes to lunch , comes back after an hour and it didn't budge...That's what I based my decision on , I purchased the same DJ3000 yellow Daytona.....And I love it.

@@SOLDOZER Should someone read it for you.....If you cant figure out that a person who owns the yellow daytona , who also owns a auto shop. posted a vid about the yellow daytona DJ3000...Sound like you're an angry person , might wanna listen to barry manilow instead of James Hetfield's , Lars and Kirks angry lyrics.....Your probably Dave Mustaine , Pissed off that you quit and went to Megadeath...

Someone did a review on a lot of different jacks. Left it under load for a week. The only jacks that didnt move were the yellow and the snapon that HF got sued for.
