I think one thing to note about VR and the internet in general is that there is no distinction between "the real world" and "the digital world." VR is PART of "the real world," just like everything else. The people that you talk to in VR are real people in 'the real world," just like you are.

I've been in to VR for almost 4 years, and VR is important to me because it provides a way to get out, as I'm nearly 60 and was a bit too reckless when I was in my 20's and 30's and I'm somewhat physically broken now, so it gives me a way to continue to be adventurous, without hurting myself. The only think I find frustating is the latest head sets have a max IPD of 68 to 70mm, and I'm 74mm, so visually not so comfortable.

Why I think VR matters? I truly believe it's the future and the next frontier. A headset is like a key that allows you to explore strange new worlds and to conceptualize the impossible. We're not necessarily bound by the laws of the physical world to imagine new ideas. A fantasy made real. VR is like a dream that doesn't disappear when you wake up. It's an ever persistent companion world that we can constantly go back to. I believe we've only scratched the surface and within the next few years, it'll be a time of leaps and bounds of discoveries. We might even make new life-changing discoveries from VR that we initially didn't think were related. Like how traditional video games lead to a lot of advancements in medical technology, VR can certainly become the next groundbreaking thing. More importantly than ever with the whole pandemic thing going on, where other technological advancements would have stalled, VR is thriving. It's something that's bringing us together in times of both prosperity and hardship.

@renookami46514 жыл бұрын
Some companies produce prescription lenses. It's an added cost but the solution exist. You can also try VR while wearing contacts, but keep eye-drops nearby and don't forget to take breaks. Playing while wearing glasses may work for some, but can be unconfortable compared to using propper prescription lenses in the machine instead.
@danielhughes37584 жыл бұрын
Depends on what type of bad vision you have. The screen is super close to your eyes, so if you see well up close then I don't think there should be any issues. I see poorly at longer distance so I don't want to go outside without my glasses, but at home and also when playing in VR I generally don't wear glasses or contacts
@GaminwithGamers4 жыл бұрын
The lenses make the screen viewing around 6 inches from your face so if you are near sighted up to that distance you will probably be fine, i personally used glasses for vr for a year and its not a bad option you just have to make sure your glasses will fit before you buy and you also gotta make sure the lenses never touch each other or you could scratch your headsets lenses or even your glasses

I'm so tempted about sending this to my dad since he had to make a trailer for a vr project I was doing in college and he thought the graphics were... well... shit (pixelated to hell and back, I was likely capturing at less than 720p internal resolution), but that's not surprise considering I ran out of time to optimize it and the capture ran on an Asus SCAR II (meaning the CPU heated so much it thermal throttled my laptop to the point scenes that used to give me 60 FPS were giving me 15!) I hope he won't be put off by your trademark intro, Phia.

Tried CardboardVR, unimpressed, gimmicky. Tried 6dof PCVR (Beat saber). Yeah, it's nice and all to be able to see everything around you, but it doesn't "feel" real or even immersive at all. The stereocopic effect (3D) is sure present, but barely noticeable when busy playing. After 20 minutes or so I still don't feel like INSIDE a game, maybe at a theme park/arcade... I'd say it's more fun than playing with mouse and keyboard, but don't expect anything mind-blowing. It's kinda like the difference between a motorcycle (classic gaming) and a car (VR, 6dof), while nice people tell you you're hopping onto a plane. Maybe we're just not there yet and it'd suddenly become a true next-gen medium once we have VR-Setups with 400Hz 8k/eye full body tracking, electric sensory stimulation suits available for the consumer market, it's just not good enough. 1280x1440 per eye just looks worse than a cheap monitor. Couldn't imagine how PS3 graphics (PSVR) could be of any use lol. "VR is cheap, you can get a good Windows Mixed Reality Headset for less than 2 Benjamins." That's true, IF you live in the US. Otherwise prices bloat uncontrollably. Prepare to spend at least 1.200 euros for PC and headset. And no, you don't have to spend 1k on the PC. A basic system is enough(Maybe 300-400), put the remaining few hundred bucks into the best GPU that budget allows.

Also, I lose my power to transform into other forms, and I can't find my travel medallion anywhere I believe I am dreaming, although it feels real. I really need someone's help to figure out what is going on When I am in my world, strange things happen. Everyone around me say stuff that I don't understand, like VeeAre and OckYouLust, and when I ask them what they mean, try think I'm crazy. They also have the ability to transform like me, which is odd since I was the only one who was able to do that. Also, if I touch a mirror, it tries to swallow me, pulling me into this strange limbo state. All of this only started happening recently, about a year ago, I think.
