UPDATE: It's still shooting 2-4MOA with ELDM and CX even after the barrel replacement. Sup dude, I had a very similar experience to yours. I made a few comments in your last video and ended up sending in my Fix for RMA shortly after (Also a 6.5cm 16"). My rifle was doing roughly 3MOA with ELD-M 140's. Customer service was great like you said. They were very responsive and I got my rifle back in about 4 weeks. They attached a cutout of the target that they tested the new barrel with and it was a weird looking "J" shaped group (like someone drew a J with 5 bullet holes), but it was 0.85" nonetheless. Hoping to test it out in a few weeks with more ELDM and possibly CX. Just trying to stay optimistic at this point because I really like the gun but man, that thing was shooting like my 10.3 AR does with the cheapest range ammo.

I bought a Q Fix with a 16” 8.6 Blackout barrel. Accuracy was awful, but it’s a Faxon barrel after all. I got a 20” Proof Research .308 barrel for it. First range trip was beyond aggravating. I’d get 2 or 3 shots touching and then the point of impact would jump an inch or more for the next couple shots. So I took everything apart except for leaving the barrel on the receiver. I was very meticulous with reassembly. I swapped in a different scope and mount. Hallelujah! It prints 0.6” or smaller 5 shot groups at 100 yards with Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain SMKs. I changed too many things at once so I don’t know what the problem was. I don’t like having the top rail screw down to the receiver *and* the handguard. Also, it would be better if the rail wedged into place instead of just the screws locating it. I think that the trigger is awesome. The rifle incorporates some really cool features. However, for $3,300+ there are a LOT of options out there. P.S. Q-Sert is like 8.6 Blackout: a great idea that the company isn’t supporting adequately. Accessories (ammo) are very limited and expensive.

Thanks for posting, setting expectations is an important part of good customer service, and while Q is trying to set a high expectation, it seems like they are having trouble delivering, which is something that is more common than most might like to admit. It's entirely possible the shooting environment Q is testing in (I think they're in NH or something) is wildly different than the hot central midwest, texas, or the desert southwest. Conditions matter. There was a particular rifle company I worked for for a while that would completely choke and fail to function reliably as soon as temperatures dropped below freezing, and it was a rifle designed and tested here in the desert southwest. It sounds like the right thing happened here, and it was a happy ending because everyone was happy.

Got a 16" 6.5 fix a month ago. Took it to the range and put 120 rounds through it with just a red dot waiting on my scope to come in. Got it all put together. Went and bought 6 different quality ammos. Cleaned the barrel super thoroughly. Then took it to the range and fired 10 fouling shots. Let it cool to ambient and started the first 5 shot group. After trying all six ammos i got 6 2" groups. I let the barrel and suppressor cool to ambient between each ammo change. All ammos had a SD of around 10-15 fps out of the rifle. Got frustrated and grabbed my tikka 30-06 out of the truckwith a carbon fiber stock (aka rifle is almost the same weight overall with much more recoil) and shot a 5 shot .75" group off the same set of bags. I have heard that having the short top rail can cause them to group badly. But decided to bring mine home and break it into all the little pieces and reassemble it to tq spec for ever part of the rifle/rails/rings/and scope. We shall see if maybe some unexpected part was not quite tight. But I'm getting the feeling its gonna have to get a non Q barrel and a full top rail to see what happens. Inspected the bore and it looks great, velocities have been recorded for every roumd ive fire through the rifle and are consistent between ammos. But the comment you made "it makes me feel like a bad shooter" really hits home. Although I like the rifle enough to make it work one way or the other.

@possum__puncher very similar experience. Mine would group on average 3 out of 5 in around an inch but there would always be 2 flyers in random places making the average just over a 2" circle. I even had the RSO who is a pretty good shot do a group. His opinion was that it was fun to shoot but ended up with 2" as well. Was thinking of sending mine in till I watched your video. And who knows, maybe I would win the barrel lottery. But I think it will just be easier to buy a precision barrel from someone who only makes barrels if this disassembly reassembly doesn't magically cure my accuracy woes. 🤔 not worth wasting a month of hunting season to save some money when I'm already this deep in between the rifle/optic/ammo/and suppressor.
@Sheeb4thewin28 күн бұрын
Any better luck with your rifle?
@1bobharvey27 күн бұрын
@Sheeb4thewin I ended up just accepting the 2" overall groups and hunting it through the fall since most everything I've killed in the past year was 100 yards or under. The alders are thick here in AK, so shots are either real long or real short. Hence why I wanted the fix. I did tear it completely down and re-torque everything, before hunting season tho. Ended up bringing the overall group size down to a touch over an inch with a huxwprks flow Ti. I have a full-length top rail now to put on and a xl cherry bomb as well as the short chop supressor. The short chop didn't get out of supressor jail in time for most of the hunting I was doing and I didn't want to have to fuss with it when I was using it hunting. So here over the winter when I have time I'll put all that on, give the barrel a full cleaning and start fresh to see if it will get the groups down somewhere under an inch now that it's good and broke in (300 rounds). If not I'll order a 8.6 barrel and send this one back to Q (if they let me) or just get a custom 6.5 barrel made for it. Point is I did squeeze it down a little, it's still shooting 3 great ones per string and 2 odd balls that open it up. I did have the thought it may just be really heat sensitive as they are a thinner profile from Q. I may try doing the next testing letting the barrel cool to ambient ever shot for 10 shots and seeing what it will print. I have a range at the house so if I gave it 30 minutes between shots off the back deck I should get an accurate picture if it's just a heat thing or not. May very well print sub moa cold bore and I just don't know. 😂 but that's probably wishful thinking

I liked this rifle so much I tried it twice, haha. Tried it with a Proof barrel even. I sold both of them. My conclusion: it is technically capable of accuracy, the problem is the stock. It is so skinny that it is difficult to use consistently. It looks and feels cool at the counter, but trust me it is really problematic when shooting. Also this rifle has a weird recoil impulse for some reason. In the end, I think the ergos make the Fix impossibly difficult to consistently shoot well. I think Q makes neat stuff that is interesting and reaches a broad appeal. I think Q’s marketing is clever and not deceptive and reaches a customer base beyond hardcore prs shooters. It is good to hear that their customer service is diligent and prompt and willing to go all the way to fix problems. However, what does make me think twice about getting a Fix, especially when Q is offering can promos, is KB’s online presence. He reminds me a lot of how John Willis of SOE Gear acts online. It’s annoying and at times seems petty to the point of vindictiveness and wholly unnecessary when the product should speak for itself.

That was well thought out.
@BBSPV5 ай бұрын
@@possum__puncher it’s one thing if Q products were objectively better than everyone else’s. You could make an argument that some of the things they do are better, but not by much. Also take a look the new muzzle device Q launched and why it was launched. Some of the things said in that launch video are wholly unnecessary. Q is trying to build an ecosystem of products and that’s laudable, but the way they, KB especially, take criticism gives me pause. And the wild part is that I still want and will probably buy a Mini Fix some time in the near future just bc it’s neat, but I’m realistic to believe it’s not a precision shooter.

It averages < 0.5 MOA for 5-shot groups with just about every bullet I've tried in it. The fact you never hear about them is insane IMHO.
