I like the harmony triple, the high notes do seem to taper off where the 3rd chamber is only a little more than the second, but its an ocarina so it's still fortisimo on those really high notes

I've got a Night by Noble that I got thanks to your recommendation! I prefer having that concave breath pressure curve because it kind of evens out the high notes and makes them bearable for me. I've still got a ways to go before I can learn it well and produce a nice sound, but it's still miles away from the out-of-tune Amazon ocarina I got as my first one.

Try getting your hands on a 'Pure Ocarina', those are amazing.

One of my problems is that I play in the car, so that means I'm in a really tight space and those high notes can get extremely loud if you blow as hard as you need to. I can do it, but I prefer not to in that case. I really can't wait until the spring and summer months. I plan to take my ocarina up in the woods and play where I won't bother anyone. I know the Kokiri Edition as a general rule requires little breath pressure as the lowest notes, you just barely need to blow any air into it for the lowest notes and you'll still hear something from it. I'm tempted to place it in front of a fan and see if it'll still make a sound. 😂

WHERE do you get this Miracle M? I searched for weeks now, but nothing. Do you have a contact to the creators? I really so want this, but it's like nowhere to be found. :(

I have a knock off of the Night by Noble (same quirks, different color and lower price) and as it wasn't my first go with wind instruments (experience Bb clarinet player and dabbled in recorder) the concave curve is kind of intuitive for me. I would love to see a flat curve on a wind instrument.

Hey @AndyCormierYT I love your videos and I have commented the same thing in your past videos (Which is a mistake on my part, because I should've commented on your most recent ones first) I just wanted to ask, where would you recommend me to buy a Ceramic 12 hole Ocarina, I am ordering the Night By Noble right now but I would love to have a Ceramic one too

I play Thomann AC Double Ocarina Regular (stein/focalink). Cost me 122€. I think it's a linear breath curve. Quite intuitive to play. I still need to practice the lowest 2 notes because it takes so little air to play them.

One thing I forgot to touch on is breath curves between chambers on multi-chamber ocarinas! Intuitive curves that make chamber switching natural is also important

Hello, I purchased the night by noble following your beginner recommendations. I think the sound is good enough but it is difficult to hit the higher notes due to weak breath pressure. Do you have any other beginner recommendations for a "gentler" breath pressure? Thank you very much

I'd recommend pretty much any of the plastic ACs available from songbird or focalink/stein. Songbird is cheaper if you're just getting one (use code ANDY10), but focalink/stein is cheaper for 2-3+ ocarinas in a single purchase for the same instrument (Songbird distributes focalink/stein plastic ocarinas). Otherwise, if it's available, the MiracleM plastic on Amazon is the best bang for buck beginner plastic AC. That said, it's rarely available

ANDY I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO BUT IT IS IMPORTANT: The link you provided to the STL ocarina (in your OoT video) leads to a really cheap amazon link that looks exactly like the listing on STL itself, even though it is from a different company. I ordered it thinking I found a super special sale given that the reviews talked about the price but it being a really good ocarina, and when it arrived today it was one of those cheap ocarinas with the hand stand. The hand stand was missing, but it was on the box and had a hole for it in the box, but it was absent. I just wanted to let you know so you can see if it is a cheap bad ocarina or not. I have played it and think I'm just really bad, but I will try and see how close the notes are to true.

If it has that awful photo of link and sheik on the box, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I love your videos brother. So I’m looking at a Ceramic night by noble running at 160 clams. Now my instincts say “that’s gonna be an amazing instrument “ but I have to know if Andy likes it first . Can you help?

I've never gotten a ceramic noble, but we used one in Ocabanda for a long time. In all likelihood, a ceramic noble will be a superb instrument! I personally can't justify spending on one now, though

@@AndyCormierYT thanks Andy I bought it. And I’m waiting on the mail. It’s the Alto C matte black ceramic model of the night by noble it may even be clay. It’s hard to tell with all Japanese writing but I think it will be my prize possession , as soon as I get good with it 😅 I’ll stick to my plastic till I’m worthy.

Great video. But what you called "concave" should really be called convex since we are talking breath curve not vacuum curve. And breath pressure is the area under the curve. Therefor, relative to breath, the curve is convex.
@AndyCormierYT
@AndyCormierYT 4 ай бұрын
Would disagree on "area under the curve," since it's strictly the X coordinate of note to Y coordinate of breath, not the total integral of the equation. I think concave vs. convex is a bit up for debate depending on perspective, but I think you might be right saying convex is more accurate

Hello, I am writing as someone who has never played an ocarina before İ really liked the design of the Black Rose Ocarina but is it suitable for beginners? İf it doesn't Which one should i buy as a beginner Miracle M Ocarina or Porcelian Zregek Ocarina or Black Rose AC or Night by Nobel or do you have any other suggestions?
