I'm expecting human / dinosaur hybrids, and the tissue samples they need aren't for a "miracle health breakthrough," but so they can make the strongest hybrids yet, from the three biggest, scariest dinos. Not that I want that, but it's what I'm expecting, especially with the name Rebirth, and the increased focus on cloning, the ethics of genetic manipulation, and the abuse of genetic power the series has focused on a lot, of late, and a decreased focus on the actual dinosaurs for their own sake.

If it is the DX-virus that could explain why our protagonists are going after the 3 largest species. Perhaps the accelerated growth hormone placed in by ingen making creatures like the mosa and quetzal so kaiju sized has also provided them with some sort of immunity to the virus. This would be why our protagonists need to get their blood samples and why their working for a large pharmaceutical company who wants to sell the cure for profit. (If this isn't right universal need to hire me for the next script lol)

Im hearing a lot of people say this and I could really see this happening, it is David koepp's script after all. I think it's a good Idea, DX could be a secret last resort contingency that was finally activated after years of trying post-dominion to keep dinosaur populations isolated to remote tropical environments where they wouldn't interact with many humans.

With the fate of humanity hanging by a thread the main characters now must extract the samples from the three massive animals so a cure can be created. But what kind of a conflict will they have to endure angainst other characters who may not be at the same wavelength in terms of noble intent?

Listening to the theories make me think that a plot with Ingen leaving their first dinosaurs free with the native people to see if they could live with them in a natural ecosystem sounds curious. Imagine that the natives thought that dinosaurs were some ancient creatures send by gods and they did sacrifices and that kind of stuff. After seeing that dinosaurs were kind of living a "peaceful" life with the indigenous people they decided to spread some virus with their first gen dinosaurs so they could kill the people there and also die after some time ... Nice video btw ^^

I think the secret is just new dinosaurs that were so dangerous that InGen didn’t include them in the park. Now, if it were me, I would make it a dinosaur that is NOT known from the fossil record. InGen has had crazy luck finding dinos already known from fossils even though we will never know about the vast majority of dinosaurs because they never left behind fossils. What if they found a dinosaur species for which we had no fossils? I would make it something entirely unexpected, like a dinosaur approaching human intelligence, with the ability to use tools and make art, but very predatory. Something that was on the evolutionary path to become the dominant intelligent species-like humans-but was snuffed out before it had the chance. Basically the dinosaur equivalent of Neanderthals, perhaps with the ability to train other dinosaurs to aid in their hunts. Yeah, super nutty idea, but I like it better than human-dinosaur hybrids.

I think a plot having to do with the displaced or abused natives would be a more realistic and grounded plot than what the finale of Dominion had at stakes (the whole world is gonna starve from these locusts!!! Now please hold while I eat this donut.) I’d also appreciate if this movie went back to the “antagonist dinosaur” not having to die. Even in JP3 with two groups of antagonist dinosaurs, not a single one dies on screen (maybe one of these Pteranodon hatchlings fell to its death but who cares). It’d be nice if the dinosaur in this movie can just run off, instead of an orchestral score begging me to feel happy as its corpse lays on the ground.

I suspect it's a mix of some of these. Early, failed experiments from InGen that are contagious with a DX style disease. They were abandoned on Site C (or whatever), and the native population suffered from this, while struggling to live along side them, forming a sort of cargo cult around the dinosaurs and old InGen equipment and facilities

For some reason or another, Hollywood reporter worded this part of the synopsis as such "Zora Bennett (Johansson) attempts to secure the genetic material from the dinosaurs but ends up stranded with a civilian family on an island that holds a secret BEING kept from humanity for decades." I find the use of the word being to be interesting.

Something I would like to add on to my theory, is that its completely possible that the prologue from Dominion is retconned as it wasn't in the theatrical version. Many series have made deleted scenes, other media, and even plot points from previous movies non-canon. I have no doubt that this new movie will be soft retcon isntead of a soft reboot, and de-canonize some of the designs in Dominion while keeping others. I'm more than willing to eat crow on that one though.

Pretty sure its not another Indominus kinda hybrid and its too much of a plot twist to have dinosaurs survived for millions of years (excluding birds obviously here).... Man, well... I know that the ¨five deaths¨ idea sets a sci-fi mood to the novels (Because they are partially made up and do not really exist near Costa Rica), but at least it´s half realistic because there is an island (Coco) near Costa Rica. So putting on top of that a ¨native sci-fi¨ King Kong-like inhabitants... Man, we are leaving sci-fi and going Fantasy... Not a fan of that idea at all, I thought the ¨Rebirth¨ thing was about going back to the more grounded Jurassic with Koepp and all. We are a ¨leak¨ away from knowing if this is 2005´s Doom with Dinosaurs or an actual decent sci-fi movie that returned to the grounded more realistic horror-oriented movie they were teasing with Koepp and all that.

