You are incorrect you just have the children of Hagar fighting the children of Hagar . Those who believe in Jesus the Messiah are the children of Sarah we do not fight because we seek a heavenly Kingdom, Jesus said my kingdom is not of this world. Galatians 4:21-31 King James Version 21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. 28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. 30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. 31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Just for clarity, there were 12 sons (tribes) that descend from Jacob/Israel. Judah was the 4th son and this is where the term "Jew" comes from. This tribe/son is often referred to as the royal tribe. Biblical characters such has David, Solomon, and Jesus come from this tribe. Being from either of the 12 tribes/sons makes you an Israelite, not a Jew. It would have been nice for her use scripture to support her thoughts because some of the information was INCORRECT but we will take anything for face value as long as it benefits us.

The answer to the QUESTION “Who is a Jew” IS confusing ! Religious Jew ~ Judaism OR Geographical Jew ~ Judea OR Genetic Jew ~ Judah IF one is a descendant of Jacob, THEN one is an ISRAELITE. “Israelite” is correct. “Jew” isn’t. In 1700s is when the word “Jew” emerged. WHY ?
@ShirleyAnnPetrillo-oj7sc Жыл бұрын
More QUESTIONS: You said “Religiously Ishmael = Islam” Genetically, is Ishmael & his descendants “Hebrews” aka Pre-Israelite? How would DNA Ethnicity Test results for Ishmael’s descendants show up (be described/labeled)? You said “Esau = Christianity” How would Esau’s descendants be reported on a DNA test? The Promised Land of Milk and Honey is Canaan, right ? All Canaanites were supposed to be killed, but weren’t, right? King Ahab (Israelite) married Princess Jezebel (Canaanite), but shouldn’t have, right? Some Canaanites “Phoenicians” had Mediterranean Colonies including Carthage, right? Were any, some or all of these colonizers genetically Israelites from the land/location of Canaan?

@@faemewmi I'm glad you know that West Asian isn't specifically indicative of Israel (Since Khazaria's converts had non-Israelite, West Asian ancestry; Turkic.) Zionism makes a lot of claims based on its supposed Jewish heritage, and are using it subvert Christianity into supporting its policies based on that claim. So, it's very important for me that we know that you're pretenders. I don't have anything personal against "Jews" as a people, but you aren't who you say you are, and that's a fact. A careful reading of Hosea tells us that the 10 tribes are "The House of Israel", while "The House of Judah" is the territory of Judah, Benjamin, Levites, etc., who were not taken by the Assyrians and eventually scattered out into the world. Subsequent writings refer to "The Whole House Of Israel" when talking about the entire 12/13 tribes at the same time. The House of Israel, or "Ephraim" (Hosea is ALL about the 10 tribes) are prophesied to eventually be brought to repentance and restoration with Elohim in the last days, and that His own hand will bring some back home to the restored nation - "one of a village and 2 of a family", as well. The Two Sticks of "Ephraim" and "Judah" will be (and I feel are being) united into one. I feel that it is the life, death and resurrection of that "Lamb of YHVH" - Yehoshua (Jesus) - represented to Abraham via the ram stuck in the bushes to provide the sacrifice in place of his son - who has made and is making all of this POSSIBLE, as He took all of our sin upon Himself and paid for it with His own blood. The most beautiful, deep and romantic story ever told &; > THANK YOU for such a beautiful telling and illustration of the story. Blessings.

