Love this car! 991 Interior is more analog with lower dashboard height than 992, but 992 GT3’s double wishbone front suspension has ruined me ……steering is so much sharper with better feel and individual throttle bodies give the most crisp throttle response. I think your friend needs to try a 992 version as that car solves his complaints. Being a McLaren fanboy as well I actually understand what he’s talking about

I have both a 600LT and 992 GT3, McLaren for the track 10/10 times over the gt3, but for canyons and backroads, the gt3 is more enjoyable (manual, regular seats).

Love the PDK..before I got my R8 in 2014 I almost bought the 2010 911 with PDK.. I had lost my ability to drive stick shift due to a neurological condition and the pdk restored my enthusiasm for cars . Problem was I love the R8 so I had to wait a few years for Audi to get their stuff together and put in a dual clutch transmission for 2014 albeit THe R8 DCT is not even close to the PDK. But hey I still have that R8

I love the fact they were designed around the beetle. Classic stuff. My 997.2 C2S PDK looks even more like an old classic sports car and that’s what I love. No spoilers and not too race car like. Each to their own I guess. I would love a GT3 as well though 😊

Hey Eddie, to your comment at 17:30 , the button “sport” doesn’t change any other parameters than simply the rev matching. That’s why, now they changed the name from “sport” to “autoblip”.
@charlie36584 ай бұрын
"I got tired of working for it." That sums it up. Mine is PDK and, for me, too scary to drive at 8 tenths on a public road. This is a violent, frantic, precision scalpel. With a manual - everything happening super-quickly in that last 3000 rpm - I can't imagine. Sure, there's the auto blip, other nannies, but still. In the 90s I tracked 8k miles in my modified 993 turbo and became somewhat comfortable with a few track techniques that I'd never use on a public road. Lift throttle, double apex was my nirvana. Old 911s, new 911s....I think the story stays the same. There are easier cars to drive quickly for the novice/intermediate. A great driver needs nothing more than a GT3. I'm not great.

Some thoughts; 1. Yes, no doubt a high income, first world problem lol. 2. For most people, they would be so impressed with driving this caliper of vehicle that they would not notice the subtle drawbacks. This is exactly the type feedback Porsche needs to consider. The owner has driven numerous sports cars in this price point, knows the pros and cons with each. 3. Good for both of you, affluent to own own these type of vehicles. I am a retired teacher, owned a 350Z and C6 Corvette but never able to own a car in this price range. Long ago l made the decision to teach and along with it came financial limitations. I am not complaining, just stating the choices and ramifications of those decisions.

Just typical 911 characteristics Easy fix with some better tires and suspension tweaks/can do rs springs also 992 is better stock for stock however will still give you the same characteristic and feel at the limit when really cooking , 911 inherently has that light front end feel Part of the 911 charm and it commands you to drive it entirely different than any other car which is rewarding to master I love my 991.2 but yea it’s a bit soft out of the box, on the other hand that’s what I also grew to love about it compared to my built RUF gt2 and 997 gt2 with crazy track setups suspension wise. You can drive it longer all day long and not feel worn out Also in sport you can still heel toe downshift and it overrides the auto rev match without issue or problem And as he mentioned the part throttle /on throttle no lift shifts to crazy pops with my straight pipe lol

That makes them feel boring to me on the streets. To make them really handle like it can on a backroad u almost feel like u have to drive at 10/10ths. Just driving spirited on the street a mclaren or a c8 or ferrari can do higher speeds on hairpins/nice turns and then are way faster in a straight line. If your just gonna track it anyways buy a gt3 cup car which would be sick. I love the cars they just aren't fun enough for how I personally would realistically use them(I'd love to drive one on track)

Very much appreciated The owner echoes my sentiments. I drove my cousins 991.2 on track. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I had. I couldn’t afford buying him his car if I went through the tire wall & in the bends this thing had no feeling & when I tried to do this corner shit by right foot it stepped out. I pitted after 2 laps. 3 years later he got a 600lt. That thing felt like a dream. It had the steering feel in to corner entries & had such balance in mid corner & if you can keep the engine 3.5-4k rpm you teleport from turn to turn. Eddie & my cousin said the same thing there is a different way to drive the gt3 but f it. Who cares about that when maclaren just sends you into another realm. 😂😂 (I’m coping)

The McLaren will always feel with less body roll due to a lot of factors as you know the mid engine experience is a lot different than the 911s. The 911 will keep you in check as you said on your own words. “I have to focus” give it a track spec suspension set up and it will wake up the handling. They are not the best out of the box. Great content

9/10ths on the street? 🤨 When folks talk about 9/10ths on the street I get skeptical that they have enough experience to know what 9/10ths actually is. I track my 991.2 GT3 in advanced group TDs and I can tell you there is ZERO chance I have ever gotten close to 9/10ths with my GT3 on street. I'm not sure I can even adequately warm my Cup 2's on street like I can on track. Maybe I'm wrong and this driver is talented enough (and ballsy enough) to get this car and his McLaren to 9/10ths on street... but I would put my money that he is just comparing the subjective "feel" of this car vs the McLaren at maybe 6/10ths or so.

Power power power. This is something the GT3 lacks in regards to other cars in its price range. Not everyone wants to rev an engine fully out just to extrapolate its potential. Some of us like to feel being pushed back in our seats at 3k rpm's. Not everyone wants to feel the excitement of a car only when hauling ass around a track. Some of us want to feel the potential of a car in daily traffic. The GT3 is great on track days and canyon runs. But other than that, its pretty uninspiring, hence why I feel like for the price, its just not a great car. The 911 Turbo S would be a much more exciting car for me. But even at that, 911's, as good as they are, don't give off that "WOW" factor that actual exotics give off. That's what he is missing...

this comment is wrong on so many points.
@Rushwind1008 ай бұрын
Everyone that keeps saying Steven should move fwd to a 992, have missed the point here. Based on Steven’s comments, simply said, for twisty backroads you really should move BACK to a 997.2 GT3. You would be SHOCKED at how good the hydraulic steering is, and how much the suspension {inferior compared to how GOOD the new ones are}, BUT how engaging the drive is. It makes you WORK harder, thus more satisfying. The new GT3’s are soooo damn good that it takes less effort to go too fast & now you don’t feel like you’re coming close to the limits. Please try a 997.2 GT3 & do another video comparison!!
@Rushwind1008 ай бұрын
Plus I’ll add that at 7:22 in this video, Steven says that this 991.2 is “great car at about 9/10’s, buuut” … which kinda implies that you need to hit 10/10’s in order for the car to be at its best. Exactly my point here.
@mattyp31196 ай бұрын
... I have so many things to say, none are positive. Look, here's what happened: you bought a porsche gt3 thinking it would make you faster, better, quicker whatever and as most bad drivers say " this car is great at 9/10ths but not 10/10", i guarantee its not even being taken to 6/10ths.

Thank God someone doesn't drink the GT3 Kool aid. Out of all the supercars i have driven the GT3 and the GT3 RS are the most boring. They look boring. They drive boring. They are overpriced by about 150k. They are too perfect. They don't evoke any emotions. Are they good track car? Sure. But anything outside of track driving they are very boring. They are very low on power. There is no fun below 5000 rpm. They don't look like a supercar. Any McLaren or Ferrari or Lambo is lot more fun, characterful than this beetle.
