The Texas medical center is a business that cares about 1 thing and 1 thing only: $$$. Houston ranks among the worst cities for unnecessary medical treatments, because of this. Additionally, memorial Hermann-tmc recieved a grade c for safety. Methodist almost lost CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) reimbursement. I could go on about all their terrible secrets. Marc Boom the CEO at Methodist is a total cuck, he put the medical staff in danger because he wanted to be the 1st in the nation to mandate vaccines. Now we have no staff and people are quitting left and right. Oh and during the very beginning days of the pandemic (March 2020) they didn’t even have N95 masks for staff working in the ED with positive covid patients (so much for safety and we care for our patients and staff).

Decent video overall. I can't expect you to find out everything about a city to review, but your review of the neighborhoods needed a LOT more improvement. Talk to more locals if you need to find out more. Pearland and Pasadena are part of the greater Houston metro area, but if you can pick from the greater Houston metro area then there are a lot better areas to live in compared to Pasadena or Pearland when you have the greater Houston metro area to pick from.

Pasadena is trash . You're near chemical plants, which create massive air pollution . Dobie High School is okay. For Dobie, you need to be in RiverStone Ranch / SageMeadow neighborhood. Those neighborhoods are not bad nor dangerous. In fact; they're better than ones not mentioned in Pasadena area. Pearland is a decent area ( better than Pasadena of course ). However, both school districts are mediocre . Your best option are Katy, Sugar Land, Woodlands for the "suburb experience". Dobie High School is an exception if you're on a tight budget. But for a family , go to katy, sugar land, woodlands, Cypress also.

Plenty of in laws lived there so I've made that 300 mile/3hour drive many times. Houston grew large very quickly for one reason, there were very few zone laws. You could build anything next to anything. You might have houses next to a nightclub, next to a church, next to a topless bar, next to laundromat, next to bank. Houston changed for the worse in every way in 2005. With Katrina poised to hit New Orleans, Houston volunteered to accept thousands until the storm blew over and they could return home. The problem is they never did. New Orleans pulled an end around and never rebuilt those areas, washing their hands of folks from the bad areas. Houston saw it's crime statistics skyrocket as what was known as the "Katrina Trash" plied their trades.

This is unfortunately so true.....the same happened in Dallas, too. I hate saying "those people", BUTTTTTTT those people from NOLA spilled over into Texas and started wrecking. shop.

Houston grew large because of business friendly governance and the oil and gas industry. Houston overtook New Orleans as the leading oil and gas hub decades ago. So many Louisianians moved here because of it. In Louisiana, it's called the "brain drain" because many oil and gas professionals (engineers, geologists, and associated professionals like landmen, etc.) followed the jobs and opportunity (me included - though I'm not including myself in the brain category) Regarding Katrina, I think the overall effect was short lived. I don't think Houston has been burdened by it since 2010 or so, IMO. But I'm not saying this to downplay your comment. But I doubt Nola decided not to rebuild those areas because they didn't want the evacuees to come back. That seems like a convenient story. If it's true, they're certainly no better off today.
@thetimmns3 жыл бұрын
True seemed there was certain areas where they settled in and never left. The area around Antoine and Tidwell was one. Before Katrina it was a good area. Now it's bad .I know several people that lived in that area that moved out for that reason. A lot of businesses there closed.

League City Tx is a nice place to live. Crime is low. It is located between Houston and Galveston . League City has NASA, Clear Lake, Kemah Board Walk, many boat marinas, Galveston, and Lots of seafood restaurants near by. There’s more outdoor things to do in League City area than Houston. The neighborhood pic he showed with rocks in the yard looked like Arizona or Nevada. The best neighborhood in Houston is River Oaks. Where did he get the picture for being the worst neighborhood? Then an awesome night in Austin with an old college buddy for Then back to Houston. The rental guy did a double take on the odometer. I drove 1500 miles in Texas and saw about a 1/3 of the state in 3 days. Moral of the story? IDK anything about Houston, that is why I love Briggs. Texas is huge! Meh. Dallas and Ft Worth are 2 separate cities in 2 separate counties, Dallas and Tarrant counties. And combined, they have a smaller population than Houston, though the combination of the two is a bit more in size - about 738 sq miles between FW and Dallas, and a little over 600 just for Houston. Houston has twice the land of all 5 boroughs in NYC combined. We are in the process of completing our 3rd loop around the Houston area, the Grand Parkway/Hwy 99. When completed, it will be about a 300 mile loop around greater Houston. Beltway 8, the middle loop around Houston, is almost 90 miles. And I-610, AKA the inner loop, is about 30 or 35 miles in total length.

Seems like big misses in not mentioning that among Houston's industries is medical science and treatment as well as the port. The city does have the largest medical center on the planet which includes MD Anderson Cancer Center (rated #1 in world) among over 60 other life science institutions employing over 100,000. The port is ranked first in the nation for cargo tonnage (moving nearly 285 million tons in 2019). While Houston is considered "the oil capital of the world", your description makes it sound like the city is primarily a one trick pony. Generally I enjoy your videos as they are entertaining though I do frequently question the basis of your ranking criteria or perhaps the extent of your research.

Whatever, I've lived in El Paso, Houston, and Dallas, and out of the three the DFW Area on the whole is much better. I moved to the DFW area and never left. There is something for everyone here. I agree, Houston is more fun if your ambition is to fall victim to a violent crime. Houston's crime rate per capita is horrible and it floods frequently in a lot of areas. Stats will support this statement. The crime rate in Dallas has also gotten worse, but they will never catch Houston. Houston has a great food scene, is closer to the beach, and is flooded with good quality museums, and NASA, so it does have that. El Paso is more laid back and slower paced. It's not near as big as the other two. The DFW Area is also home to teams in every major sport and DFW Airport, which is the home base of American Airlines. American Airlines can fly you to just about anywhere on Earth on one hop or less. Neither airport in Houston, nor El Paso's airport can say that.

West University is not a neighborhood. It's a self-contained city surrounded by the city of Houston. Same with Bellaire. The Metro neighborhoods you listed of Pearland and Pasadena are also cities, not neighborhoods. The city of Houston also goes down into Ft. Bend County and butts up next to Sugarland. To the north, it's not incorporated, but there is The Woodlands. Sugarland and The Woodlands are two of the hottest housing markets in the whole area.
