I'm happy to see the proceeds of your book is going to charity. I was a problem gambler for about a year or two. Recently, I made up for all of those losses from gambling with card counting and more! It's because of this channel as well as many people and tools that have helped me out with my card counting journey.

I'm s charity maybe he can send some my way. Also, the best way to help people is not charity but rather mutual aid. Charity is capitalistic and look down on the poor and those without, and usually corrupt. Mutual aid puts those people side by side and don't look down and allows them to help themselves up. Charity many times the money doesn't get where it needs to, Haiti and the Red Cross is a great example

Hey Colin, Thanks for putting out amazing content time and time again here and on your podcast. This will look nice sitting next to my copy of The 21st Century Card Counter. Quick Question Colin, Without a shop local or even relatively close to me long distance travel would be a must to play blackjack 50 hours a year would be about what I could put in. With that being said would you deem it feasible to invest and play the game seriously?
@Blackjackapprenticeship
@Blackjackapprenticeship Жыл бұрын
Well, it depends on how long you plan on being into it. 50 hours/year for 10 years is def worth it! 50 hours/year for 2 years is far from a sure thing, and more of a positive EV gamble.

I feel that a lot of the stuff on TV even about real life card counters kind of gives a misconception about card counting. They portray card counters winning lots of money and it does happen. Being a KO user I had my successes while at it. But they don't portray a lot of the losses that the counter endures. The downswings of card counting can be very brutal and times you even question your ability, you question does counting really work and you question when the nightmare will end.

So I purchased "Tales from the Felt". I went ahead and splurged for the deluxe version, and in a departure from my frugal ways I even threw in the extra couple bucks for the expedited shipping. Just to realize I would be out of town visiting family during the expected delivery time. Thinking it rude to cancel a family trip (humor) I opted to send the book ahead to my daughter's residence so that it'd be there waiting when I showed up. My daughter was laughing when she handed me the well packaged gem, "It must have something to do with Blackjack." Ah she knows me too well. Anyway, I am retired now but managed a printshop for several decades, producing books and mostly Christian printed words. I also did some editing for historical nonfictional books. For those reasons I'm fairly suited towards a good educated opinion on the actual quality of the book as well as the contents of the stories. Oh and of course I love playing Blackjack and watching every video that BJA has put out. Cutting to the chase. The quality of the binding and printing are obviously done with great care and skill, it is clear that it is a genuine labor of love. Every book is not the same, this one, after close inspection, is bound well and meant to last. The illustrations are done well the bonus litho is awesome, I'm framing it the moment I get home. However the obvious care for the book itself is eclipsed by the great stories, although very well crafted and professional, these stories FEEL like you are sitting in front of a few friends enjoying a libation on the back porch. What a joy. Thanks for the writers and everyone involved in this gem. Tales of the the Felt will be sitting in the living room, well read and enjoyed for years to come! Cheers to you!

@geoffpearce889
@geoffpearce889 Жыл бұрын
It seems like you made $650 in 45 mins. What you have really made, if you are a long term card counter, is 75% of hourly EV plus fluctuation in your favour, which just happens to add up to $650. Say, for example, your EV for 45 mins of play was $20. This means you have had $630 of fluctuation which has been in your favour. The Next 45 mins of play could see you lose $800 of which you have earned another $20 in EV and have had -$780 in negative fluctuation. The combined results of these two hypothetical sessions means you have generated $40 in EV and have had a total of -$150 in fluctuation. As you play more the positive and negative fluctuations begin to cancel each other out and your cumulative EV will be your true results.

Everything online from my research says that hitting hard 16 vs 7-A will win you less hands than staying. why do all the basic strategy charts say to hit? even from my experience staying has worked better for me. I want to follow the perfect strategy but this one seems illogical...
@stevenhelgason8190
@stevenhelgason8190 Жыл бұрын
Follow the strategy Trust it. You have to think negatively sometimes and ask yourself - Which option offers you the least chance of losing? And think of the value of the plays over the long term scheme of things(many trials) not just recent favorable outcomes on fewer trials. Also, another thing to consider is that if you hit, there is also the chance of a push if you draw a low card. If you stand, the only outcomes are either a win(if the dealer busts) or a loss. True you may win slightly more hands by standing, but you'll also lose more too.
