Western Friends - brillant idea, But first time i basically disgree (not at all) to your List because i consider friend/frienship To a longlasting/lifetime realitionship like in butch and Sundance or in unforgiven and not to a partnership like duck sucker or once upon a time. You're saying Open Range is a miniseries but meant you Lonesome Dove? Anyway, Robert Duvall would be my first choice for a friend in this times. Several westerns deals rather with partnerships as with friends. The lonesome hero is a invention of Hollywood like Shane or High Noon. Even the Duke himself fought alone only when he must.
