I personally really like the Sierra Matchking bullet for handloading. But personally, I think Taylor will make all of the groups perfect because he is the savior doing the lords work.

Smk’s have been golden on both my 6.5 and 308! As for the bergers I’ve only seen them shoot great when hand loaded with custom specs

Yeah that the bergers are hand loading gold for sure

I only use my 6.5 Creedmoor for hunting so I had already settled on the Hornady Precision Hunter ELD-X 143 grain. Took a couple of Whitetail deer with it this past season. I consistently get sub-MOA groups out to 300 yards. I also shot a 4-round, 6 3/8" group (including 1 flyer) at 500 yards. Without that flyer it was a sub-MOA group. My "bench" that day was a card table and it was cold out. Going to do a 1,000 yard shoot in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the testing. I like seeing down-to-earth comparisons like this.

How did you come to the realization that the 140gr ELD's were the best? Maybe i missed something, but you said the Sierra's were best by far consistency wise after you had shot the 140ELD's? I've got some 100 ELD VT's and some 140 Hornady BTHP's I'm looking to do a accuracy test on a 6.5 Savage HC as soon as the ammo shows up. Nice video though. Appreciate you going the distance and trying all these factory rounds. I will never be a re-loader, so this helps us guys quite a bit. As you said, its all about what YOUR rifle likes 🙂

I think it's important to call out that if this is for NRL/PRS anything under 1" is going to have you competitive and having a good time, assuming you can build a good position and have a good press.

Winchester 140 in 6.5 creedmoor were unreal in my lithgow la102 and usually winchester ammo is rubbish as far as i remember. the hornady 140 match were great to.

Norma 143 Bondstrike and Norma 140 Whitetail in all of my 6.5CM 1/2 or better. Next is Sellier & Bellot 140 grain then 131 grain. The reason the Hornady ammo shoots great from one box and crap in another despite being the same ammo is it's likely a different LOT number

Try Defender Ammunition Tipped Game King. It's sub .5moa from a Bear Creek 20" through 100 rounds
@camonly8494 ай бұрын
Bergers are the best imo. The fps is pushing it and 80fps faster than hornady. The standard deviation is also lower and the ammo is more consistent. They use all the best stuff

Bet you would get different results if you shoot this same test again 1-2 weeks apart in different weather. I've come to the conclusion when testing my 6.5 that even though the best powders are supposed to temp stable...my varying MOA performance of great shooting factory ammo is mostly to do with temp sensitivity of the powder on any given day more so than factory manufacturing differences. Meaning .5 MOA+ group differences on any given day "with same lot number ammo"...shooting 1/4-1/2 groups 1 day, then with no changes to gun or ammo it consistently groups at 1/2-1+ MOA a week apart...environmental being the only varying factor. You will see it with hand-loads as well but usually not to the same degree due to better tuning. Great video for guys understanding what you are trying to show, but I know & bet the results would show a different winner shooting at various times due to my own testing. Shoot the same gun / same lot # ammo 1 week apart for 4 weeks and see the results for yourself. NO ammo will shoot the same MOA group sizes over that time period, unless by some miracle your range days are exactly the same.

In my 6.5 Howa it loves the 130 gr American White Tale. .5 inch at 100 to .3 of an inch . Tried the more expensive Hornady Match 147 gr eldx 1.6 inch at 100yrds.

My Howa 6.5 by 55 didn’t like the heavier rounds. I did better with the 130’s as well. I’ve often wondered about whether the twist rate was accurate.

I had half a box of nosler 190ABLR 300wsm and was going to try to duplicate the load and when I was measuring the case base to the ogive and it was all over the place by a lot how can you get constant long range accurace with that and that is what that round is designed for it cost over a hundred bucks for a box of 20 what a rip off..

My friend. 3 shot groups are not statistically significant to show how they will group. Sure you can maybe weed some out that can’t even do a 3 shot well. Let’s see some 10 and 20 round groups. Thanks for making the video
@possum__puncher6 ай бұрын
To an extent I agree. To see how a rifle shoots I like 5 rounds groups, for me 10-20 round groups tell me more about the shooter. We shot several 3 round groups to see how the ammo preformed. I have an upcoming video where we did take the better shooting 3 rounds group ammo and did several 5 and 10 round groups. Coming soon!
@gregrburnett34003 ай бұрын
@@possum__puncher 20 round groups tell you more about your rifle. If you really want to know what your rifle is capable of, shoot a 35 to 40 to 50 round group. Shoot the "group" in 5 round groups and use something like OnTargetTDS to combine them into one virtual group. Watch the Hornady pod cast "Your groups are too small." Really very interesting and explains in excruciating detail WHY the higher round count groups mean/tell you more. Like, "my brain hurts thinking this hard" kind of detail. ;-) OnTargetTDS is just one. The Hornady app can do it too. There are others.
