Seeing people cherish food from their native roots is so heartwarming especially when they share those feelings openly like KZbin, i hope she continues to do this as long as she likes
@GokulOnFire2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that but if she's gonna become a US Citizen & raise her daughter there, that's her home. She can keep up & share the culture but her home & tribe will be the people she's living with. Same goes for all.
@Jell0be3n2 жыл бұрын
@@GokulOnFire Just saying, they said "native roots". Native is where you originate from. Nationality isn't the same as where you live, for your information. The girl in the video is Korean, and Korean isn't a race. Therefore, her homeland is Korea. Not America. Despite this, her mother lives in Korea, so would it not make sense that the girl was BORN there as well? No matter where you turn the argument, you can't say I'm wrong, can you?
@GokulOnFire2 жыл бұрын
@@Jell0be3n sure I can, she's born in Korea so it's her birth place & it'll always be that way. That's why I mentioned her child, if s/he's born in US & lives in US; then that's his/her homeland. Korean isn't a race, it's a nationality but also a culture. Kimchi is a product of that culture. Home is where you live, not where you're born. If an American goes & settles in Korea then that's his home even if America is his birthplace. Koreans will be his tribe, he can keep up & share American culture but his tribe will be Koreans. Society!
@Jell0be3n2 жыл бұрын
@@GokulOnFire why do you feel the need to say that, though? Even I admit that some points you make are correct, but it's still peculiar that you'd go out of your way and mention it in a random KZbin comment. It's almost as pathetic as stating the obvious in a 'i'm so smart' narrative.

I loved that ending. I lost my mom about almost 8 months ago. I only know how to make some few basic dishes that she taught me and Ghanaian dishes aren’t that easily accessible through the internet, they were always passed down by mouth. My relationship with my mother was finally getting better, I said to her that I want to be in the kitchen with her the whole day do I can write everything down, and then the same week she passed. However since the passing of my mother I’ll take it upon to at least teach myself how to make most dishes that I remember by taste, how she did, And write those down for if I ever have kids. So that it won’t be lost and they know that grandma’s cooking is the best. As mom’s cooking is always the best 🖤

There’s certain food like authentic cheeses that aren’t available in the U.S and if they are, they don’t compare to the real deal. It’s just simply not the same. I remember my grandma packing it for me because she knew it was my favorite cheese and packing Totopo, for me to give my mom and the rest of my family when I got back to he states. The way she wrap it so well always amazed me, it never leaks. I know how to make my own shitor but they never have the right type of fish in American African stores. so I get a lot of dried fish from the markets in Ghana. @Sonakshi Awasthi India has many different practices and traditions we are all not the same you can't possibly be offended for using "malayalees" it's not that serious really.
@niveditanair70062 жыл бұрын
@Sonakshi Awasthi the differences vary from some things too for example people use coconut oil for cooking in Kerala and some southern regions which isn't common in other parts of india and other desi countries. So you can't really be mad at a malayali for not knowing something like pickles is common among every desi. Like I said, this isn't that serious.

I enjoy bringing back memories of my mom cooking Filipino food. The pungent, sweet, spicy, piquant, sometimes a little bit salty, sometimes a bit sour flavors trigger thought of comfort, safety, love, and home. I cook with my boy and girl and they enjoy it too. Maybe when they are older the same foods will trigger their memories in the same way.

This is so sweet. I honestly would love to try kimchi from different recipes since most of the ones I have had have been from small restaurants or "fast food" versions and I personally didn't really like them. Different versions of the same dish can really make all the difference--and the kimchi in this video looks GOOOOOD.

Airport security isn’t gonna be weirded out by this. You can bring food on planes if it’s wrapped/stored the right way, and depending on what it is. It goes through the scanners so they can tell it’s food. So many people do this. So it’s just another day at the Port. 🙂

My mother always brings an extra small carry on bag with her whenever she goes back to her hometown. I've always wondered why until I went back to her hometown to meet my grandmother. We stayed for 2 weeks then we went back home, my uncle would always give her 2 small boxes wrapped in plastic. We arrived home and she started to over the 2 bags, I stayed by her side wondering what he gave her. She unwraped it layer by layer, by the time it reached the middle she opened I and it turned out to be anchovies! The same kind that the whole family love! The anchovies where so fresh we could just eat it straight up! But my mother would use it for something else. She made "Nasi Lemak" with the anchovies she got. It always taste wonderful and flavorful whenever we eat them since we dont eat homemade food a lot! I'm currently learning how to do it but I always mess up the "sambal" its either too spicy or too salty 😂
