15:30 You can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is where I would break the general gameplan and drop Petilil on the board here, because if they evolve into Aerodactyl and flip heads you immediately lose. With Petilil on the board at least Liligant can give them a fight afterwards. They don't have anything on their board that would Sabrina one shot Petilil anyways, unless they pull off a surprise 2 heads flip Kangaskhan out of nowhere, which is much less likely than them already having Aerodactyl in their hand.

Iplay melmetal with butterfree, if you pull 2 butterfree on bench thata crazy,but the 3 metal energy make the deck brick sometimes, if only he need 2 metal it would be more consistent

Adding Kangaskan is actually a great idea. As a huge fan of the Venusaur line (Bulbasaur has always been my favorite Pokemon), I obviously immediately started with a Venusaur deck (I was pretty lucky and got 4 Venusaur EX in maybe my first 6 packs). So far I have to decks with him that I quite like: Number One: A version similar to the one you have shown, but with Farfetch‘d instead of Kangaskan. Number Two: A deck with only Venusaur EX and Caterpie. I lately used the second one more often (I feel like I‘m just more successful with it), but I think I‘ll try the one with Kangaskan.

This was the version of venusaur I made, I also was trying a venusaur/ koga wheezing build as the venusaur line only needs 1 or 2 grass to use their attacks. Also having koga/wheezing makes the fire matchups better as your front line till you get venusaur doesn't fold to weakness

I am running a very similar deck, except i am running two Exeggutor EX instead of the liligant, because Exeggutor provides a very strong early game with only 1 energy. Usually exeggutor can survive a lot of hits and swing in for 80 dmg if you get the coin flip, and by the time he falls, venusaur is usually online by that time. I don't have a Kangaskhan so I run 1 potion, two erikas and two speeds to swap out exuggutor when venusaur is ready.

Not bad but after having tried all Venusaur variants, my favorite one is the one with Butterfree. You just need 2x Caterpie, 1x Metapod and 1x Butterfree. Caterpie is a great accelerator because most of the times you lose when you can't find the Venusaur line fast enough and you start evolving too late. Butterfree is just a free potion for everyone every turn. It wins you 99% endgames, even against Venusaur mirror decks. If you need more Sabrina insurance or decoys, just run a fossil.

I don't like Liligant in this deck because you need to waste 2 energy on it to get 1 energy back to Venusaur. Why not just use Exeggutor or Exeggutor EX since it has high bulk, works with Erika, and has 1 energy requirement? This works better when playing first. You can then just give the 2nd energy you would have given to Liligant to Venusaur EX instead. It's basically the same thing, but you started off with a stronger Pokemon in the lead. Also, Liligant only works well when playing 2nd, but you already have the energy advantage so trying to roll even harder is just a waste of time. Exeggutor EX still adds more pressure here too. And, you may as well play 2 ex cards because you're going right into Venusaur anyway and if they knock that out, you lose either way. Kangaskhan is fine too, but Exeggutor EX is the superior card since you're already in a grass deck. 23:21 - This timestamp says it all. It's why Liligant needs to be cut.

Exeggutor EX is far too big of a risk since it gives the opponent 2 points when they knock it out and this deck relies heavily on letting the mons in front get knocked out to buy time for Venosaur EX. Regular Exeggutor might not be too bad, though. As for Lilligant only being a 2 for 1 with energy, that's not exactly true. If you can get Lilligant set up early enough, it's usually at least a 2 for 2, if not 2 for 3 energy for Venorsaur. All the while, it still gets to do 50 damage a hit and tank a couple hits while you set up Venosaur. Worst case scenario, you don't add any energy to Lilligant and just let it tank hits alongside Kanga. Doing any damage before you get Venorsaur EX ramped up is completely superfluous and just a nice bonus. The hardest part with the Venosaur EX deck is the same issue with any Stage 2 pokemon, and that's just getting all the cards together to fully evolve it. Once you have Venosaur EX up and going with a minimum of 3 energy, it is unstoppable by anything other than Charizard EX or taking all four hits from Dragonite's Draco Meteor. Edit: Also, while running regular Exeggutor may be viable, too, Petlil is just a bit tankier at 60 compared to Exeggcute's 50. And that can be the difference between being one shot and from surviving to evolve or heal.

Lost 12 games in a row using this deck which is probably the hardest losestrike I ever had in any cardgame I ever played. Pretty insane. Altough draws were crappy, sabrina recks me, every opponent drew well. Maybe just bad luck, i don't know.

I've been running this list without Kanga, just 2 petlil/lilligant and 2 bulbasaur lines. Having room for an X speed is nice if you don't get petlil turn 1, can just swap your bulba to the bench for free to fix bad turn 1 draws.

In defense of the eggexcutor Venusaur deck, if it’s Sabrina you’re worried about, why not use fossils? They’re amazing pivots that don’t count as a basic pokemon to help consistency and have free retreat and discard. I feel like they’re almost mandatory for decks focused around stage 2 pokemon.

The disadvantage of liligant is if it only gets one attack you're down in energy economy, and it you can't fuel it as fast as other options that only need 1 energy, reducing temp if they get an early kill

Yes, and this deck absolutely doesn't work against the fire meta Blaine Ninetails deck. The match up is like 1 : 99 where the only one time venu ex deck win is due to opponent keep drawing wrong cards. But if opponent doesn't draw wrong cards, in two turns opponent will start board sweep and there nothing venu ex deck can do.

You're not wrong about Golbat. Slapping Mewtwo for 60 damage on turn 2 for 1 energy is amazing. He has enough HP to survive Mewtwo's psychic sphere even if it's boosted by Giovanni. The 1 energy Golbat needs is also colorless, meaning you can splash him into any deck and there's no risk of RNG with your energy. Severely underrated card.

Its never recomended to bring a 3rd basico pokemon even if its for cover, you will have a lot of issues since you have a stage 2 and a stage 1 needed for the set, Pokeball will give you a card that you probably dont need and professor too, it's just a easy prize for the opponent and it does not help with the sinergy IMO

Mog have you considered running fossils in the exeggutor venusaur list. They can be played down to protect your bulbasaur while you charge up and discarded to help get your exeggutor back into play

This deck is so much fun. Nothing beats a sad concede from a Mewtwo player that, after dealing 150 damage, sees Venusaur recovering 120 HP in a turn XD (Erika + 2 Potions + Giant Bloom)

So, just a thought my guy. Caterpie could basically be a turbo for the bulbasaur evo line. I seem to have no issues getting enough energy on my venosaur ex. It's always the struggle to complete the evolution line before my opponent can set up. Caterpie could resolve this issue 🤔

ditto is trash, its only 'viable' in a tourney setting with open decklist, playing ditto outside tourney is essentially just trying to snipe specific deck since u need the same energy color for ditto to actually attack

I play his deck switching Kang for 1 caterpie. It's basically one more chance to get the correct evolutions. It wont matter how much I can stall if my 2 Ivysaurs are in the bottom of the deck

Alright, check it out, play a fossil in the deck to play around early/midgame Sabrina and discard it once it’s severed its purpose so it can’t get Sabrina in at the end.

This tech works for a few stage 2 decks, like Charizard! But it's not good for Venusaur since you need to stall as much as possible for his Giant Bloom attack, fossils are too low health. Most games we tank as much as we can with our 2 regular pokemon (kanga + lilligant) and then bring in Venusaur to sweep!
