I am glad that you mentioned the veterinary costs here in CR. It is significantly cheaper here. When I first took my dog to the vet (as a walk in on a Saturday) she got a new patient exam, three shots, a pill, and her nails trimmed for $60 total. At her old vet in the US, the exam alone would've been about $75.

Compared to Canada it is less expensive. We paying around 40% in taxes. And our housing costs are 3x more than the US. We were in Costa Rica in Jan. And coming back in November farther south this time and need to see a different season. We are used to rain we live in Vancouver. We will make 2 more trips next year before making the big decision On our 3d trip may want to connect in person with you two

My biggest issue is that as a nurse in the states, I’m trying to figure out how to produce enough income to live in Costa Rica. I have my CELTA, and it’s possible I could do remote telehealth nursing. I don’t think I can do nursing IN Costa Rica.

I think you are correct. Getting a work permit implies you have skills that no Costa Rican has. So that may be a challenge. I know a few medical staff that work as traveling personnel and then have Costa Rica as their home base when not on the road. That might be an option to explore.
