I’m Italian and phrasal verbs are engaging for me because their morphology doesn’t suggest me any kind of meaning concerned with my mother tongue . Most synonyms of phrasal verbs come from Latin and so very familiar to me; nevertheless I realize that I can’t be fluent in English if I don’t use phrasal verbs because they are very “anglosaxon” words and they are uttered ordinarily by native speakers.

Thanks for your explanations. What confuses me the most, is that as many phrasal verbs are formed adding prepositions, when to be sure the preposition is part of a phrasal verb or just a preposition? I’m Spanish, and as a student in a college in the US, I was glad to hear that phrasal verbs are not “acepted “ in Essays and Academic papers. But the truth is, without understanding them is difficult to follow conversations in English.:))
@EnglishCoach3Ts Жыл бұрын
In the United States phrasal verbs are often used in academic writing depending on where attend classes. If the verb and the preposition together have a different meaning, that is a phrasal verb.