This is a no-brainer question... ALL believers who read the Bible knew that they are the descendants of Abraham thru Isaac and Jacob and God made a Covenant with Abraham thru his Descendants... God changed Abraham's grandson, Jacob's name into ISRAEL... then, God took them away from Slavery in Egypt and led them to the Promise Land thru their EXODUS... God created the First United Kingdom for the People of Jacob/Israel (Israelites) and put King Saul as their first King, followed by King David... The Kindom was SPLIT into 2 due to the Sin of King David, the NORTHERN Kingdom retained the original name ISRAEL and the people were still called Israelites, while the SOUTHERN Kingdom was called JUDAH, taken from the tribes of Jacob's 4th Son to Leah, named Judah, their people were called JEWS (derived from the name Judah)... to distinguish themselves from the People of the North still called Israelites... When the Babylonian Empire came, the Northern Kingdom of Israel was conquered and Solomon's Temple was destroyed, leaving the Kingdom of Judah in the South unconquered... thus, the People in the Kingdom of Judah called their Faith/Religion in God, JUDAISM ... while the People were called JEWS, to separate themselves from the People of the Northern Kingdom called ISRAELITES that was taken/exiled to Babylon including Prophet Daniel, even though they are all Israelites from the beginning... In conclusion, the ISRAELITES from the Northern Kingdom of Israel were the ones that were taken/exiled to Babylon together with Prophet Daniel and not the People of the Northern Kingdom of Judah called the JEWS... Facts and Truth, Biblically and Logically speaking... Amen.

Reading the bible in English is problematic because through translation someone gave it an interpretation and with this interpretation you lose a lot of the meaning in the bible, one example might be the parallel language use when God ask Abraham to leave his home and to sacrifice his son. God knows that if he ask directly to leave everything you know or to kill your son Abraham will not accept, so when he ask Abraham he uses a specific technique. He starts with the easiest request to fulfill, "לך לך מארצך" leave your country, then he ask to leave his מולדת meaning his nation of birth then the final grandiose request- leave your family, a very hard request to fulfill in the treble society he lived in. God use the exact same technique when he asks him to sacrifice his son, he starts with the ambiguous term, take your son, then he says your only son then the the only son you love then finally he calls him יצחק. Then God finish the sentence with the exact same phrase he started the request to leave everything you know לך לך

Good question cause when you ask somebody who is one they tell you they’re Jewish but when somebody asks anyone else what they are they give you a country. Obviously I’m German and I live in the States so I get asked quite often what I am? I think if I replied Catholic people would specify there question and think it was odd that I answered that way. However, if you’re Jewish that’s an acceptable answer? It’s a religion correct? Not a race or place of origin? It is a bit weird
@ShirleyAnnPetrillo-oj7sc Жыл бұрын
👆 It IS a bit weird. I remain a bit confused, because “Jewish” can mean: 1) Religious Jew 2) Genetic Jew (ethnicity/race) 3) Geographic Jew (location of ancestors) Therefore, IF someone tells me “I’m a Jew”, then I’ll ask questions.
@rheinhardtgrafvonthiesenha8185 Жыл бұрын
@@ShirleyAnnPetrillo-oj7sc it’s a conundrum I e never been able to figure out and really want to know the answer to. But obviously nowadays you feel like you can’t ask these questions even if they’re out of genuine curiosity yanno. On the one hand I think it is used as a „catch all“ by most Jews and if I were Jewish I’d want to know my ancestry or ethnicity. After all being Jewish is a religion. There’s Russian Jews, Israeli Jews etc etc. Does saying you’re „Jewish“ imply that at some point your descendants came from one of the 12 tribes of Israel? I don’t know? The thing that further compounds it tho (which actually blows away my whole argument) is jews do have some basic shared physical characteristics. In other words it’s not that hard and you could reasonably guess with a fair bit of accuracy if somebody is a jew based on some physical characteristics. Which is not the case with other religions. So that would imply it is a race more so than a religion. IDK the answer but I wish somebody would explain it to me.

