Great to see you tackle this controversial subject. Excellent! I have said the same forever: one major reason we get sick in the winter is due to lack of sun exposure. Everyone feels better in the sun on the beach in bare feet and while "earthing." The sun is free. So there will be NO official studies on how it positively affects your health. The anti-sun sunscreen industry is worth billions. They have created mass hysteria about sun exposure. People are dosing their bodies with chemical sunscreens and in constant fear of skin cancer! Follow the money trail. Your advice about UVB rays and exposure is the EXACT opposite of the "experts." (Remember: Always listen to the experts... then do the opposite. Lol.) Just remember to put mineral sunscreen on the hands and face for anti-aging.

well it all about the uv index. the high the uv index the higher the risker of melanoma. In new Zealand they even though not near equator the experience uv index of 14. they also have high Melanoma rates. Also their threshold level which if uv under that you will experience almost no damage. Only problem no one know where that threshold is for each skin type.

I'm tired of Dermatologist being so over dramatic about avoiding the sun, i fell for it. I tanned from 15-25, i stopped 25-28 because of Dr. Dray. She would make video's about how bad it was. My skin got so pale and you can see every hair dot even when I shaved. I started outside tanning again and my skin looks sooooo good. For some reason the sun makes the hair dots go away completely and my skin looks better. We all die at some point. Young & old. Live life as you choose.

I think that being up north here the sun is always harsh. We do not get a 'high noon' because we never have direct sun. Medical associations and trade groups are there to promote stuffs that serve their interest. Do I consider them experts? You bet. Do I think they put my health interest ahead of their organizational interest? Not a bit. They just very narrowly focus on skin cancer (as they're specialists) and usually willfully blind to other health issues with public excuses like "Not my job as dermatologist to comment on other health issues". As to sun exposure and associated health risk/benefit, please do yourself a favor and read up a very nice paper on journal Dermatoendocrinology titled "Sunlight and Vitamin D" by Whacker and Holick. If you read it you'll realize outside "special interest group", often filled with industry lobbyists and lawyers, the real doctors and scientists can talk facts and truth - many of which are distorted or ignored by these special interest groups. BTW, the paper above basically confirms what the video says with data.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ This guy is not a dermatologist, he’s a chiropractor. He is not trained or qualified to talk on this and doesn’t know what he’s on about, or else he’s deliberately spreading disinformation. Shorter wavelengths are more damaging, therefore UVB significantly promotes skin cancers; most skin cancers are caused by UVB. However, shorter wavelengths don’t penetrate as deep into the skin as longer wavelengths do, meaning UVB only affects the top layer of skin. On the other hand, UVA is less damaging but penetrates deeper into the skin. So UVA can still also enhance the development of skin cancers, and when it does, the cancer could be deeper in the skin. Regarding tanning, UVB is not responsible for the immediate tanning effect that people expect, that’s all UVA; UVB contributes to delayed tanning whereby darkening of the skin happens over the next few days; i.e. you get darker ≈3 days later. *TL;DR both UVA and UVB can cause cancer. UVA is what makes you tan straight away and UVB is more likely to give you skin cancer. So avoid 10am-2pm. Opposite of what this guy said

10 to 2 is bullshit!!! It's 11 to 3 because we're on daylight savings time during the summer so solar noon is at 1 PM, not 12 (that's in the winter). And that's in the eastern part of the time zone you're in (e.g. NYC). In the western part of the time zone it's 1:30 or close to 2. I tan in the sun from 11 or 11:30 till about 3:30 or 4 in the NY metro area beaches. Of course, I'm Greek and tan very well and I always go for the peak tanning hours. My real name is NOT Cecil Wallingford!!! God forbid it were!!! I'm not some pasty skinned Anglo-saxon or Anglo - Celtic küńt!!!
