Great job of explaining this disorder. I will be sending this to my kids and grandchildren. I was diagnosed in April 2022 and am actually finishing my round 6 later today! Bendamustine and subcutaneous Rituximab. Last CT results showed a huge drop in lymph node size and spleen. Blood work has been pretty good. RBC and hemoglobin levels have been good throughout treatment. Neutrophils have been lower as expected but the last test shows them to be just below normal. I have experienced next to no chemo symptoms other than a bit of fatigue ~ 4-5 days following treatment.

@@jciutube724 My #6 was in early Oct. I had a review with my Hematologist which was excellent. Next will be my once every 3 month subcutaneous Rituximab injection in January and these will continue every 3 months for IIRC 2 yrs. Lab work prior to each injection. Feeling better than I have for quite a few years. This disease being indolent sneaks up on you over time.

@@zanzibarandgrill6484 First thank you for the response. My heart goes out to you. My mom was diagnosed and is in the middle of her treatment. I am trying to help her as much as I can. Her Dr. want to wait and see what happens through blood work. Thank you for the information. Be blessed

You didn't mention how the heavy and light chain synthesis is balanced(unlike multiple myeloma), which spares these people from kidney damage...

why does WM not cause any renal failure like the other plasma cell dysfunctioning diseases.

Today have been diagnosed with this after 21 years of chronic pain and fatigue. I believe the underlying coarse is the Epsom Barr Virus EBV, which I still have in my system from my teens. Anyone one else with this have had glandular fever in the past? Awaiting treatment.

My uncle is suffering from WM. He is at the point of congestive heart failure. In the last three-weeks, six litres of fluid have been removed with a chest drain. How does that sort of development fit into this disease? Does this sound like a "stage-4" scenario for him? Looking back to the last year, I noticed a weakness in him when he walked, and also he was freezing cold at Christmas, even though my furnace was cranked up. I also moved a small portable heater right up to his feet, trying to keep him comfortable. The last time (a few days ago) that I called an ambulance for him, he could no longer be sleeping flat on his back, as he was smothering/choking from the fluid build-up. Anyway, he has had two treatments of a mild chemo drug. He isn't doing to well.

I've had the disease for 15 years I am on a drug called imbruvica it's a pill works great plus I stop drinking alcohol that's a big factor drugs won't work if you're drinking
