I dont think that you fully understand those Agreements,Russia was not party to any if them..they were mediated by France and Germany with Russia in an observer role...so I dont understand what you mean when you say both sides didnt honor them...the breakaway regions had really no part to play except to fight back when Ukraine kept attacking them in violation of their commitment.

Ukraine was the aggressor in that civil war. Ukraine violated the cease fire. Donetsk and Luhansk is the smaller Republics it wasn't a fair fight. So now that Russia stepped in to help the NATO countries loose their $h@+

?? They are not republics, first of all, but regions of Ukraine (there are like 24 of those). And when terrorists (from rusia, backed by rusia, holders of russian passports, etc.) tried to seize government buildings and military objects the anti-terrorist operation started to regain control over the border... And when all of those terrorists was almost shot down, rusia crossed the border with tanks and artillery... That was the beginning of war with huge loses... There is no civil war, but a hybrid war of rusia war against Ukraine.