I wouldn’t call indigenous people living on an island chain “native sci-fi”. People live undisturbed on North Sentinel Island. The people of the Pacific Islands lived similarly for thousands of years before Captain James Cook arrived. So why not Las Cinco Muertes?

If those ruins turn out to be a ¨Fictional/nonexistent in real-life ¨ structure with a civilization or natives living in it, and a research facility inside... well, that is pretty much ¨Sci-Fi¨ territory by definition, my dude. And if you are saying that is a plausive ¨Fictional¨ scenario sure, I guess in a fictional island chain you could put anything you want, but my point was that as you put more fictional elements, the movie is less grounded/realistic and more Fantasy/over the top. So, with that many fictional elements, the ¨grounded/back to basics¨ Jurassic they were teasing at some point is likely not going to happen. Whether that is cool or not, is to everybody's taste. How would it be in any way relevant? They’re fictional. The islands don’t actually exist. And Hollywood does badly enough getting existing tribes right; depicting fictional ones is just asking for trouble. Plus everyone would be either displaced or dead, assuming there was anyone living there at all to call indigenous.

What if and I know it deviates from canon a bit but, what if ingen tested behind johns back how humans and dinosaurs coexisted without the restriction etc to see whether humanity could survive against the dinos and they tested it on the indigenous population. Also a subgroup of ingen wanted to release them to the mainland to do a sort of biosyn approach with them getting money to capture and keep the dinos in a sanctuary hence the testing but soon realised that the indigenous people couldn’t survive not based on being eaten but being killed by a virus like a theory said planet of the ape style so they had to abandon the idea and locked it away from the world. But the discovery could be that this virus is in every dino ingen created and that it now due to FK is at risk of infecting humanity with no cure available due to its ancient properties. The trilogy could revolve around humanity slowly dying dinos taking over and the task to find the cure to avoid extinction entering the ‘rebirth’ of a Jurassic World

Out of the current theories the idea a DX style disease is sweeping through the dinosaurs and causing their demise is interesting What I find funny is that the title Rebirth doesn't quite fit with the idea of a deadly disease Unless it means the Rebirth of an ancient disease in the dinosaurs Another idea I possibly had is what if the secret isn't paleo accurate dinosaurs but instead dinosaurs that even less accurate After all you're not making a fluffy raptor right on the first go What if these original failasaurus are still alive and they're where this disease has come from Perhaps Ingen left these failures to die but like the quote of this series "life find a way" and these genetic freaks thrived but harbor an ancient virus that's mutated in them All kinda crazy but just me speculating

Maybe the DX disease is an ancient disease that accidentally got resurrected with the dinosaurs, which is why the dinosaurs are the key to finding a vaccine for it. I feel like another hybrid is unlikely since it's already been done several times. Honestly, I'm not really keen on any ideas I've heard so far. I want this movie to be good but I'm not sure how much mileage this series has left in it. There's only so much you can do with the premise before you either get repetitive or go in an absurd direction. I'm going to reserve judgement until I've actually seen the film, but I'm also going to prepare myself for disappointment.

I find the DX virus theory a bit dumb for multiple reasons. 1) the plot synopsis given out doesn't say the dinosaurs aren't doing well on the mainland, just that most current environments are inhospitable to them and they choose to live in equatorial environments cause its most similar to where they once lived. So dinosaurs are doing fine on the mainland, in fact they're probably thriving in areas like Brazil, Costa Rica, the Congo, Indonesia, etc, you're just not gonna find Velociraptors in New York or T-Rexs in London which makes sense 2) the dinosaurs dying from a disease isn't a world ending problem or a problem for humanity, and 3) Ingen creating a virus to kill off their own creations seems like a stretch. As much as it would suck, finding labs with failed human-dinosaur hybrids makes a lot of sense and is on theme with the first JP movie of man playing god, especially if this was a secret of Igen's from the time of JP1 or earlier. I could imagine a scenario where back in the 80s and 90s, some of Ingen's scientists wanted to push the boundaries of what they can do with their cloning and gene splicing tech and in secret created labs that Zora's team finds decades later in a scene similar to the lab in JP3 where the lab is all broken down and abandoned but this time the incubators contain dead human-dino hybrids. We could also find out that the people that lived on the island were used for these experiments and to cover up what happened Ingen just released a bunch of carnivorous dinosaurs to kill both the indigenous people and the scientists. This could then tie into the idea from the JW trilogy of Igen wanting to weaponize dinosaurs, maybe this event is where they first got the idea, but John Hammond wouldn't allow it. That would be the sinister and shocking part, that Ingen long ago just wiped out a tribe of people.

