You can only get citizenship once you have been a legal permanent resident for 10 years. To get permanent residency you need to apply for one of several categories. The easiest is to apply for the Financial Independence one, where you need to have R12,000,000 in assets (US$ 675,000). You can also apply for a Retired Persons Permanent Residency if you are over 55. You need an income of R37,000 per month (US$2,100) from an unrevokeable pension. My Retired Persons Permanent Residency took 6 1/2 years to finalise.

Next time , you should check out Mpumalanga. It is in my opinion the most beautiful province in SA . In terms of nature . You will feel so light and you will appreciate God's work . It's so beautiful. It's laid back . Last time i visited was in 2022 . And the whole year i was so freed . I appreciated life more . I would appreciate it if more people will turn their focus on that part of the country. And the road trip leading to Mpumalanga 😢 so beautiful.

@lifestylepretoria9181 It's 2024. All it takes is a simple google search to look at statistics and crime rates provided by the SA government. But that shouldn't stop a person from visiting. It just means you should be aware and cautious. Many cities in my country also have high crime rates, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't visit. Joburg is one of my favorite cities, but you'd have to be a little delusional to not see that the crime rate is high.

Yes. It's called "loadsheding." Power goes out in different areas of the city during certain times a day. A schedule is provided to residents so that they can adjust accordingly. But it doesn’t affect businesses as they have backup generators. Kind of sucks, but it's been going on so long that everyone I know is used to it.
