A) The desk with the wheelchair might not be Dr. Harold Winston's. It might be a close friend of his before he left earth, a spouse, a sibling or something. What's more worrying is why there is a wheelchair just left there. Let's say the desk owner is an ambulatory chair user and can stand and walk to some extent. Why would they just leave their mobility aid lying around and not take it with them? B) Tom Beanson is probably a reference to real life Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons. Which makes the Noodle shop gambit so much more funny because that implies this is just a thing all Tim Beanson are doing, and nobody in universe has noticed yet.

Also there is a topic which was interesting to me since OW release but noone was making videos about except maybe _one_ last year: *Cubemaps* AKA *Reflections.* If you look into the glass walls, windows, some other reflective surfaces you will always see the concept of the map taken from completely different view point and most likely from previous development stage. So if you look into green/brown reflective walls on Numbani you would see places which weren't in game even in beta in 2015.

@cia4u40120 күн бұрын
I know the lore is basically nonexistant for this game and the community doesn't care for it at all nowadays but the wheelchair is a lore nod to Dr Chao who's the CEO of Lucheng Interstellar and have created the moon and martian bases. She uses a wheelchair because she's spent so much time in low gravity without taking meds that would stop her bones and muscles from atrophying. As to why she has a photo of winston it's probably a nod to her situation, she's concerned about the ape revolution that happened up there and how "they're building something" according to the short novel Thoughtless Gods. Also all of this information is revealed to the public by Hammond in the novel too iirc. As for the floor not having any doors it's probably an oversight but considering this is the tower of one of the biggest companies in the setting and seeing how basically every single car showcased in game flies I'd guess you don't really NEED another way to get up there if you're cleared to go. It'd be stranger if the CEO's wheelchair didn't fly at this point too. None of this matters mind you. It's pointless lore that will never get any real resolution and all of which has been written over the years by people who no longer work at Blizzard. But hey! We had such fun memories! Like seeing a character answer Winston's recall for the 11th time! :^)
@fateofsouls21417 күн бұрын
But wouldn't it make more sense to use a basic medical model for the recovery process? If this is a high-tech device, wouldn't some kind of exoskeleton make more sense, since you can passively train your muscles and bones the whole time? And speaking of which, wouldn't the muscle and bone loss affect her whole body, not just her legs, which means a wheelchair probably wouldn't be the right thing, but proper rehab ,which should not take long in the Overwatch universe, where at the end, she would able to walk again?

This video made me realize something very weird about the world of Overwatch. So why are wheelchairs still a thing? Hear me out… Number 1: Why not get robot legs? Advanced prosthetics are commonplace in the world of Overwatch so it’s not like how prosthetics are super expensive or the technology isn’t really for them to be super common like it is for us. So in a world where they are regularly available and highly advanced, why wouldn’t people use them over wheelchairs, especially this scientist? Number 2: Why aren’t there hover chairs? Hover technology is even more commonplace than prosthetics in Overwatch with every car hovering instead of driving. So why aren’t there hovering wheelchairs? I mean think about it having hoverchairs would be way more practical than having wheelchairs, I mean you wouldn’t need to worry about stairs or ramps as you could just hover over them.
@lavaanaconda96820 күн бұрын
If you break both your legs, would you rather have a wheelchair or get both legs cut off and replaced with cybernetics? Hover chairs though? Those do make sense.

You don't even need to replace the legs, you could just get an exoskeleton to go over top of them to assist with mobility. As I used to analyze OW maps on the "in-universe" standpoint myself, I can say the Lijiang tower is probably the most well designed building in the game. Everything wrong could be explained just with a flying pod taking people to this level. As any other map go, there are fake doors and windows EVERYWHERE. Just look and you'll be really shocked how they're on every corner. Not to mention there are actually innacesible buildings on King's Row, Numbani and probably many more

I've found peace by simply seeing all maps for what they are, backdrops based on the locations of the Overwatch story, NOT the Lore location itself. I would go out on a limb and say that not a single building on any map could serve its intended purpose. Château Guillard is another example. It's supposed to represent a castle that's hundreds of years old, but the way it's set up is a joke. It makes no sense and no one would seriously want to live there, especially in winter or during storms. Another example is Eichenwalde. If you know the map and watch "Honor and Glory", you'll quickly realize that the map structure doesn't make sense for the logic of the cinematic. Oh, and about the hightech wheelchair. They don't really have any place in Overwatch. The only place where something like that makes sense is in hospitals or where people can't afford cybernetics, and even then they would be simple and inexpensive instead of some high-tech thing. And speaking of which, normally a disabled person would not leave his wheelchair somewhere, but would always have it at least nearby, so it makes even less sense that this wheelchair is there just as a officechair.