I would take the plot synopsis with a grain of salt. Some have suggested it was written by AI, which checks out. Much of the text within is contradictory and strangely written. To address your first point, the plot synopsis says that modern ecology is inhospitable to the dinosaurs, not the environments. Ecology refers to more than just environments actually; it encompasses animals, plants, abiotic factors, diseases, etc. Furthermore, the plot synopsis says that the remaining dinosaurs exist in isolated tropical environments. It doesn’t say they’ve chosen to be there, only that they are there. Several points of my original comment are missing in this video, so context is also missing. The following is my original comment which discusses those issues: “For my answer to make sense, we need to ask why the dinosaurs aren’t doing too well on the mainland. I think the easiest explanation is because a deadly virus is spreading among the dinosaurs, something like DX. I’d say Koepp would draw from real life inspiration and make DX a COVID-esque virus rather than a prion disease. It could be that dinosaur waste/carcasses have exposed people to DX, causing people to get infected, which would then force pharmaceutical companies to try and synthesise a cure. The best way to do this would be to extract the DNA from large animals who may be more likely to have an immunity to the virus. I think the sinister secret of the film is that inGen knew about DX. It could be that when they first started creating dinosaurs, mosquitos may have carried DX, which infected both the inGen scientists and the resurrected dinosaurs. It may be that inGen was interested in this virus and wanted to study it further, but didn’t want to infect anymore employees or assets, so they began experimenting on the indigenous population on one of Las Cinco Muertes (hence the Central American-inspired ruins). This early awareness of DX could tie in with the sick Triceratops and Brachiosaurus on Nublar. With DX coming back in the modern day, inGen may have hired Krebs’ pharmaceutical company to develop a cure to try and save face. How could DX come back in the modern day? Rexy. She’s the only dinosaur still alive from JP, and I believe she was one of the first synthesised, so DX could have laid dormant in her system since then, or something to that effect. She could be Patient Zero for a modern strain of DX, which is causing global catastrophe for people and dinosaurs alike. So why are dinosaurs in equatorial, tropical environments then? I don’t think the dinosaurs migrating there themselves. I think they’re being shipped to uninhabited tropical environments as a form of quarantine.” It’s far more comprehensive than the snippets in the video suggest and does indeed address your queries.

hmm the 'sinister' aspect makes me think..What if Ingen wanted to expand on whatever island this is with more creation / testing facilities etc, but the Indigenous people were fed up / fought back on allowing this to happen...so Ingen then decides to create one last brutal dinosaur, which 'escapes' wiping out majority of the Indigenous people, so then ingen could expand, but this monstrous dino was too powerful / intelligent to contain so ingen decided to abandon the island all together..the cast runs into the few people whom survived, living amongst the caves, who tell the story

The "sinister fate of the indigenous tribe of the 5 Deaths" would be a very compelling route, as it ties themes of neocapitalism with colonialism, two things 'Muricans are sadly very good at.

Indigenous people, that´s a good one, I know those islands didn´t exist but going beyond that and making it like there was a lost civilization in them it´s too goofy. I´m intrigued by how much they will jump the shark in this one. Could it be Raptor's gymnastic level of goofiness?. Or a 12-year-old surviving an island filled with hostile territorial dinosaurs for eight weeks, level?... Is it Full-on Owen magic whispering palm powers? Or is this a Rebirth of Carlos Huantes's concept art? Those are the real questions from here.

not sure i always thought the hybrids where a good add on when you ran out of dino's so if they are not doing that not sure out right killing the pop would not be as sinister as say turning them into monsters? At least that my train of thought

As far as a dinosaur human hybrid? They have had the knowledge to be able to do that since the first movie. If they haven't done that in the Jurassic Park universe somebody in that universe is totally lacking imagination. The human dinosaur hybrid hypothesis with the genetic knowledge displayed in the books and the movies is entirely likely and totally viable.

To be fair... the existing canon of how they got dino DNA from mosquitos in amber is extremely farfetched, so a breakaway from that canon would not be a bad idea... DNA deteriorates way too fast to be intact from millions of years. Amber is porrous, and thus not airtight, so deterioration would go even faster.