Very helpful survey. Witty. I wondered however, how Esau became linked with fostering and adopting the formation of Christianity via the Roman Empire. What's the rabbinic tradition for this? Is it historically accurate? Thanks for your many helpful productions.
@UNPACKED4 жыл бұрын
Here's what Noam Weissman, our educational director had to say: It's a great one. So much on this topic. 1. Rashi is actually incredibly important in terms of promulgating this idea, which is based on Bereishit rabba, 63:7. 2. The story is much deeper and more complicated. This article explains it all well -www.thetorah.com/article/esau-the-ancestor-of-rome 3. Overall gist though is that Eisav became synonymous with Edom, Edom was described in rabbinic tradition as Rome and Christianity became dominant religion there. 4. See here from Avigail Rock: "In a number of places, Rashi identifies Esav and Edom with Rome (that is, the Romans). The Jews of Europe in the Middle Ages would identify Rome with Christianity and the (Roman) Catholic Church; therefore, prophecies in the Bible which speak about Esav and Edom were understood by them as relating to Christianity, as were the references of the Sages to Esav, Edom, or Rome." See G.D. Cohen, “Esau as Symbol in Early Medieval Thought,” Alexander Altmann (ed.), Jewish Medieval and Renaissance Studies (Cambridge, 1967). See also the course offered by the Open University of Israel, “Bein Yehudim Le-Notzerim: Yehudim Ve-Notzerim Be-Ma’arav Europa ad Reishit Ha-Et Ha-Chadasha,” Prof. Ora Limor (1993-1997), Vol. I, pp. 9-15 in particular -www.openu.ac.il/courses/10275.htm

"See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. For you know that afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears." ............ I think this is a more historically accurate description of Esau - an influence and example to be avoided and accords fully with that given in the first book of the Torah.

It Rabbinic "anti-Christian" teaching. Judaism since the collating the Talmud, is well and truly Rabbinic Judaism ... and developed from the Pharisee sect of Judaism which Jesus was a Rabbi of, and who rejected him. Most religious Jews view Jesus as a false messiah and a Catholic god. Do the maths.

I think Abraham thought he was supposed to sacrifice.. this is when God said no, I want mercy not sacrifice… So Abraham continues to sacrifice (but no longer people) and so does his decedents… Jesus comes and gives them himself as the only sacrifice everyone will ever need, so we could finally stop feeling like we are not in Gods grace… But then his followers continue to sacrifice 10% of their income and many other penances. It didn't. In the video, she said it's a story from the Mishnah, which is a RABBINICAL commentary on the Talmud, which is a RABBINICAL commentary on the Tenach, which contains the Torah, where the story of the Patriarchs is found. The reason why the rabbis spread this lie is because the Mosaic Law was fulfilled by Yeshua (Jesus). Therefore, to keep their power, the rabbis lied about how Christianity began. In fact, in the beginning of The Faith, it wasn't called Christianity because Cristos is a GREEK word. It was simply referred to as The Way because Yeshua said, "I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No man approaches Adonai (the Father), but by Me." To this very day, rabbis have an overwhelming tendency to want to be that intermediary, that's why they continue to veil the truth about Yeshua, His sacrifice, and His resurrection. But the truth is there for anyone to see (Isaiah 53).

Interesting and informing take, I appreciated and I learned from this. However I take three issues with this; 1. I feel like you gave Abraham a hagiography (idealized life) when the Torah does not. Sarai was allowed to be kidnapped because Abraham was too cowardly and lied that she was his sister twice. 2. You did not mention the covenant ceremony that YHWH and Abraham performed in Genesis 15. YHWH walked between the dead animals alone while Abram slept, signifying that he would keep the covenant even if Abram did not, and He alone would face the penalty of being cut like the animals if one of the party members would break it. 3. The main character of the Bible is not the Jews, it's God. God demonstrates his greatness by taking a lesser people like the Jews, and blessing them greatly. Deuteronomy 7:7 - "YHWH did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the least of all peoples."
@a.fonz.95224 жыл бұрын
I "take issue" with your comments. While the video also has numerous issues for sure, 1. You would do the same thing. If he hadn't lied he probably would not have lived. I'm sure Sarai was in agreement. Get off your comfy sofa and into real life in 2000 bce. 2. Huh ?? 3. That verse is totally referring to amount of people. Just like it says. It has nothing to do with lesser. Wtf ????? Nobody is lesser or better. Jews are Chosen to deliver Gds light to the world as a result of our agreeing to live by the Torah. We are not better and we were never lesser. Same for all peoples.
@markm56074 жыл бұрын
@@a.fonz.9522 Didn't see a response. I'll try to respond. 1. My intention is not to suggest I would be any better. Who knows, probably I'd lie too. The purpose of this critique was simply to note Abraham was flawed, as flawed as any human was, like myself. Moreover, I think he would lived if he told the truth. In Genesis 15:1 Gd says he will be Abraham's shield. Yet even with this promise he says the same lie to Abimelek in Genesis 20. 2. It's a covenant ceremony that it occurs in Genesis 15, you can google it. I think it's a key of the story; it demonstrates Gd will be the hero of the story. 3. This is a very fair critique here. It's true Gd means least in numerical terms. But I still maintain because Israel was numerically lesser it was seen to be a people group lesser. The reason I write what I write, is to point out the Old Testament does not portray Israel in a positive light, not to say Israel is a lesser nation, for if any other nation was in Israel's place they would commit the same mistakes. But to demonstrate God endures with loving faithful kindness to his people, despite their unfaithfulness. Israel was not able to keep the Torah. Nor is anyone perfectly. But the Messiah came and kept the law perfectly, and died the death penalty in our place. So we may we right with Gd again.

