We visited the place before it was a hotel, it was not well advertised as a tourist place, we were the only people there that day . The lady in charge let us take our time and look around for as long as we wanted. Bountiful place with a lot of character.

Jeffrey and Tourist……..the huge collection of masks - Carnevale, native, and others - made a huge impression on me as an artist, as well as all of the tile and terra cotta in the poolside kitchen.
@jeffreymartin6369 Жыл бұрын
@@hollymauk8008 I put those masks on the walls. Maury bought them while he and Toy were on vacation! He was not great at arranging stuff, lol. Toy collected all the movie posters. I always staged the house for parties as well. Thanksgiving for example she had about 150 people in the house! I loved Toy a lot. She was so much fun. Maury was grumpy and terse, lol.. but I liked his as well. He loved me helping him out with tours. The stairs got rough after a few weeks constantly running up and down. 113 steps in the house, and no elevator. I kept urging her to get one.

It looks nothing like the Taylor Burton Villa, nothing is left of the original house, save for a few walls. It is stunning, but I miss Casa Kimberly as it was. Calle Zaragoza 445 PV Jalisco MX. I remember that address well, I spent a lot of time there, when it was still a home.
@StreetTruckinTitan4 жыл бұрын
True. Burtons side is pretty much the same although some of the rooms have been remodeled for different purposes. We got a private tour 2 yrs ago before they opened for the season. Disappointed about what they did to Casa Kimberly.
@hollymauk8008 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I’m a little heartbroken at how much it has changed. The little courtyard, with the bed and breakfast rooms situated around it, seems to be entirely gone. When I was there, the balcony that overlooked Richard’s half of the house was still there……the balcony from the famous Life magazine photo layout that Elizabeth did of Casa Kimberly.
@jeffreymartin6369 Жыл бұрын
@@hollymauk8008 that was the living room unless you are referring to their bedroom. They lived together in the whole house, the fairy tale about separate houses is a myth. However she would lock him out of the big side of the house when he was a long bender! My friend Toy bought it from Elizabeth and she learned about it from her and the cook Carolina! I adored Carolina and she had funny stories about replacing plates and glasses because Elizabeth would throw them at him! They were totally in love but fought constantly. Toy used to stay in Dallas at my house and use my car when I was in Vallarta and I helped with tours and guests and parties. I too am broken hearted and have not visited the hotel to this day, but I plan to spend a weekend there soon. The hotel IS gorgeous but it’s not the same. I’ve slept in 4 different bedrooms over the years and spent one romantic night on the daybed with a handsome tourist I met in El Centro! I’m planning to rent an apartment there in a few years and stay there.

@@StreetTruckinTitan Burton didn’t have a side. It’s one house they lived in the entire house, that’s just a made up story.

@@jeffreymartin6369 well the house on the south side separated by the bridge. True Richard probably lived full time in Casa Kimberly but those are two separate houses.

It was obvious that R Burton was a beaten man towards the end of his life. An alcholoc, chain smoke n sex wore him out. I dont think he ever cared for $ investment etc. He lived a larger than life. Their relationship was so toxic to each other.
@jeffreymartin6369 Жыл бұрын
@@mzm4245that’s true it was an entrance for the neighbors to use the pool, but I don’t think that happened many times. It was due to his endless drunkenness. They didn’t live in separate sides either that’s a fish story. It was a guest house with a pool, they always live in the entire home.