@@markm5607 Was there in anywhere in the old testament jews or jewish, used for Abraham or Jacob family tree? That's for all people that keep calling the Israelites jew or jewish. In the Bible the patriarch Abraham is referred to a single time as the ivri, which is the singular form of the Hebrew-language word for Hebrew (plural ivrim, or ibrim). In Genesis 14:13, Abraham is described as Avram Ha-Ivri ("Abram the Hebrew"), and which translates literally as "Abram the one who stands on the other side." Israelites are defined as the descendants of Jacob, son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham. Then an escapee came and reported this to Abram the (Hebrew). The word 'Jew' originates with the ancient Israelites kingdom of Yudah, Yehudah, in the Hebrew. But the jew in meaning is a matter of great controversy. Corinthians 15:3-5 refers to two mythologies: the Greek myth. In common speech, the word "Jew" is used to refer to all of the physical and spiritual descendants of Jacob/Israel, as well as to the patriarchs Abraham and Isaac and their wives, and the word "Judaism" is used to refer to their beliefs. Technically, this usage is inaccurate, just as it is technically inaccurate to use the word "Indian" to refer to the original inhabitants of the Americas. However, this technically inaccurate usage is common both within the Jewish community and outside of it, and is therefore used improperly. Eskenazi is a toponymic surname found among Sephardic Jews and their descendants. It is the Ladino (Judaeo-Spanish) pronunciation of "Ashkenazi", Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jews represent two distinct subcultures of Judaism. (plural) are derived from the Hebrew word "Ashkenaz," which is used to refer to Germany. Most American Jews today are Ashkenazim, descended from Jews who emigrated from. The word "Mizrachi" comes from the Hebrew word for Eastern. “Ashkenaz” in Hebrew refers to Germany, and Ashkenazi Jews are those who originated in Eastern Europe. (Sephardic Jews, by contrast, are from the areas around the Mediterranean Sea, including Portugal, Spain, the Middle East and Northern Africa.)

Great videos. On this one tho, there are many who slightly differ in their view of who's the father of the Jews. Many including some Jews believe it begins with primarily Jacob's son Judah, and Benjamin too. Those are the patriarchs of the tribes that would later form the Kingdom of Judah, and eventually called Judea in post Babylon exile, 2nd Temple period. Conversely, Jacob prophesied over Joseph's sons that they would become the "multitude of nations". Belief held is these multitides are not Jews. Summary, while all Jews are Isrealites not all Israelites are Jews. 🤔

I think the confusion arises when people fail to realize the kingdom of Judah was made up of many from the other tribes who moved to the area of Judah when Israel was split. So while Jew may refer to those from Judah the nation, it includes people from all the tribes that wanted to remain faithful and moved south to Judah the territory where the temple was.
